I read the light novel and I can tell you that what comes after is not that good. So it also has its good moments, but for that you have to have real perseverance.

From how repressed we tend to hear their lives are, it makes sense their culture at large is kinda shaped to want so much of the same thing. Take the revenge-on-bullies trope in school mangas.
