Skate 3 has the best mechanics of the series if you play on hardore but it has the most terrible map. Everything is oversized. You can literally walk under the handrail in the Black Box Skatepark. The perfect Skate game would be Skate 3 with the map of Skate 2. BTW the art gallery is the best DLC and the After Dark DLC is free.
10:13 And Bubba come crawling out the back door, both trucks missing... Lula May’s Baby Boy And he looked up at me, he said 'Aron, I can't feel my competition scores...' and I said 'Bubba, they ain't there'
The first layer of pro challenges is follow to unlock the second layer with the good pro challenges. Skipping them is making you miss out on some sweet pro challenges
Joseph Lozano that’s not true. The lizard follow unlocks the lizard gaps and TK challenges, the Haslam follow unlocks the koston line challenge, Carroll unlocks Lucas Puig / Lakai challenge etc etc.
Skate 2 is my favourite as well. However I have so much fun making my own spots on skate 3 with park editor. I have a school yard with a triple set, bump to table, four block and remade the rail Mark Appleyard back lips at the end of his sorry part and on the thrasher cover. Add in a few rails and ledges and I have more fun then in the actual city.
Only problem I had with the park editor was it's always limited to 30fps no matter what you put in it. It really takes the fluidity out of Skate 3 for me
Skate 2 is a bigger game GigaByte wise as well. Skate 2 was the closest black box came to their vision of skate game. And besides, 3 is too segregating. The 3 difficulties and the fans of each never get along with each other
I feel like difficulty levels is a dumb reason to feel "segregated". Almost every game in existence has difficulty settings. As far as file size, compression can change that. It's not a measure of content.
Brandon Johnson people who exclusively play hardcore dog on easy players that trickline, and normal mode players that are competitive. And people who don't skate realistic don't quite comprehend the style-esque way of playing At least in skate 2, there was no other difficulties. There weren't even other styles or postures. The equilibrium was perfect with the formula they had
That's a problem with individual people, not the game in any way. If you are such an idiot that you would trash talk people because of a way they enjoy a game, you are toxic for the community. Having different styles is awesome. If you want to just sit back and relax you can. If you want to create some super realistic looking footage, you can. If you want to try to play competitively, you can. It's up to you how you want to have fun. That is never a bad thing.
To add to the product placement of Miracle Whip: There is a trick called the "Miracle Whip" and an achievement for doing it. The trick is simply a superdude flip (back or front flip).
Some of your shots at the end should have been advertisements for the game. I used to have skate 2, but my life kinda fell apart and therefore video games fall to the wayside. Many years later I try to find skate 3. Great. It’s fucking hard to find. My gf found it online and so I’ve been waiting for it to arrive. Every one of rad rats reviews are enjoyable to watch. Thanks for holding this skating fiend over.
"You only hear Reda when you hit board milestones, though." Not true, actually. If you don't do challenges for a long time, Reda will eventually contact you and tell you to do challenges.
Dude, l'm 40 with knees that will not allow me to skate as I wish anymore (LAME) but l still to today play Skate3 as my skate outlet, and there is such an underground scene still that exist. Online, hardcore thumb shredders that kill, and keep it real. The parks that individual's create are all insanely good too. I never played Skate 1 or 2. I went straight from THPS WasteLand to Skate3 , so my mine was blown with this game, back in 2010. The one thing I could had wished for in the THPS games was replays, and this game's got it! So my opinion.. Skate3 !!! Cheers!
For online definitely stick with skate 3 but if you enjoy career mode and/or freeskating I highly recommend getting 2 and maybe even 1. The maps on those game are much more realistic and immersive and the map isn't split into different portions so you can just keep freeskating for hours
Virtua Skimmer If you have the parks saved or already downloaded on your account than you can still skate them. But you can't download other peoples parks anymore if you haven't already done so before the servers went down, the only way to play them is if someone else who has them invites you
OG skate had the best version of San Vanelona, skate 2 had better lighting and was amazing for photos & filming (filming in skate2 was way harder than in 3 due to camera getting stuck if it came in touch with the ground or objects) skate 3's hardcore mode freshened stuff up and made stuff trickier and look more legit but CAP mode really kept the game alive for years
Half of the follow challenges end up into being actual challenges Idk whats so hard about follow challenges seeing as you dont need to be doing tricks all the way there Also you can change the gender of your team mates in the edit skater section for each team member, dont know why that had to be pointed out
I just got this game for the first time: I gotta say the deathraces are my favorite thing. But that might be cuz in real life I like bombing hills way more than actually trying to do tricks
I actually don’t know what he’s talking about when he says there are no preset girl teammates. They are skater 6 through 10. Little detail I thought I put it out there Now waiting for TH Proving Grounds. I think I’m the only person who likes Project 8and Proving Grounds a lot. They are shitty in terms of optimization but gameplay is fine
Part on the races was such an overlook... They were fun and if you won all of them you got some cool blue wheels... How can you not even play them just say you can't be bothered... It's supposed to be a review that's the whole point... Lmao
Love the videos! After 6 years of just messin around on this game, i recently killed every challenge and unlocked all achievements on xbox, i wish i had xbox live to 100% it.
