Very Cool, Thankyou Dunsy. Stunning looking, sounding Guitar. My awesome Artist Guitars TC59 is my "Tele Deluxe" guitar. Amazing 'Closing Jam', Loved it. All the Best. Cheers
I also have a mid-90s 72 MIJ Tele and its interesting that you find the neck to be muddy and the body to be light. I think mine is pretty heavy compared to other Teles and my neck is very clear. Wild how the same models can differ so much. Thank you for sharing; I love your vids!
Love it. My favourite Teles are the Custom & Deluxe. I've played an original twice, once in a guitar shop in Laguna, California and then one when I lived down south and had a go of one that belonged to a guy who collected them. From what I remember, the originals sounded a wee more airy, more like a P90. But yours sounds decent. I think places llke The Creamery do more vintage sounding wide range buckers these days.
Yeah, I've tried a MIM Deluxe and it was definitely much more open sounding than the neck pickup in this one. Coupla folks have suggested changing pots/caps to see if that helps, so I'll give that a wee go.
I think that's a regular humbucker made to look like a CuNiFe wide range. Fender didn't make them again properly until recently. Great demo! It definitely sounds muddier than the CuNiFe wide range that was fitted to my custom shop 72 from 2020. I think thats about the time they started making them with the proper magnets. I did a demo on mine for comparison a wee while ago.
Ah, nice - will check out the video. I've only used a MIM Deluxe and the neck pickup didn't sound anywhere near as bassy as this one. Might be the pot/cap as others have said. One to investigate further.
D, re: neck mudfest. Verify the volume pot for the neck is 500k and not 250k - you could even go 1meg on the neck volume pot. Also, bypass the tone control on the neck pup. That might get you there really cheaply. Also, Sister Havana is always appreciated.
There's never enough UO in guitar videos these days - I always try my best to include some. I need to expand my repertoire tho! Good info re the pots, will definitely give that a wee go. Hope you're well - I need to drop you and email, it's only been about a year!
Your pal has bought a beautiful guitar, no doubt. He needs to keep it. But, yes I agree its a woolly neck sound. There must be a scarf under the pickup cover. See what I did there? 😁🤦♂️. Sorry…
Love these so much I just bought a fender japan myself With that said I’ve played the original 70s… way too heavy to play with without compressing your lower spine on a 4 hour gig.. and the American reissues don’t get the burst correct.. a lot less red… I prefer the Japanese one my play, feel and look Great video
Yeah, I've played a couple of 70's Fender guitars that were damn heavy! I like this one, plays great and looks great - just the issue with the neck pickup. Couple of folks have mentioned changing pot/caps to see if that free's it up a wee bit.
Yeah, it seems almost okay with gain and some EQ, but definitely not usable for every day stuff. Might try swapping pots/caps to see if that clears things up a bit.
The neck pickup should sound clear and not woooly, would check the pots and caps if somebody has been in there already. i prefer the deluxe, looks great with the strat headstock.and bullet truss rod adjuster. The 2 humbuckers it is very versitile.. thanks for posting Dunsy.
I love the combination of three tone sunburst and black scratchplate!
A classic look for Rock and Roll.
I agree with you on the pickup sound. Love the three tone sunburst. I'd love a strat in that finish.
Yeah, it's definitely a looker. Classic Rock and Roller.
Very nice tones out of this one, Dunsy!! Bonus points for the cool shirt you're wearing 🤠
Good fun Rock and Roll!
Beautiful guitar! I love guitars like this. Congrsts! Great sound! Rock on Dunsy!🎸🎸
Thank you kindly!

TC59 looks very cool!

Thank ya! Yeah I'm not 100% sure what's going on with the neck pickup. I'm going to investigate changing pots/caps to see if that helps.
👍🏻👍🏻 Great end tune, Dunsy! Definitely needed a scrub!
A hose down in the back garden!

Excellent Brother!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thank ya for checking it out, Sir - Rock and Roll!

Great playing! You should really compile your instrumentals and release an album.
I could fund my full retirement! If I live very frugally, obv.
@ for the record, I’m not joking. I love listening to your playing.
Hello Dunsys good video, excellent guitar, try a 1M volume pot for that wide Range pick up
Yeah, I think that's the way to go before changing pickups etc, see if that clears it a wee bit.
sounds good dunsy
Thank ya - looks cool as.

I did indeed! It's like a Shetland sheep that's badly needing a trim!

Great looking guitar. The neck pickup sounded better with more overdrive
Yeah, I think with some drive it was much better. Definitely something not quite right when it's clean.
Got to agree the HB sounds very thick and muddy I would consider swapping it out.

Yeah, I think that's where the issue must be - will try different pots and caps and see if that lets a bit more (lot more!) treble out.
Great guitar. You’re right about that neck pickup though. It doesn’t sound right at all. It should warm but cutting through
It's like it's from a Gibson bass!
It's a wooly neck for sure
Like an overgrown Shetland sheep!
Thought it was a wide single coil.Shows what I know
Sounds like it might be a pickup from a bass!
I think the deluxe looks cooler but the custom having the single coil feels more like a tele to me.
Yeah, that's a great way to put it. Cheers for checking out the video too, much appreciated.
nice guitar but id be temted to swap that neck pickup , sound flat as a fart on it
Almost like a bass pickup on clean tones.
