The beluga's problem is that when it was made there simply was no call for it. Even when passenger missions were introduced they ended up being hauling missions with whinier cargo.
Would be nice for a "Open Airlock" option for cargo that complains.
@@evilsnowball yeah 'Jettison Cargo' and next to that 'Jettison Passengers'. That'd make extorting the passengers fun and quite a lucrative career. Followed by jettisoning them after they made the payment to your account. 🤫🤣
No way would I pay before my feet hit the dock!😅
@@TheEedjit I know this was posted a year ago, but I find it funny. It'd be hilarious (and twisted) if they added "Counter Missions" where you were offered by another group a slightly larger sum to jettison passengers in obscure places then come back and not get caught for it.
They need to significantly buff the payouts for luxury cabins. Otherwise, you're better off converting a cargo hauler.
The Yamicks influence is strong in this video. Lots of phallic talk...
I really did try to avoid it. Half of the script just ended up being unintentional innuendo, and I reasoned; At some point, something is so phallic that it's weird not to call it out.
@@talismanstryke6692 It _was_ unintentional in the script - until he realized it, and decided to embrace it.
You know. _It._
The Freud theory of natural desires is strong with this one.

Paint it Midnight Black then REALLY let the innuendo's fly
Love how spoiled Elite's passengers are.... makes you want to park inside a star's exclusion zone and turn on silent running and make some bacon
took a passenger run once and i swear no more than 10 seconds passed before i got the first message to stop and pick something up for them.....now where's that open airlock button gone
@@diceman199 Mine tended to ask for stuff just as the countdown for the hyperspace jump started, and then complain that I did not alter physics to cater to their whims.
I had one client who arked me to buy him consumer electronic goods for a one-jump trip because he was bored, either immediately after taking off or before getting landing permission at the destination (don't remember exactly).
Of course I ignored him. It's not my fault if he forgets his bloody PSP at home.
Was at a tourist beacon with a hold full of criminal masterminds who don't like being scanned. As I charge my hyperdrive, an FDR jumps in, scans me, and opens fire.
Half the passangers cancel, and the others complain. Bitch, we got jumped by one of the toughest ships in this game in an unarmed unshielded flying brick and I got us out of there without taking a scratch.
Ungrateful bastards.
As the TheYamiks said, "unlike cargo you can't jettison them if they get annoying!"
As Shrek once said: "Do you think he's compensating for something? Heh heh..."
Hey now, you're an all-star...
You magnificent man. The beluga was my first large ship and I absolutely adore it. Passenger missions, exploring, even combat I love it. She's gotten me to the edges of space and in style. But my favorite is saving people from damaged orbitals. The thought of a luxury cruiser flying in to evacuation people was funny to me.
I did the exact same thing with it. Plus the extra challenge of flying that massive dildo into a burning station with explosions was kind of fun.
I really think that activity in this ship would have been great. Just a look onto a luxurious dancefloor or bar. And some people on it.
The main highlight of this thing is it's fuel tank
It can explore for a very long time in dark zones without refueling
Aside from that, it's just roomy and a space d***o
I am gonna get the Beluga to save all those stranded in the destroyed stations!
I love my Beluga because I get to role play the Fhloston Paradise from the Fifth Element. Come aboard, the Diva Plava Laguna's concert is after the banquet dinner!
The sad truth about the beluga is it's just really about the bulk cargo and that's it. You're really not gaining anything truly worthwhile going up from the orca.
I find the Dolphin more beautiful than the Orca and Beluga to be honest. Any chance we see a video about the Dolphin soon? Since you already covered 2/3 of Saud Kruger's liners.
Of course! Every ship eventually.
I also find it much more fun to fly. The Dolphin is a mutant on the inside - Class 5 Thrusters at 90t less weight than a Vulture, a Class 4 FSD paired with a Class 5 Fuel Scoop, and more. It's like the designer went on a 3-day bender over his ex and just said "fuck it, cram everything in there!" And this makes it freaking AWESOME! As someone who has taken a Krait (actually, both Kraits) to Colonia and back, twice, I found the trip the most enjoyable in my Dolphin, because all those high-G worlds and worlds with tiny landing areas were finally open to me in my Dolphin, and really, that's what makes exploration fun. A dozen ships can jump 50ly+ over and over again. The Dolphin lets you land on every single thing that catches your eye, though.