13:32 I bought all the dlc, including time is money pack so that I can create WaCkY skate parks right away. I only bought this AFTER I accidentally sold my working hard drive instead of my broken one, I undid every thing, and shoved it on my kitchen table thinking that the one on the table works, the one on the counter dosnt. My friend picked it up for 3 bucks to fix it for himself, and then he called saying that there was stuff on it and he ended up accidentally reformating it all. This is when I bought the dlc.
You can switch the list on the bottom right to become the kill it objective once you have already owned it and select the "kill it" option when trying to do the challenge again.
I respect the Tony Hawk games and I know a lot of people love them (I even own and enjoy the 1+2 remake) but to me something about the presentation and feel of Skate 3 is amazing. Sure the game is buggy and janky but I think that adds to the fun of it... It also probably helps that the song "Comin' Home" by Cheeseburger is still stuck in my head more then a decade later.
Your comment on skate 1 being the worst due to lacking walking i had my brother make a valid argument to that back when skate was new. He said the game was called SKATE not WALK.
Skate 3 is by far my most favorite. And about the map; apart from 2 race routes and some routes that connect the areas together there is no downhill. And most of the world's areas are normally sized houses, pools, rails, etc. The mega ramps and such are far apart from the rest of the world with some being directly connected to one of the downhill routes (teleporting whichever area you want on the pauze menu map is also a thing). The rest is in maps that arent in the world itself (like the final score you have to beat at a mega park). I also can play with the low camera that much. Ones you are able to choose between the camera options there is no way back. Also, less finnicky physics and your character off board controls ok now so you can actually get around unlike 2.
At 8:00 I think it calls it cab because you did a 180 so you were going fakie in the air by the time you did the grab then you rotated the extra 560 degrees
Your reasoning for picking your favorite was exactly the same as mine. 2 remains my favorite because even though the gameplay in 3 was fine-tuned and perfected, the city is just miles superior and at the end of the day, it comes down to the spots.
advanced tripod camera > advanced free camera. love your series and reviews. Also agree with most things you say, except some of the things about transition, and danny way's thing. you need to pull backwards on the the left thumstick to stay inside the ramp
This game was lowkey perfect in my opinion. I loved the music whenever i hear a song from that game in another its so nostalgic and i made a character based on my homies from irl to skate with them even if i wasnt online haha
What a coincidence. I just found my old 360 in the closet yesterday and went and bought Skate 3, then this video pops up for me today. Just a couple things. 1. You CAN see Kill It objectives before you start. Just wait a couple seconds and the objective switches from "Own It" to "Kill It". 2. If you actually did the "Follow" missions for Pros, you'd see there is quite a bit more. Almost all of them have a short "story line" where you follow them to a location then have other objectives, such as jumping out of a pool onto a roof. 3. There are no guys on the preset skater list, but you CAN easily change them to females in the menu by just clicking the "change gender" button. 4. I'm very surprised you didn't mention the absolutely horrible pedestrians. They constantly get in your way and it even seems like during some challenges they huddle up in front of where you need to jump or grind. Very obnoxious. 5. No mention of the updated Hall of Meat? It's a significant change.
they were still there if i remember but i think there was only like two or three deathraces on streets but most where on ditches but yea i love the last race on the skate path
I love how you skate with the pros to get a shoe sponsor but you never pick a shoe sponsor. I also don’t know why we don’t pick a truck or wheel sponsor either.
The skate 3 edit was sick! For your question- skate 3 is really good for its custom skatepark feature, updated running/ walking movements, and online features. However skate 2 I believe is the best because of the huge world with a bunch of cool spots as well as theme of the game. Skate 2 also feels way more realistic.
