This got me to buy the special edition on PS4 (it runs kinda weird and I prefer the OG soundtrack) but it's been so fun playing it again! Thank you.
That's awesome! I hope you enjoy it! I've heard the special edition on Playstation is a little wonky, but it's still a fun experience with a whole bunch of new mechanics and balances as opposed to the original.
I appreicate this video! This was my first official Harvest Moon game so I definitely have nostalgia for this one. I hope the remake does the game justice, so it far it seems like it's combining elements from A Wonderful Life, Another Wonderful Life and Special Edition plus additional content like more festivals like you mentioned. I'm also hoping the remake lets people with longer name be able to name their character, as someone with a 9-letter name it sucked not being able to name the character after me lmao.
I never finished this game either so I'm excited to hopefully finish it on the remake. Fingers crossed most of your guide is still true for the remake.

I personally vote Nami for the marriage candidate. I can't wait to see the hybrid plants and different animals. Are you planning to include any of the side animals like the turtle in the 100% run?
If only you were here sooner. I also voted for Nami, but I'm the head of a democracy, and it prevailed. Muffy had 70% of the vote when we decided who to marry, so she'll be the wife in future videos. When I do the SoS:AWL playthrough, I'll take another vote there too. Hopefully, we have a lot of representation for Nami! I do want to include the side animals, but I thought it was only rumored that you can get them on your farm. I'll look into it and see if it's possible in the original edition.
I swear there was a reward for befriending Nina before she passes, but maybe I'm just Mandela-ing myself.
In the special edition, there is a cutscene where she races a turtle lol
This was one of the only games my sister and I both loved. We bonded over money making methods and the best gifts for spouses, before we had easy access to the internet.

For the extra items, I have been able to obtain all 3 in the original version (necklace, drum/tumtum & music sheet). You can also get a gold medal from Wally. I have also heard you can get fireworks from Patrick or Kassey but have never been able to.

Someone's already mentioned Lumina's sheet music, but I'm also fairly positive you can get the drum set in AWL as well.
I've looked up a couple long plays and found some information that does confirm the extra items are possible in the original edition. There's also a couple of cutscenes that I thought you couldn't get, but you can so thats just more stuff! Thanks for watching and letting me know!

I think I might hold of on that type of video until the remake comes out. That information will probably be packaged with a whole bunch of other stuff about villagers like; what cutscenes they have, if they give gifts, what are their likes and dislikes, what are their schedules, etc.

I was playing AWL SE and got gifted the weird sickle from Cody, everywhere online I see that he’s only meant to gift a piece of art so did I get a glitch??
That's a great question! In AnWL, the girl edition that the special edition is based off of, Gustafa is a bachelor so Cody was given the task of gifting the Weird Sickle. I'm guessing they just kept that mechanic since it was easier than reverting it to the original edition.
how to improve a child's schooling skills, in chapter 3 you have to read a book in his room entitled "the seven wonders" but after a while the title doesn't exist, so what should you do?
My understanding of the books in the child room is that it reflects what their career is on track to be. If there are books about art and farming, he's on track to be an artist or a farmer. If books disappear, it's possible that his interests are moving away from whatever that book is hinting at.
I actually have everything for the friends of mineral town records. Its been a long while since I've played harvest moon though

Can i marry lumina in original edition ? And how ?
The "original" version of the game was released on March 16th, 2004. This version of the game does not include Lumina as a marriage candidate. On October 28th, 2005, a Special Edition was released for the Playstation 2, and is available for download on the PS4 store today. This special edition introduced a lot of mechanics that were added in the girl version, called Another Wonderful Life, along with some Quality of Life enhancements like adding the fertilizer maker, being able to have a daughter, and marrying Lumina! While I'm echoing what everyone else here has said about how hyped I am for this series, I also want to commend you on the quality of your video footage. Just about every AWL video I can find looks like it's been put through a blender or stretched to high heavens, but yours is so clean! It helps to recapture a lot of the magic I remember originally feeling with this game. Thank you for putting the effort into preserving this game's visuals through your videos!

Personally, I’d love to see a guide on befriending the villagers in the town. I feel as if this game has the most interesting connected townsfolk and I’d like to hear your thoughts and opinions as well as likes and dislikes etc haha

Do you have to really connect with the GBA link to get records? If you can respond, I would def appreciate! Right now I'm playing Another Wonderful Life on Gamecube via da Wii.
That's a great question! The intended method to getting the records in AWL and AnWL is to use the GBA link. With that being said, there is a way to get them, but there are a few drawbacks.
You can use the 3rd port, second controller Z glitch. It'll give you 99 of random items, including the records. @BryceTheRamenKing made a great video on how to do it that is easy to follow that you can find here: ua-cam.com/video/E2ZP18j87II/v-deo.html

FYI, you CAN get sheet music from Lumina in the original. I've done it. I don't know about the other two, though. Does Gamefaqs still exist? They'd have that info.

