    This Festool plunge saw review is the first of two Festool saws.
    =============================
    Info from Festool.
    The TSC 55. Work with precision instead of performing time-consuming rework. A powerful 5200 revolutions per minute. 2.2 mm standard saw blade for completely smooth operation. A quick-acting brake and guide wedge for integral safety. Variable speed control and angle settings for delicate working adapted to the material and precision undercuts. Dual battery system with flexible configuration options. And when combined with the guide rail, guarantees sawing perfection that leaves nothing to be desired. Except for a power socket.
    Brushless EC-TEC motor combined with lithium-ion batteries for maximum cutting power.
    Flexible dual battery concept: Can be operated with two 18-volt battery packs (36V) for maximum power or one 18-volt battery pack for low weight.
    High-speed EC-TEC motor for perfect cutting quality and rapid working progress.
    Dust collection bag for clean, healthy working.
    New FastFix generation for even quicker and easier saw blade changes and adaptation to the working material.
    Lithium-ion battery - Fitted with a high-performance lithium-ion battery pack.
    EC-TEC motor - The EC-TEC drive concept generates an extraordinary amount of power while consuming extremely low amounts of energy.
    CLEANTEC - Integrated bayonet fitting as the connecting element between the extractor and the tool.
    MMC Multi-Material Control electronics
    “Multi-Material Control” power electronics with constant adjustable speed and temperature monitor for work on all types of material.

    *Great saw **MyBest.Tools** and track for the price can't beat it although the blade could be better but easily switched out.*

    Agree with it being underpowered Roger. I’ve used the mafell 18v mt55 plunge saw that puts this to shame even tho it’s only 18v. Great series btw.

    The later version has battery charge indicators on the back of each battery they are now much easier to remove as well. Single charger.

    Great reviews guys but I don’t think this has been the best review of this saw with you having battery issues , I’ve heard it’s pretty powerful and on par with the Dewalt flexvolt , I think it’s because you had an older tool with the old batteries to , would you be able to get your hands on the newer model with the airstream batteries to try out as a comparison against the flexvolt . Cheers keep the great reviews coming 👍

    That’s my biggest problem with 110v festool. Lacks bollocks. 1200w isn’t enough when mafell give 1400. I have the rip fence which is great but when the saw at arts to heat up it becomes torture.

    Hi there again, u know u two get on really nice together u would make a nice couple :). ....anyway yesterday I asked you about Mafell V festool corded. Would you still go for the mafell over this cordless festool plunge saw? Ps you did not mention the vacum bag - how good or bad it was,, any opinion?

    Power, or lack there of: Surely its down the actually power rating of the motor - how many Watts was it? Compare that to one of the AC mains powered version, often the battery powered one are lacking in comparison. Also was it DC brushed, or Brushless motor? (which is actually a 3 phase AC motor + inverter electronics) - as I have seen with Makita one gets a lot more efficiency and useful power out your typical Li Ion battery pack with one of their latest Brushless tools.Just one other thing about a 2nd battery - it would add the same capacity to deliver extra power whether in parallel or serial , the main thing about using a higher voltage is less power loss in cables (I squared R) - higher voltage, less Amps will flow, and power loss is the square of current.

    Good series lads. A little bit odd you are comparing cordless with corded though.

    • @JimboJet737

      I completely agree, its not at all a fair comparison and is actually a little misleading - though I fully appreciate you are doing your best. Any reason Festool won't send you a loan tool to evaluate? My feeling is that if they won't, its because they no it won't fair as well as some of the (undoubtedly cheaper!) competition.

    the reason why this saw seems under powered is due to it having the biggest kerf 2.2 mm thick no other brand uses a blade with this size kerf. but you will find the blade doesn't bend during cuts.

    Batteries need close attention. How quickly they can be recharged is for me a key parameter. I prefer two 3AHr batteries rather than one 6AHr battery since one battery can be on the charger while you use the tool. Choosing batteries with a fast charge rate is therefore Important so that you are not left waiting

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Rob
      I am assuming your question is genuine and not just rhetorical. Robin has owned a Festool for years. Roger had one but found it under-powered. They discussed this and talked about the pros and cons. The review was part of a series which culminated in them choosing their favourite saw out of all the ones they tested. Did Robin stick with Festool? Did Roger find something more powerful. Sorry if this was a difficult narrative for you to understand.

    He's using the old batteries...... I have the 5.2 amp batteries... they even have 6.2ah battery..... those batteries arent airstream. And also if the blade is old.... mine has plenty power in it.... never would store it outside in the cold. It feels on par with the 240v powered saws... so try using new equipment

    • @paulmcfadyen689

      O.k but this saw struggled so there is no use pretending it didn't. They still have time to send a brand new saw out and we will test that as well.

    • @oneillcfc7921
      @oneillcfc7921 6 років тому +2

      Yea but your comparing it to totally new tools.... and that's just not fair. You also say about storage... if it's stored outside... all the cells in the battery won't work either... especially thru the bad weather.