Man, I played this game so much when I was younger, I love it. Unfortunately I gave away my xbox so I can't play it anymore. I really hope that session becomes a huge success and maybe they will even make skate 4, we can all hope.
Skate 2 is the only one I don't have but I will eventually. Skate was one of my first PS3 games along with CoD4 and GH3. I had the most fun with the original when the online was brand new.
i loved your part tzere where u showed of your skate3 created filmz, your one of my favorite yourtuber for longer now but after i saw this, the love increased😁👍
I don't know why people hate the death races so much its kinda easy especially in skate 3 because In skate 3 death races you can just bullshit your way to the finish line you don't have to hit any gates except for the last one. For example the death race that you showed in this video once you get to the road you can just skitch a car to the finish line. In skate 2 its kinda harder but you can bullshit your way to the finish but the way the death races work in that game is that you have a 60 second timer and you need to hit the gates to add to the timer and you don't have to hit EVERY gate but you need to keep hitting enough gates so your timer doesn't run out
I got this for a song at a pawn shop. Been playing a little bit. I never played Escape game before, and I really like the control control scheme, especially coming from having played Tony Hawk in the past. I like that they toned-down the physically impossible feats endemic to Tony Hawk games, but I wish that they had toned it down just a little bit more. I think the right balance in a game is allowing the player to do things that are technically possible in real life, with an upper limit of allowing for things that are possible but improbable.
I've only played skate 3, so I'll definitely have to get skate 2 as well. I agree with you on the "mega" stuff, as it trends a little too far into THPS territory, which isn't what I think the skate series is about. That said, there are plenty of realistic spots, and I've put 100+ hrs into this game, and I still find new and creative ways to hit spots. Being able to drop some plywood over a grass gap to open up access to a rail. Dropping a kicker ramp to be able to grind a sign. Placing a steel pole to get a cool new grind to ledge or something like that. I like the creativity the game encourages outside the main campaign. That said, based on peoples comments, I'm pretty excited to check out skate 2, though I'll definitely miss the skateboard run ups for tight spots. P.S. Awesome skate clips too! I thought I was good at this game...but I no longer think that haha Keep up the great videos!
it seems like NOBODY knows about the right and left bumpers in this game. Nothing compares to Skate 3 because the bumpers manipulate your physics and trajectory. The running makes it the best game, and the skateparks can get INSANE! Theres like 3 huge reasons this game is better than Skate 2. When the characters get boring you can create a bunch of alternate reality characters like pretending your Joslin when playing as Brezinski.. Or pretending Atiba is an old Nyjah who is making a comeback at like 29.. Danny Way and Chris Haslam wind up being some imaginary european skaters with fucked up switch ledge tech. Josh Kalis winds up being a less whack Sewa Kroetkov like if he got on DGK instead of redbull.. Mike Carroll becomes Vincent Alvarez.. Fabio is clearly Fabrizio Santos' son, so I pretend he's as fucked as his dad would be if he were born later.. Reda and Cuz are filming for the Tired video and a kickflip out of a 5050 is nuts.. this game is way too cool.
The Miracle Whip branding is also why they snuck in a trick name that doesn't exist. The Superdude (probably not the real life name of the trick) in Skate 3 is when you grab with both hands and press B, which makes your character lift the board above them. If you do either a front flip or a back flip while doing a Superdude grab, the game will call it a miracle whip. I don't think that trick has ever/will ever be done, and I don't think that would be the name of it either.
I liked the grimier, more realistic graphics of 1 but ended up spending 3 in free skate for most of the time because of the more precise gameplay and the whole super vibrant look of the game. I'll give 2 another try some day.
Skate initially was developed to be a realistic, serious approach. The first game was a true competitor for the Tony Hawk games. Activision even had to try to go the same road with Underground. When the Tony Hawk series died, EA seemed to leave their initial path and go all out for maximum profit. Skate 2 was already going there and 3 had arrived. I think it will need a new developer and a new approach to finally make a true skateboard game. With more arising indy developers, the chances seem greater than ever.
Skate 3 is so awsome man , I still plug in my ps3 from time to time to play it. Actually my favorite skateboarding game. I wish I had a chance to play skate 2 everyone says the city is much better. But 3 definitely haves better mechanics.
that’s not the filmer pack, the game comes with the advanced cams. the filmer pack gives you more advanced speed control, shake, contrast, brightness etc.
