In Kolkata, we Bengalis generally eat khichdi (khichudi) on rainy days/during the monsoon. Unlike North Indians, we don't have curd with it. We generally have something fried along with khichdi such as fried baingan, fried eggs, or even fried fish. We also put lots and lots of seasonal vegetables in our khichdi. 🌻
Apart from that, we make khichdi even for 'bhog' agar ghar pe koi Puja wagehra ho toh! 🌻
in gujrat we also eat khichdi normally plain but when we want to eat something spicy then masala khichdi.👍

Bhaiya aapne bilkul sahi bola ki khichdi patients ke liye kabhi kabhi banti hai par acche se banayi jaye to wo bohot tasty hota hai. Like I am from Kolkata and in West Bengal, jab koi puja hota hai kisi jagah pe ya kisi ghar pe...tab "bhog" mein zyadatar khichdi banti hai along with some authentic bengali veg dishes, chutneys, papad, mithaiya, and sometimes payesh(kheer) or mishti doi(meethi dahi) to end with...aajkal aur bhi bohot saare tarah ke bhog chadhaya jaata hai...par sabse zyada authentic bhog shayad khichdi hi hota hai. Aur wo khichdi banti hai aromatic Bengali ghee se....and wo khichdi ka taste alag hi hota hai. Agar aap kabhi West Bengal aate hai, to ho sake to kahin pe authentic bengali khichdi khake jana...you will love it. And yes I am a hard core non-vegetarian....and I surely feel that non-veg has way more dishes and varieties than veg, and according to me is also tastier than veg. But veg is a healthier option from most of the aspects. It actually depends how much convenient a person is to have which kind of food. But I'll always support non-veg....kyunki Bangali hai yaar.😁😁😁
