- Derek and Akhona of travellernomads.com visit Angel Billabong on Nusa Penida, Indonesia. Several people have drowned here after being swept out to see, but during the visit people were still risking their lives to get selfies. About 2 mins after this clip was shot a massive wave entered the pool, and would have swept the guy who stood on the edge into the sea...
I had a neighbor friend that was on vacation in Hawaii when he was swept out to sea by a wave while he was walking along the beach. The body was never recovered. It devastated the family terribly. He was 17 years old.
That's horrific, I'm very sorry you lost your friend.
Horrific.. especially in areas like these where you can easily be swept into a hidden cave!!!
@@_Reviewer You’re the kind of person who asks people if it hurst after they’ve broken their leg, aren’t you!?
@@kaudsiz So? Is it wrong to ask somebody about their pain? I just explained the aftermath of that guy's drowning episode.

I feel like an IDIOT because I watched the entire video.

What happened is the Fool at the End of the Video turning his Back at the Ocean. He won't see a large Wave incoming, that would smash him into the Rocks before flushing him out and down the Cliff, where he couldn't climb back up and would most likely drown. The other People aren't clever either, but at least they can see what's coming and thus brace themselves. If there was any "Idiot Action" in this Video, it wouldn't be in Accirdance with UA-cam Guidelines.
Turning your back on the ocean like this is like turning your back on a stalking tiger. Both will try to kill you. Be safe people it isn't a game, there is no restart
I am not sure how the people in these comments don't see the danger in this. I am sure they are the same type of people who would do exactly what this guys did. :P Water is the most disrespected force of nature if you ask me. I do NOT play around with water.
Yup. The power of the hydraulic will kill you pretty quick. Moving water is not to be sneered at.
YES, exactly. Everyone feels like they are invincible now because they don’t pay attention to what harm natural things can do to them.
People risk way too much just for social media now days. It's all about getting likes and becoming instafamous. It's ridiculous really that people don't have to do much to Become famous influencers and that are youth strive to be just like them. Now I'm not at all putting down all social media influencers because there are many that do awesome things or that share their life's journey in healthy ways or tell stories ect but I'm talking about those who do dumb shit and just wave their arms around and call it dancing. Come on there are so many things we could do with more meaning.
add the fire to the list 😂 water & 🔥
I drink it and piss it out my dick for funsies
No way would I climb down there, it only takes one surge and you’re scraping the meat off your bones on those rocks.
😂😂😂👍
Sounds like a cool death metal track 🤘🤘🤘

Jesus dude, I think you just scarred my mind with this comment.
He needs to go to Yellowstone National Park and take a selfie with a bison or grizzly.
There needs to be a bucket list JUST for these guys and gals. SMH. And that list is provided to ALL first responders to communicate that they will NOT be intervening 🙂 Their 'commercial liability insurance' prohibits them (LOL!!!) 😉
Or Yogguie and Booboo🤣
This is the kind of reckless ass that does that. Your spot on.👍🏻🇺🇸
UA-cam viewer risks 01:01 of his life to see nothing.
Yep!
Lmao so true
how do you not see how much danger this r*t4rd put himself in. One surge and his legs, torso and arms are getting torn open on the rocks as he's sucked out into the churning depths. Theres a reason multiple people have died there. You can't argue with that stat.
🤣

Never underestimate the ocean tide. I had a friend run down to a narrow beach in Malibu and all of a sudden I see a towering wave about 10 feet tall almost get him.
Never turn your back to da ocean.
A rule you must remember when your out there.
What a beautiful place!

When the rocks are eroded from waves meters above your head, get out.
The beauty of social media is it is helping to thin out the herd.
No thining in this video.

Its inevitable
People saying that nothing happened should watch other videos of this place. The waves are crazy here. He was just an idiot who got lucky and was spared by the ocean.
You only live once, selfie is until end of humanity 🌝
Yes, and you only die once, lol
Theres boundaries ...respect mother nature and she'll respect you
Not necessarily. You can respect nature and still get killed.
And by the way, Nature is not a female. It's a set of inanimate phenomena.
@@PreservationEnthusiast 👍
@@PreservationEnthusiast by the way the term mother nature is used because an mother creates life regardless of species. Mother nature is used to reflect the creation of life. It's not reflective of assigning an gender to nature. It's reflective of raw primal creation, the womb of creation, the mother.
@@billweirdo9657 It's a load of bollocks and you know it. Like calling a ship a "she".
@@PreservationEnthusiast It's nothing like calling a ship a she. That would be representing an object as a personality. The human race has worshiped fertility as long as we have existed... its creation worship " mother nature " is an extension of this.
Stunning place. Paradise
Wow that water was at least 3 inches deep as it surged violently past him. He will be telling his grandkids about this for years.
Google Angel Billabong and see how many people have died there... There is a cliff at the edge of that shelf full of sharp rocks... If a big wave comes in it can suck the person off the shelf and then smash them against the cliff...

