I saw Larry Carlton twice at a small dinner theater in New Jersey in the early 90' s called Club Bene (best guess of the time period) where both times, because I paid for the dinner before the concert, I got great seats only about 10 feet away from Larry...Both times were amazing, although neither time did Larry play those times on his ES 335....He had a vintage Les Paul (with soap bar pickups) one time and the other time a vintage Strat. It was funny seeing him play Room 335 on those two guitars, but an amazing experience just the same. Thanks for doing the video Morten... All the best. Philip
MORTEN, first you deserve huge congratulations for your so great playing and precious teaching . That's so precious . Here you capture perfectly Larry CARLTON's ways , figuring phrasing , tone , and subtle touch . May I ask you some details as I intend to play this piece with big Harmony Orchestra if we can obtain some good arrangement as the wonderful SWR 's one . My questions are about the material set you use for this lesson : amp , effects , solid body guitar , and mainly choice of strings and gauge . I only have archtop guitars with heavy gauge ( 13 / 52 ) and that doesn't allow bends to accurate one step ( full tone ) and if you reach the pitch without bends when using other fingering you lose completely the melodic beauty . THANKS to share .
Thank you man! I had never listened to anything by Larry Carlton. I listened to that song for the first time today and it it was love at first listening.

This LC solo blew my mind in the late 1970s when the album came out - and it still does. Outstanding as always, Morten.

Typical Charlie Parker/Dexter Gordon arpegios. Very CONFIRMATION like. Not even.