This was an amazing review, but I believe you got the filmer pack wrong. You don't need to have the pack to use the advanced camera options. The filmer pack adds the option for saturation, contrast, gama, etc. (basically the photo challenge options) and using keyframes for each one.
Dang, I actually loved the Deathraces in this game xD I completed all of them in one sitting, haha. The only frustrating aspect was the spotty AI; sometimes your opponents would be really docile and you can easily get in first or become really aggressive and knock you off of your board as soon as you get in their proximity!
The Soundtrack of Skate 1
The World of Skate 2
The Mechanics of Skate 3
And boom, you've got a perfect Skate game.
Mix of Skate 1 and 2 soundtrack would be perfect
With a hint of Skate It, if anything was different in that. I love Ghost Town.
BUT bails of skate 2
Well said
Ghostt Town, as in the Specials song? That's in Skate 2 as well.
Also can we all just a agree the "Killed it" sound effect is so satisfying
Just as satisfying as the Trophy *BING* and Achievement *BLOOP* imo 😂 👍
It’s on the same level as leveling up on OG MW2
Skate 3 has the best mechanics of the series if you play on hardore but it has the most terrible map. Everything is oversized. You can literally walk under the handrail in the Black Box Skatepark. The perfect Skate game would be Skate 3 with the map of Skate 2.
BTW the art gallery is the best DLC and the After Dark DLC is free.
Tiramisu #1P4PGOAT truth
Yeah dude! Art Gallery is so sick! Best place to kick it, from the streets to the ill park! Cheers!
Tiramisu #1P4PGOAT its free on the xbox 360?
The best part about the Art Gallery is jumping over the fence behind where the skater first spawns and skating that part of the map.
The art gallery was rushed and has some glitches but it is nice to skate a iconic skate series spot on the best mechanics of the series
10:13
And Bubba come crawling out the back door, both trucks missing...
Lula May’s Baby Boy

and I said 'Bubba, they ain't there'
lol. so tragic!
The first layer of pro challenges is follow to unlock the second layer with the good pro challenges. Skipping them is making you miss out on some sweet pro challenges
micro christ but all you do is play one up with them...
Joseph Lozano that’s not true. The lizard follow unlocks the lizard gaps and TK challenges, the Haslam follow unlocks the koston line challenge, Carroll unlocks Lucas Puig / Lakai challenge etc etc.
plus you can just run beside them for half the follow challenges anyway
nightmares
Skate 2 is my favourite as well. However I have so much fun making my own spots on skate 3 with park editor. I have a school yard with a triple set, bump to table, four block and remade the rail Mark Appleyard back lips at the end of his sorry part and on the thrasher cover. Add in a few rails and ledges and I have more fun then in the actual city.
Indeed that's why Skate 3 rocks!
Only problem I had with the park editor was it's always limited to 30fps no matter what you put in it. It really takes the fluidity out of Skate 3 for me
Damn, the created parks were how i spent most of my time in this game. After I beat it, I skated created parks all day. There were some awesome ones.
I always loved Redas voice behind the camera.
And people who don't skate realistic don't quite comprehend the style-esque way of playing
At least in skate 2, there was no other difficulties.
Channel33 What?!? GAMERS playing GAMES and having FUN?!? BLASPHEMY!!
skate 3 hardcore realistic is amazing but i wish the framerate wouldnt drop when u create parks.
To add to the product placement of Miracle Whip: There is a trick called the "Miracle Whip" and an achievement for doing it. The trick is simply a superdude flip (back or front flip).
No talk about glitches? lack of security? no skate stoppers?
Some of your shots at the end should have been advertisements for the game.
I used to have skate 2, but my life kinda fell apart and therefore video games fall to the wayside.
Many years later I try to find skate 3.
Great. It’s fucking hard to find.
My gf found it online and so I’ve been waiting for it to arrive.

I hope to see some session let's plays when that's out

Not true, actually. If you don't do challenges for a long time, Reda will eventually contact you and tell you to do challenges.

Virtua Skimmer If you have the parks saved or already downloaded on your account than you can still skate them. But you can't download other peoples parks anymore if you haven't already done so before the servers went down, the only way to play them is if someone else who has them invites you
michael swanson th wasteland is garbage.
Thps4 is the best.
Where is the mega ramp at 8:02? I don’t think I’ve seen it before.