That, plus yeah, I think it looks better too. Mainly because I hate offset cockpits with a vengeance.
You should do a federal corvette review
Every ship eventually!
The Pilot I agree. Although really fun combat and PvP is best with the medium ships (FDL, Chieftain, Krait etc.) the Federal Corvette really stands out.
When you do a video on the corvette please don’t forget to mention the really crappy placement of the large hardpoint. Almost makes it useless. And those 2 small hard points should have been mediums. No smalls. IMO.
@Jake Letts Don't have a Vette myself, but I have found that short range frag turrets are outstanding on the size 1 slots on the Conda. Throw on the drag munitions experimental and they're automatic "get the f*ck off my ass" turrets. Short range is all benefits for this because it ensures they only fire when enemies are seriously trying to hug your dead zone.
In any case, I assume the same would work well for the Vett's Class 3 slot too. Lord knows it has enough distributor it wouldn't even feel it when it starts firing anyway.
Austin M that’s a great idea for the anaconda. Never even thought of that. O7
Another masterfully done video, thank you! For a short time, I thought about getting in on the passenger-tour craze and started with an Orca, with the intent of moving up to an Beluga. Fortunately, the desire faded before my wallet took too much of a hit.
I use my Beluga Liner for Station Rescue, tons of passenger capacity, funny to see a Lux Liner do the work (like showing up to a fire in a big red Limo) and everyone says it sucks because it can't handle heat and gets stuck in the mail slot easily... -CMDR K'reig We'Hr
When I took it into the burning stations I had several heat sink utilities installed. Just in case. When it comes to the Beluga there's no such thing as too many heat sinks. heh.
I think if the jump range was comparable to a diamondback, or sub anaconda, this would be a GREAT money maker... ferry a few dozen rich pricks to Orion’s Belt distance would make for some nice aimed and subsidized exploration missions
the end of the intro scares the shit out of me 0:58
I have a Beluga. She's called the Debauchery. "What goes on in the cabins, stays in the cabins."
You're so right, having a proper 'bridge' feel for first person would be perfect for this ship.
Between this and my Orca, I will never use another mining ship again, idk why but I just love these ships
The Freud is strong in this script...
I turned mine into a rescue ship for the Thargoid war.
It looks like a mix between an ocean going Yacht and a double-decker passenger aircraft
I was kinda hoping you could find a bit more nice things to say about it.
I really wish it would have a better FSD Range. Even for Passenger minded CMDRs the orca is just a better deal. I also feel it has the classic issue a lot of Large ships have: "Why use this if you can just use an Anaconda?"
The bridge position is also baffling because when you land and go down in the hangar, it feels like your nose is getting pressed against the wall. Having the bridge on top of it in a slight center forward position would've been cool (where a whale would have the blowhole).
I wish I could have too. I tried.
Truthfully, the most fun I had with it was meeting up with 20 other people and ramming into each other.
@@ThePilot_ Ofc it CAN work as an explorer if you don't want to minmax it. The big tank means you don't even have to top up all the time so you can go for really long stretches without worrying about going bingo.
@@ChakiOida That's true...but I can do exactly the same thing in the Orca. With the same modules. And have a better range.
Also the G-forces from the landing pad turning around would require scraping you off the windshield with a spatula.
I’m looking for a credit sink and I wanna rescue people in bulk to grind rank, so the beluga is perfect.
"I just can't get my hands around it." Yeah, it's a big ship :D
Beluga and Robigo, this is the way :)
$ years later, the beluga fount its place. As a mass extraction ship from burning stations
Beluga Liner is bigger Orca
The Pilot: "Well *yes* , but actually *no* "
I guess they chose the name as calling it a "Humpback" would have proved a bad marketing ploy and naming it "The Sperm" would have had those with a more fertile imagination giggling too much.
