I said that you did what none of us did and I thanked you for that. I took a lot of heat from mostly one person who is like the town historian. One thing is for sure we Leonians carry this town in our hearts. I haven't been there for about 50 years but it is still a huge part of me. Thank you so much for the tour. I've sent it to my friends and family. I truly love my home town of Leonia. 💕
I grew up in Leonia and my parents had a house there. It was a nice place.. Unfortunately my father Professor Moishezon passed away young after a jog in Overpeck Park. He was only 55
The best part about Leonia is their diverse/LGBTQ police department that engages with the community during town events. You'd think pride month would be low key in a place like this but its AWESOME! They go all out to make it feel super welcoming, same vibe I got when I attended the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco. They have an amazing Korean community that has added so much to the culture. Leonia is the melting pot America everyone wants but few of us get to experience!
I must say that if you are a real estate agent who is serious about selling Leonia, you missed the boat on showing some of its best parts and spent too much time on the most unattractive, nondescript streets. You missed the lovely homes up the hill, the high school, charming little Wood Park right in town, Park Avenue, the town pool, a number of nursery schools, etc. ....all much more enticing to would-be buyers than your sandwich.
Fair enough... but it _was_ a good sandwich. I didn’t hit every highlight, sure-but it’s always good to hear a local’s perspective on what’s good in the hood. Appreciate you chiming in!
Pine Hill Road is pretty cookie cutter of an area. If you want more historical homes, I'd recommend south-west Leonia. North-west is closest to the middle school and high school. Alan Alda and the late Anthony Bourdain were residents of Leonia.

The houses built on the old golf course in Leonia started being built in the late 80's early 90's. It was still a working golf course in the 50's.
