The E-class has always remained the most popular and best-selling limousine in the history of the German brand. And for good reason. It was an above-average car for those earning above-average money as well. The W211 generation debuted in 2002. The successor to the "four-eyes" slimmed down, received a number of technical innovations and better corrosion protection than its predecessor. It was a classy car, often bought by staid people and sensibly used. Mercedes E 320 CDI is a great configuration to drive, although this car has not been driven much so far.

I have the E270 CDI Avant-garde which is still going pretty well for a car almost 20 years old.
The W211 with the OM648 cast iron block w/ direct injection inline 6 cylinder will be the Next classic.
This model variant is last of ' The Best' as diesels go imho & those 7-spoke 16" wheels are very nice!

I got a 08' E350 W211 and love it! I've done a lot to it! Very reliable!

I have one of those. It is the Foxmobile!! Remapped to 270hp. 0 to 60 6seconds. 18 inch AMG wheels essential! A black tint on the head lights and straight pipes after rear muffler delete. It is a one off and long live the Foxmobile!!......

E320 CDI Avant-garde Estate 2004, just hit 200,000 miles and is still a great car to drive. Small electrical issues are it’s only problems but for an 18 year old car it’s fantastic. Great fuel economy and performance, I’d have another in a heartbeat.
Is yours the V6 or the inline 6 as in this video.
My dream car would be this car in the estate version but l don't think they were imported into Australia.
I agree that they are beautiful cars, but the early model with the SBC brakes are prone to electrical problems. The SBC brakes can make it uneconomical to repair.
I have a later V6 E320CDI, it's a brilliant car with no electrical problems.

Had a 2003 320cdi lovely car to drive good engine but plagued with electrical problems and rust the W12 is a better car

I love my 05 w211 with the om648 diesel last of the great diesels great car and very reliable can’t say the same about the om642 complete junk.

A word about the predecessor generation W210: This model series was by far the worst E-series in model history! It was already rusting in the catalogue, the diesel engines trailing a long trail of soot. Responsible for this was the then CEO Juergen Schrempp - for whom the disastrous merger with Chrysler was more important than perfect products. This eco sunk billions, he massively damaged Mercedes' image, it took over 10 years for the Mercedes brand to recover from Schrempp's adventures. So the W211 had a heavy legacy!