Oh you best believe violently ramming my massive, hardened pleasure ship into others appeals to me! 🤣
Imagine getting ambushed by a cruise ship.
I mean, probably everyone here who plays the game with at least a little combat experience has. But I just don't frickin fight, especially considering how broke I am.
Any time I've done passenger runs I just ignored the passenger requests. Of course, I dont know if this has any affect on the payout. I was doing Robigo runs and those people are criminals so I guess I didn't have to listen to them.
Excellent as ever, but I already have one. So when are we getting the Clipper and FDL?
The good news is; I tentatively have both those ships scheduled relatively close to each other. The bad news is; neither is for a while.
@@ThePilot_ Damn you! I'll now have to wait and watch all of your excellent videos!
I love this ship. its looks are to die for and it handles really well for a large ship. It's also gets out of interdictions easily.
The one thing that gets me
The one thing that grinds my gears
WARNING HEAT CRITICAL
WARNING TAKING HEAT DAMAGE
I heard rumors of a Big Blue Beluga, going around, killing anything it crosses path with.
Any info?
1:32 thats what she said
heat is easy to manage with some engineering manage to get it pretty cool
Me hunting thargoids with the beluga liner
this ship is a very good laser miner
2:46 wtf is the problem with that cobra going out the mailslot
He used his waching machine while undocking
The Pilot in there probably listened to Skrillex while docking out.
interesting, the first video you have made that does not make me like the ship at the end, not counting the vulture I hate those things
What? The Vulture is fantastic wdym?
Help me Mr The Pilot. I'm in love with the Saud Kruger ships. I'm determined to own them all and fully kit them out to do passenger missions (don't ask me why 😅). I have a Dolphin and im making pretty decent money - around 10 million per day if I grind all day. I'm currently at 20 million credits. I prefer the look and size of the Beluga Liner over the Orca. I don't care about slower speed or manoeuvrability or combat or anything like that. I just want a massive space cruise ship. I want to get the Beluga Liner as quick as possible but I dont know whether it'd be quicker to grind past the Orca and get the Beluga Liner first or to buy the Orca first and use that to save up. What do you think i should do?
And the idea of violently ramming a massive harden pleasure ship into others...."
Did Yamiks write this script?
The Beluga makea an amazing missile/torpedo magnet, shame its not legal to shoot them.
I know someone who can throw a anaconda around like a medium ship that has one of these named "The Belly-flop Beluga"
And remember, we're in the top 1% of all liners out there.
so many innuendos
Hey maybe do the fer de lance
Am I mistaken, or this is the first ship you say something definitely negative about?
No, the asp scout got a negative review too, and the Fed trio collectively got shat on with the caviat that the gunships bristling weaponry felt cool, even if you rarely got a target in your crosshairs cos of it flying like the brick that it is
😂 That ending lol
that isn't a 2nd bridge, its' just a window

You had the perfect setup for a beluga in mailslot joke and you just didnt take it... Shame. ;)

You're gonna need a bigger bank.

I really want to be able to walk around ships in this game. Especially the Beluga Liner.
Also I wish passenger missions in Elite worked the way that cruises do in real life. You have a set destination(s) and people pay a fuckton of money to go there. Right now it just feels like luxury space Uber.
If I could legitimately walk around Saud Kruger ships and interact with Passengers, it would be a game changer. Change my mind about this ship in a heartbeat.
I just want the bar and restaurant... I also want my damned crew guy to go get me my coffee from the lounge as we get to the edge of the galaxy. I'll just settle for parking on the edge of the corona and making my own while it slowly scoops up the fuel. I'll probably be sick of that luxurious cockpit after circumnavigating the galaxy in it. I was after doing DW2 in a beluga. Barely touched a Saud Kruger ship at all after that. But all things considered, the fact it's so much nicer to fly in supercruise in an exploration fit compared to a Conda, means it's my choice for this trip too.
It's what's kept me from buying the game... That not walking thing. I want to be able to explore the ship inside and out!
When they fuck you up to much just park at the end of the universe turn on silent running and make some passenger bacon.
