India needs to do following things to gain market share.
Disadvantages:
1. Labor cost in India higher than Bangladeshi. We can't compete and we should not compete also. We need to raise our earnings and salary.
Advantages:
1. We export Cotton and Fabrics to Bangladesh. Stop this and make it costlier for them.
2. Stop power export to Bangladesh. Don't destroy our environment to supply power to others . No power, no factory.
3. Stop export of refined crude to BD. Don't destroy our environment for others . No Oil, No power.
4. Bring more automation to offset that labor cost. Humans can't compete with machine.
5. Gov should reduce tax on this industry particularly for at least 10 years.
6. BD exports its cloths through Indian airports. Charge hefty cost for this.
If we produce more cotton and electricity.make them cheaper.then labour cost can be managed.

This is mainly because of relatively cheap manpower .India can anytime grab No1 position but majority of apparel production are consumed within country whereas majority of Bangladesh's production are meant for export.If India purposefully stops providing raw material to Bangladesh, they will suffer

How can India take over the world in garment industry even if all the factories shift from Bangladesh to India. India’s share of world garment export is 4%, Bangladesh share is 7.8% (India plus Bangladesh is 14%). China’s share is 31%. Over 80% of garment industry in Bangladesh and Vietnam are Chinese factories which manufacture for the western world. India has put a restriction on the Chinese FDI, so how can these factories move to India? They will move to veitnam or Indonesia. India is also a small consumer market despite having the largest population as most of the people have lower purchasing power even compared to the sub Saharan countries. USA, Canada, australia, NZ and Europe are still the higher consumer market.
You are wrong in a case that RMG labours are earning 5-6000. No actually they are earning 20-30 thousand per month. Officers are highly paid.