So close to 25k subs, keep it up
he did it
4 years later, he’s on the verge of hitting 70k 👊
Skate 3 serves are back up now! Except the website.

Cab is when you're going fakie after steve caballero. Fakie 360 is caballerial. Maybe a glitch in the gane thinking you're going fakie

my biggest gripe is half the time you use the session marker it's changes the song.

zukodude487987 oh man funny af
wow i got here from watching ur XL SKATING video how times have change man, great job on the dedication to skating video games bruh..👍
I can't believe skate 3 came out in 2010. It seems almost current since there aren't really any other skating games around these days.
And the ones that have come out look obviously less polished in the animations and city design
15:30 what song is playing? Sounds like a banger
Skate 3 is by far my most favorite. And about the map; apart from 2 race routes and some routes that connect the areas together there is no downhill. The GOT edition was out for so long definitely worth picking up
Thanks for uploading. Your channel just keeps getting better.
skate 2 will always reign supreme
the only skate game that i CANT FUCKING PLAY BECAUSE I DONT HAVE A 360 OR PS3
Deathrace is so fun tho
I can't be the only one that looks forward to his vids.
I don’t get y u don’t like the Death Races, those are super fun!
i found them easy tbh too 3 fixed the issue of traffic and you could just punch the other skaters off
nes I enjoyed the challenge of the cars and the skaters, it would also be fun to watch the skater fly off his board when they got hit
they were still there if i remember but i think there was only like two or three deathraces on streets but most where on ditches but yea i love the last race on the skate path
Yeah, I find them the most fun challenges in the series, figures as I'm a big SSX fan too.
Skatermanbuns they aren’t fun though
17:42 I like how he just decked that guy in the face and kept skating. lol
Forgot to talk about the addition of real hippy flips etc. But still 10/10 ❤
What park is that?? 16:53
How can you make a Skate 3 video without mentioning the hilarity that is Hall of Meat?! AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN TALK ABOUT ALL THE EPIC GLITCHES!!!
how do i find the spot at 16:55
I love how you skate with the pros to get a shoe sponsor but you never pick a shoe sponsor. I also don’t know why we don’t pick a truck or wheel sponsor either.

The song used for the montage at the end??
I have and still play this, I just get bored of it quick as I'm already at max level and it now doesn't seem as fun not being able to rank up
I don't know why people hate the death races so much its kinda easy especially in skate 3 because In skate 3 death races you can just bullshit your way to the finish line you don't have to hit any gates except for the last one.
I thought I was good at this game...but I no longer think that haha
Keep up the great videos!
Nice video once again! Keep up the good work. PS:You should try Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer or Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX 2 if you have time :P.
STUNTMEISTER67 so every Activision O2 game
Rob V. I'm pretty sure there's more than 2 of those haha
Do you start on the mega park
it seems like NOBODY knows about the right and left bumpers in this game.
I don't think that trick has ever/will ever be done, and I don't think that would be the name of it either.
about the filming part: advanced cameras and uploading to the skate.reel was a free feature in skate 3 and not DLC.
I want Skate 3 just to make stupid skate videos
Your eyes were bout to pop out your head Jesus
what song is that in the montage
I still think this is better than Skate 2, and even though you say you like Skate 2 more you grinded that game way more.
is it possible to do a noseblunt on transition?
Joseph Gay yeah
Joseph Gay u need to ollie up before u hit the coping do a 180 and push your nose down on to the coping.
Awesome video dude! I have a question, will you be making more designs for shirts?
3:22 who else got that feeling in there through when he bailed!?
Thanks for the upload
Such easy platinums 2&3
Skate 2 also had red/blue 3-D mode. I played it like that a lot. After a while the color normalizes. I
Wish they had kept it in 3.
that’s not the filmer pack, the game comes with the advanced cams. the filmer pack gives you more advanced speed control, shake, contrast, brightness etc.
radrat the type of dude to make a skate 3 sponsor me vid
This was an amazing review, but I believe you got the filmer pack wrong. You don't need to have the pack to use the advanced camera options. The filmer pack adds the option for saturation, contrast, gama, etc. (basically the photo challenge options) and using keyframes for each one.
Dang, I actually loved the Deathraces in this game xD I completed all of them in one sitting, haha. The only frustrating aspect was the spotty AI; sometimes your opponents would be really docile and you can easily get in first or become really aggressive and knock you off of your board as soon as you get in their proximity!
I just got skate 2. Should I get this as well?
so happy to see this review!