Hopefully odyssey has that feature.
“Who uploads an Elite Dangerous video at 5 am?”
The Pilot: “Oh boy, 5 am!”
7 am
It's around 11 am for me
0100 for me. But totally worth it.
1 pm at me
11pm
my beluga is a rescue ship, i can clear the entire mission board in 2 trips.
also, fun fact: the beluga in this video has no shields
Yeah but you have to maneuver that behemoth into and through a very hot, burning, refuse packed station with no docking computer. I use a python as a rescue vessel and it's bad enough.
@@therealstubot I never said it was easy, its just what I do
@@DblDg1252 You are hardcore.
Is there still burning station that you can save people ?
@@voidwielder3514 not so much anymore
I love my Beluga exploration ship. It's like I'm at the helm of the Orville. VR is a key component to this feeling though. It's also as big as Dav's Hope, which is comical.
Funny you mentioned this. My first trip to Dav's Hope was in my Beluga. And it was entertainingly comical being able to see her towering over the whole base at every turn.
For someone who owns 2 Anacondas, I do all my long haul exploring in a Beluga myself. First trip to Sag A*? Beluga. First trip to Beagle and Salome's Reach? Beluga. My chosen ship for the Pegasus round the Galaxy tour? Beluga. Has slots for all I need to entertain myself, SRVs, repair limpets, dual AFMU. Sure I could pack all that on a Conda and get 15LY more per jump with a better scoop, but the Conda doesn't fly as well in supercruise, and a 64t fuel tank limits the ability to go off the well trodden KGB FOAM path. And taking longer to get where I'm going means I get to scan a lot more systems on the way.
So many innuendos lol
inYOURendo
Not enough innuendos.
The things that annoy me about the Beluga:
1) That the Beluga is the larger ship, when, in real life, Orcas are large than Beluga whales.
2) The number of times I've had to watch two NPC Belugas try to mate in the mail slot, blocking it for everyone else for the duration of a docking request without getting blown up, is too damn high.
1. I'm just now realizing that.
2. Even with the Advanced Auto Dock, the number of times it put me into the side of the station was ridiculous.
@@ThePilot_ FDev sometimes fudges the names on these ships. To wit: The Cutter. Cutters are actually small high speed ships. And the Clipper? That's a high speed mercantile ship.
WendigoRunner it kind of is a small high speed ship though, when you compare it too the larger ships in a navy like the imperial interdictors anyway
@@t2force212 ... well yes, but that's kind of like saying that the Burj Khalifa in Dubai is small compared to planet Earth.
More likely the reference is to beluga caviar in terms of beluga caviar being considered the most luxurious food
One justification for the often seemingly ridiculous fins on some of these ships: thruster leverage. I have heard NO ONE mention this, ever. Placed farther away from the ship's center of gravity, thrusters can move the mass they are attached to more efficiently. Notice here how they are mounted near the edge of the wings. DING! ;-)
Explains a lot about the Christian.
@@Pyrochazm Riiiiiight. I can't help but wonder if we are talking about the same video...
@@cmdrdr.digital865 lol I meant Chieftan.
I own one. I agree 100% with everything you say. I haven't done a single passenger mission with it. But... I can't explain why I don't regret it one bit. I call mine the battle-uga
I love my beluga, I use it for exploring, I've engineered and guardian tiered everything i possibly can, and it holds everything I want while doing everything I want... its replaced my anaconda as my go to ship, and there's only 4ly difference in jump range, when they're both fully kitted out :)
I have so much fun flying my tour boat. Pick up four sightseeing contracts in the bubble and start picking off tourist beacons. Along the way you're dodging scans, dodging bounty hunters, landing for fruit with wanted passengers... pretty challenging PvE career.
When I first started playing this game, one of these things showed up at a NAV beacon. It was Piloted by an NPC and was marked as Wanted. That was a very satisfying kill when I was still in my Viper.....
I don't see how the ship looks like a peanut?
(Also great video as always)
The frontal part with giant canopy, take a close look.
You'll never be able to look at Beluga like you used to.
