    Thank you. Never thought of a pallet. Great idea. Home Depot will be happy to get rid of the pallets they have.

    Nice, inexpensive DIY alternative to a drag harrow. Thanks for sharing it. I added an extra section of chain link fence to mine. Gets the job done and saved me real $.

    Dude!! That is freaking awesome!! We are on an extremely tight budget and can't afford a tractor right now so I think we're gonna do this instead. Thanks brother!

    Excellent video. Going to build one next week. The yard looks amazing for a short amount of time you spent on it.

    Fantastic, I was thinking about this design in my head, good to know it will work. Think I’ll use chain though and build a wood frame for the block(s) vs. shelf brackets.

    We towed 3 truck/tractor tyres in a triangle formation.
    Alternatively, tow around full sheet of construction reinforcing mesh, eg 6mx2.4m. By adding to end, foot diameter steel or concrete pipe to achieve very good soil compaction for a house site or road.

    Wondering how well this would work on an existing lawn? I have an inexpensive dethatcher Iand aerator I purchased on marketplace. My plans are to dethatch, aerate, then fill unlevel areas and dips with a compost top soil mix (I have lots of clay). So once I spread the compost I was thinking of something to drag. I’m wondering if yours would work or if hitting sod would tear it up. What do you think?

    I noticed the rope end at the knot is frayed, suggest using a heat source to melt the nylon rope ends together, then tie that to the main rope with black wire ties. I also suggest some heavy galvanized chain link (10 ga) fencing bolted to the bottom (U bolts) through the 2x4's to preserve the wood and give a better flat pattern overall.
    Also suggest using old motor oil to seal the wood, it will last much longer.

    Weaved a 1” bar in and out of a chain-link fence attached a piece of 8“ x 2“ (somewhere around that) with two fat bolts to hold weights in place, about 1 foot from the end and drugged that fence around with no problem like how the Little Leagues drags around that fence at your local community park … look up a drag screen to get the visual

    For Gravel Roads use two Steel Fence Posts with U Clamps for contact with the road.

      @@hinshawshowto I was actually reviewing others who use their truck and built one like you but 2 times bigger for 2 acres or 10 acres of land. Nevertheless learning about it as a land owner.

    Would 2x3s work well enough for a small lawn??

    • @hinshawshowto
      @hinshawshowto  Рік тому +1

      Yeah 2×3 would work and pulls better behind riding mower but you may find you need to add some weight to it

      Hello Pd, Get or make (by cutting) two white wire shelving racks at Lowes or HD. A 6 foot length piece can be cut to 3 foot lengths for a small lawn. Get a length of board equal to the width of the two racks butted against each other. For example, two 16" racks would make a 32" wide level with a 32" board. Drill two holes in the board and zip tie it to the front of the two racks, that will have the raised sides on the left and right, to stabilize the racks. Zip tie the two racks at the front middle and back. Zip tie two standard bricks through the brick holes to the front board. Zip tie 4 standard bricks to the other end. Tie a tow rope to the left and right raised rack sides. You can easily hand drag this to level a small lawn. I made one and it works great. No need for a $100 leveling rake or towing riding mower. Use these instructions to make any length or width shelving leveler. The shelving grids break up your leveling mix and spreads it evenly as you drag.