Those rocks are actualy razor blades
don t take such risk, its not worth it, one huge wave will pull them out to sea
Heart pounding suspense.
Bro was feeling like Poseidon
That was seat of my pants terrifying 🤣🤣😅😅.
When does the risking of life come in to play exactly? Or did I miss something?
You should never go near the edge of the pool as big waves could break out of no where suddenly and swept you off the edge ua-cam.com/users/shortsCNm7ipFoV3E?feature=share or this example ua-cam.com/video/6WJHwHEYwIg/v-deo.html
He is messing with water, on a shelf that has sharp rocks right next to where he is. All it takes is one slip, or one unexpected large wave to wash in and then drag him out. Then you get slammed into those rocks and torn apart, and likely drown.
He is outside, thus he is at risk of falling meteoroids.
◇ he gets maimed via wave activity, or even killed.
In other words, an other-worldly counterpart of his wasn't as lucky.
@@tkhotatia1163 ooh
I think the title and comments are a bit unfair...
It only takes one slightly bigger wave to pull him out and he's done. Pretty stupid imho
@@stefanovitali2925 Absolutely.. I just seen a video from the same location, the waves came in so big swept a man off the rocks into the water and was lucky he found his way to the edge and got out. It's a shame it didn't happen here. Would be an entirely different comment section 😅
How did that person even get down there?
It's interesting to me as an Aussie to see the word 'billabong' (which is an aboriginal word) applied to a Balinese location. Makes me wonder if it was applied by tourists?
IDK why it's called that. A billabong is a truncated river section. Nothing like this.
wave-"ima snatch yo life foo"
The only risk to his life was 1:01 minutes he aged.

Oh man... He was so close to death the video stopped before anything happened! Man that guy is crazy! Did you see the water come up and cover his feet!? Title should read "Idiot with camera films guy mindin his own business"
ITS NOT A SELFIE IF SOMEONE ELSE IS TAKING IT. ITS A PHOTO.
I don't think people get probability. Only one in a hundred will have something bad happen, so it seems like good odds, but the impact can often be life destroying. Like motorcycle accidents in bali.
I thought taking a selfie with a land shark was dangerous.
Si j'étais à sa place je ferais exactement pareil 👍
Vas-y... On besoin moins d'idiots
I was going to Diamond beach a few days ago .. i coulnt reach the beachbecause someonehad just died …
Wake me up,when the Wave is coming........
Never turn your back on the ocean
Did he died
No risk. No selfie. I want my money back.
Could do with a little sign there saying "danger, keep back", or something. I get that it would impact on the beauty of the spot, but people can be stupid.
Its interesting to see in the comments those that know and those that do not. Just a good habit to get into...never turn ur back on the water. Just kind of a respect/safety thing. And uhhh you know...waves do silly things. Silly violent things. Suddenly.
Nessas condições, se o mar leva não volta mais. E vai dar trabalho para o resgate achar o corpo.
Wait I was there in 2019. Just don't get too close to the edge.
Die geniessen das Leben👍😄
Click bait. It wasn’t a selfie and I didn’t see anyone almost lose their life.
What's so dangerous about that?
Many ways. If a surge strong enough to knock him off his feet, he’d most likely pinball against those sharp rocks and reef or get swept into sea with stronger tide( drown) and more reef (ripped to shreds)
Nah not that dangerous!!! Come to New Zealand 🇳🇿 I'll show you dangerous!!! In fact I'll show you shit your pants dangerous hahaha 😆 🤣 😜
Swept out to see what? Or is it 'Swept out to sea'?
Swept out to Indian Ocean during sudden rise in tides. The Indian Ocean current is really strong. Going inside the Angel Billabong lagoon, and especially next to the edge is pretty dangerous. You can be washed away in a second.
Idiots the ocean is something to respect and admire not fool with.
he risked his life because the water could wet him

Lots of people like risk...or the story of what that risk brings. Its why people sky dive for fun or climb mount everest or swim with sharks. Its the thrill that it brings. If you want to stay where its safe that all cool but don't call someone an idiot just because they like to live on the edge....in this case, literally.
I wouldn't compare this idiot to someone who climbs Everest. I can guarantee you the guy who climbs Everest looks at snow packs, judges exposure to falls, wind direction for coming weather, etc... This guy simply doesn't know or understand the risk he is taking. Thus I am with the poster he is an idiot. Taking risk with educated guesses and assumptions is very different than simply exposing yourself to risk because you overestimate your ability or underestimate the risk. If you asked this guy I would bet $100 he has no understanding of rip tides, undercurrent, etc... he just liked the photo and the ocean "looked fine" -- I am with the poster he is an idiot! he just happens to be an idiot who gets away with it. (which perpetuates the problem)
This is just a stupid risk taken for narcissistic reasons. Go to any beautiful, tropical, coastal place and you can witness this stuff. The ocean is nothing to play with. Guarantee the locals there wouldn't turn their backs on the sea in such a precarious place. Looks tame enough, but people die like this on a regular basis. Tourists mostly, who don't understand the danger.
@@mesk412 I get that doing it for a picture is a little much but maybe he wanted to be able to remember the place. But like I said it's his risk not yours don't know why it upsets you. Do you get mad at every bungee jumper you see?
@@mesk412 under that logic everyone who has ever swam in the ocean is an idiot because it's dangerous, they could get caught in a current and drown or be attacked by a shark.
@@marksalza1114 I'm not upset by it. But it's fact that people get swept away in these situations. Go ahead and join him if you ever visit this place.
Oh wow, so scary 🙄