Just got mine a few days ago, it actually makes a pretty decent search
and rescue ship... I'll be using this to load up on passengers to take out of
damaged stations after a Thargoid attack, and to give fuel and repairs
to stranded ships... If I join the Fuel Rats, this will be my purpose ship for it, just for the fun of the reaction of people being saved by a large passenger ship.. Because, why not?
Dont sweat on my beluga explorer. It's got space for literally everything I could need and more, stupidly large fuel reserve, enough weapons and utilities to defend myself with a wide range of freedom, with an fsd booster it has a very respectable jump range(~42), and most importantly class.
Can a DBX or Anaconda almost double it's range? Perhaps, but I'd like to enjoy my hyperspace jumps on a space yacht and not a fsd in a tinfoil bubble.
It makes for a good hauler if you dont have the standing for the Cutter. Doesnt carry quite as much as a type 9 but its close. Unlike the type 9 though, the beluga is maneuverable enough to escape any NPC interdiction. This makes it a great bulk hauler.
I basically just use mine for bulk passenger runs though and thats it. Load her up with as much meat as possible and make decebt money. The more uppity passengers and the sight seers I use my Orca.
Finally named mine.
I called it "The Other 99%".
It's built for ramming other ships, and firing Torpedoes and Pack-hounds.
You know rewatching this I just realized if we are ever able to walker in ships one day this thing will probably take 4 whole real life days to explore XD
bwhahaha that ending.. reminds me of the austin powers movie.. lol "Lookie there, it looks like a giant.... WANG.. Pay attention"
Aye, a large luxurious exploration ship that must have a fighter bay. Guess thats why I use my Beluga for exploration. Not to mention, that cockpit is to die for during exploration!!!
What range, out of curiosity? :D
@@mikiroony mine has around 50ly fully fueled, typical exploration-optimized build can yield 55ly fully fueled.
@@RandomPerson-fh1sl Meanwhile, my 'Conda is hopping 60-62 LY out on the far edge of the galaxy.
I used the beluga once, and almost got killed by a station by getting stuck in the mailslot. Meanwhile, I love the orca with its 50ly jump range, decent passenger capacity and 642m/s boost speed
Know what really grinds my gears? I refuse to buy the Beluga (209.1m x 131.6m x 38.6m) purely on principle. The ships is not really much larger than the Orca (130.4m x 50.8m x 22.7m) but they added those wings purely to add a docking challenge. If I have the ability to alter most modules on my ship and changing the body armor types why can't I have Selene Jean cut those wings off my ship? She's the armor (body and structural) specialist! Almost triple the width and no usable space to go with it... It should be a decent combat ship because putting the thrusters at the end of those extented wings would give more leverage (or torque? the term doesn't matter, you get my point) so you can always keep the ventral guns trained on an enemy just by rolling to show your underside to them but... No. The wings add hitbox and weight while providing nothing. Ugh.
ua-cam.com/video/hkjWl4nkzCE/v-deo.html At the end there's a side-by-side of every ship. Do the internals make any sense on a ship that big?
@MyName Here 2050 huh? Well I want my wingless Beluga now and then I'll have Selene reinstall them when they're useful. 😭
I think you managed to average a phallic joke every third sentence. Nice.
I bought a Beluga and kept it JUST long enough to figure out there was no amount of money capable of making me willing to deal with that incessant engine noise long enough to go collect the pay. Not to mention the penchant for overheating at the drop of a hat. And it would happily drop the hat itself given the opportunity.
And don’t forget, this Liner is in the top 1% of all Liners out there
I havent run into an ad in the middle of your videos, idk if I'm lucky or your decision. If it's your decision, I want to say Thank you. Your videos have such good flow, especially with the music choices. Idk what you do for a living, but these are great. If theres double ads up front or at the end, I watch them.
I think The Courier is my favorite video. Favorite ship is mk2 , and I hope you do The Cutter soon, unless I've missed it somehow.