No worries about not having twitch! I appreciate the comment so much. The translation is super interesting. I guess the new remakes are more accurate, but I grew up with Muffy and Celia, so it's weird to call them something different. I know a lot of Molly's and Cecilia's, but those names don't have the same feeling associated with them than the wrongly translated names. I'm excited to play the game and get the second part of my 100% challenge out and I'm glad you enjoyed!

Thanks so much for watching and that's a great question! My understanding is that there is no friendship decay in AWL. Most of the cutscenes require a high friendship level, and I was still getting cutscenes with character I hadn't talked to for years lol

as soon as i saw the trailer for the remake the nostalgia train hit me and i had to go dig out my ps2 haha. just started Fall year 1 and only been playing 2 days lmao.
Would love a composite video of things to do per season per chapter, in order. like all the stuff that should trigger spring year one, then summer year one, fall year one, ect. like who needs to be befriended for events/gifts and when to trigger the event and what exceptions make the events not trigger, such as rain, or van being in town, stuff we might miss. maybe even a video per season. all the info online is a jumbled mess and trying to put it all in order through text is super annoying xD
Lol apparently I pronounce Lumina's name wrong as well. I say "loom-ina," when a lot of people in chat say "loo-me-nah." Making a per chapter checklist would be an interesting video. I'll look into it, for sure! Thanks for watching!

Another good tutorial style idea would be a video dedicated to each characters cutscenes, where and when to activate them and in what order. like all of Celia's or Nami's heart events or other cut scenes related to them in a single video. or a video dedicated to where, when and how to get each of the special tools. i would do this myself but i don't have the proper equipment to film ._.
I just know for the tools you have to get them in chapter 2 after you get the great field. for Galen's rod, if you don't know the specific rules to getting it, befriend him chapter 1, and in chapter 2, he will be too sad to talk or take gifts, you can get the rod in spring year 2, but you have to clean nina's grave first in the morning, then follow him back into his house after and he'll be happy enough to talk and give you the rod.
this one isn't actually a cutscene. no one ever specifies the details, just " be his friend in chapter 2 and go to his house in the morning and he'll give it to you " but its not that simple. I just got the rod from him but it took me forever to figure out why he wouldn't talk to me because no one ever said how to make him talk, just that he does xD
True, Galen's Rod is a super confusing acquisition if you've never played.
I've definitely considered making character specific videos. With the remake coming out, if I do make a video like that, it would probably include a lot of the cut scenes, but the narrative would be more like, "This is Celia and the heart events are x, y, and z and they detail how she's in the process of getting a marriage arranged."
Those videos would be more centered around them as a character in preparation for the remake.
i played the original as a kid (not special edition) and i know for sure that i got the drums from gustafa and lumina's sheet music, so im guessing the third one is obtainable as well!

So I'm totally digging this series, this is so cool! I've mentioned to a few people before, and never heard anything about this... but I feel like you might actually investigate this... when i played this on the GC, I swear to God that I managed to get my dog to watch the chickens whenever I would let them out of the coop. And I have never seen that anywhere else. Is it part of the game, or did I discover a hidden mechanic ??? I'm happy to say more on it if anyone is interested 🤷♀️

I'm pretty sure if you do the play/train(I forget what it was called but where he spins around??) command and get your dog to full hearts it does, I vaguely remember this too!
@@lilithlaney1759 yeah, I remember seeing a version where you could train your dog to do tricks ( that wasn't an option in mine ) . But basically one day I just started showing my dog the chickens, like holding them and then showing the pupper and he'd bark I think. And then after a few times of this, he'd watch them wherever I put them down, and if they wandered off a bit, he'd bark and they'd come back! It was super convenient for keeping them in a group while they were outside and not wandering all over the farm for me to find.
@@JackDuckGoose omg, you guys have no idea how many years I've just low-key wondered if it was just me or not 😂😂 I basically just tried it on a whim and based it off of training dogs irl! 🤷♀️ now it makes me wonder if they'll include it in the remake!

Oh man Im currently on my 100% run (according to the trophy system of the special edition), now I wish I watched ur 100% list a long time ago - the special edition is a downgrade in almost every regard lol.

Shout out to the algorithm gods! Also, I've only streamed twice since recording the audio for this list, and I've already found more custscenes that aren't listed on any website I used when doing my research. Most of them are my fault since I didn't know you could get the "Light in the Sky" custscenes in the original, but you can! The best thing about this game is that there are still surprises almost 20 years later.
This video makes me so happy. Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life and Another Wonderful Life were some of my favorites from my childhood. I never even knew about the completion aspect. This is actually inspiring me to do some gameplay on my channel 🥰

If you're doing alle the hybrid crops, then I think it would be good to get the crop shipping bin as well so you don't have to wait for Van to sell them.
