- Die Scorpions sind eine deutsche Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Band aus Hannover.
Die erfolgreichste Besetzung der Scorpions waren Francis Buchholz (Bass), Klaus Meine (Gesang), Matthias Jabs (Gitarre), Rudolf Schenker (Gitarre) und Herman Rarebell (Schlagzeug). In dieser Besetzung veröffentlichen sie Hits wie „Blackout", „Still loving You", „No one like you" oder „Rock you like a Hurricane" , die international bis heute zu den Rockklassikern gezählt werden. In Deutschland wird der Sound der Band oft auf ihre Ballade „Wind of Change" reduziert.
Charakteristisch für den Sound sind harte Powerchord-Gitarrenriffs von Rudolf Schenker im Zusammenspiel mit den melodiösen Soli von Matthias Jabs sowie die hohe metallische Stimme von Frontmann Klaus Meine und solide simple Standard-Schlagzeug-Rockbeats. Häufig zählt man sie zu den Initiatoren der so genannten Powerballade.
Bands wie Metallica, Bon Jovi, und Def Leppard spielten in jungen Jahren als Vorband für die Scorpions. Billy Corgan, Frontmann der Smashing Pumpkins, zählt die Scorpions als seinen größten musikalischen Einfluss. Gleiches gilt für Bands wie Van Halen, Bon Jovi oder System of a Down, welche auch einzelne Songs der Scorpions gecovert haben.

I am a US ARMY vet who served proudly in WEST GERMANY during the cold war. Iam also a german american. Thank GOD the war never went hot but it did i would of died proudly for my country and for my German people. This song always brings tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you.

This is music at it's ultimate best. It just doesn't get any better than this. The ineffable emotions that get evoked in me every time I listen to this absolutely sublime work of art is palpable. Quite rightfully hailed as the Global Anthem of peace this song has incredible healing powers. Damn...if only today's music were as half as good as this...*sighs*

72 and still listen to The Scorpions. This is one of the greatest rock ballads in my opinion. I have enjoyed rock now for over 60 years.

I was born in the early 90's and grew up with all my elders playing this classic masterpieces!!! My children will grow up listening to this, the songs NEVER get old.

Can not hear this without remembering the night in November of 1989 when all the world watched the Berlin Wall being dismantled, I have never felt so happy for a people. Great tune!
I was and still am a die hard scorpions fan since 1995 but I had only heard there albums up to savage amusement, in 2002 I decided to listen to crazy world and it was first time I heard this song wow how could I missed this beautiful song.

I first heard them in Germany singing in German of course. A very memorable experience. Very very few groups come close to them.

Powerful, poignant song from an awesome rock band. Klaus Meine always had such an amazing voice. Only got to see them live once, but turned out to be such a memorable gig, for so many reasons, not least doing a bit of impromptu roadie-ing and making a complete arse of myself at the after-show party! Wonderful memories from a great period in my life!

I was a teenager when this song came out and listening to it now brings back so much memories of the great times I had in the 90's living in a foreign country and seeing history taking place with the Berlin walls coming down! I hope the same can be said of the struggle for self determination by my brothers in West Papua! I hope the wind of change has started blowing for you!

My husband and I were working and living in Death Valley Nat'l Park when we bought this and we'd crank it all the way up on weekends when it was 126 outside in July. We'd take our dog for a walk and we could hear the music even during high sandy winds. My husband died in 08 of cancer, so it makes me sad and yet real good too because all I remember are the happy times from the 90's. So many, many wonderful memories I think of with each song.THANKS!!!
Saw them in the late 80's at Newcastle town hall.. Klaus got a bit over enthusiastic, jumping onto the bass drum and knocked the whole kit over.... credit to the roadies... it was back up and running in about 2 minutes.... German efficiency has its benefits. One of my all time favourite bands.