Keep up the good work. Cant wait for next video

@@inspirice9844 huh well good to know :) ty
The Beluga is fantastic if you have niche needs like mine:
If you want a ship that has the sleek coloring and aesthetic of a Starfleet ship, has a spacious bridge like a Starfleet ship, can launch "shuttles" like a Starfleet ship, and is almost as large as the USS Voyager, get the Beluga.
Post engineering and guardian jump booster, I have the long range science and research vessel of my dreams.
I bought a beluga entirely to make it do things it shouldn't. Mining? Sure. Missile only combat rammer? You got it. Saving people from a burning station in a literal yacht? Why not? Thargoid combat? Of corse!
This this is my ultimate "because I can do this with better ships, doesn't mean I will" ship. Nothings better than rolling up to the xenos and ramming a cyclops with my girth and guardian inseminators in front of a group of actually kitted anti xeno ships.
The Beluga Liner is outstanding for mining. The view from the cockpit is the best in the game for mining. Its size was never a problem. The beluga is a lot more fun than this video would suggest.
For mining huh. Its size and maneuverability aren't a problem?
It's what I used it for, though to be honest, that was before core mining was a thing. Though that, I've done in a T10.
Core mining needs agility and a good view - Krait is fun. Surface mining could be done in the Death Star, I use a Cutter for Painite.
For double Painite hotspots? I could consider swapping out my Type 9 for a Beluga.
@@DanTKD87 I mine in an anaconda, I used to mine in a cutter. I switched not because the cutter is not an excellent mining ship, but because I got jumped by 3 vipers and very nearly had a rebuy. The beluga is probably a great miner, but it has to be good at evading interdiction and being able to stand and fight, or run to be viable in that role. The anaconda can fight even with 256t of painite in the hold. The cutters roll/pitch/yaw rates are terrible, but it is ridiculously fast for its size. I ended up making the cutter a dedicated cargo ship and it works well in that role. It sounds like the beluga is neither nimble or fast, making it a target.
Flew one of these for a week or so and couldn't put up with crashing the wings off station slots.
Went back to my smaller space shlong, the orca.
There was a young Cmdr, called Dave
Who for a Beluga Liner, he had a crave
He saved up for a year,
And then, with a cheer
Got it stuck in a mail-slot and went to his grave.
It’s obscene fuel tank makes it a great long-range fuel rat, a great exploration ship for the neutron star highway (you rarely need to refuel), and a comical explorer for Thargoid and Guardian sites: 😂
“Honey? Did we land at the resort yet?...Oh, no...”
So I love it. 😃
Oh admit it, we all wish the top viewport thing was the actual bridge.
The Beluga really only excels in the same way that the Type-9 does: Mass transit of the Masses. If you want to know where all that biowaste the type-9 hauls comes from, look no further than the nearest Beluga. The Dolphin excels far more for catering to the sightseeing elite who often want to take up an entire cabin to themselves, the Orca lovingly getting to pick its passengers, while the Beluga ferries hordes of the unwashed masses from point A to anywhere else, for the love of god, anywhere but here at Point A.
Would love to see a gig on the Adder.
The Adder was my first ship after Sidewinder, loved it. Named it Planet Express (from Futurama). Great starter ship that did everything
Every ship eventually.
@@ThePilot_ Ill drink to that.
me watching this after spending 70+Mil CR on this ship thinking it’s good
My jump range is up to 35Ly and have made it out to the heart nebula with this. I disagree when you say it only works for luxury passenger missions
The secondary bridge should have been the main bridge, so you get the ability to really admire the glans
i really wanna use this ship ive bought it kitted it out with all classes A rated it cant find a decent job to do with it i could go to robigo but most of the passengers are wanted so i dont want fines
I can tell you had FAR too much fun writing the script for this one...
Great video as always, though for once you haven't made me want to go out and buy the ship you're talking about!
Thanks for making me regret buying the ship pal, I'm a multipurpose player but, I'll go back to my python, and from there to the anaconda, might the universe help me get the 150 million as fast as I lost the almost 90 for the beluga
I use this for exploration. Bought this ship after I went Elite in exploration. Currently docked in Colonia. Headed to the center of Sagittarius A
