This is one of the best features that I never understood before watching one of your videos. Having never had a radio with notch filters, it was a total mystery to me. Now I use it all the time! Thank you again.
I always was just klicking the notch filters and was wondering why nothing happens :) Thank you very much for explanation! The filters are so heplfully.
That was GR8 Mike! That is a feature I haven't used yet because I didn't understand it. Now I can't wait to try the Notch Filters out. Also, I have now subscribed to your Channel. Thank you!
My pleasure, I'm really pleased to know that this new series of SDRuno videos is helping you and other viewers. We have a lot of ground to cover with SDRuno :)
I love the manual notch, but it would also be nice to have a fast acting auto notch to tackle transient tuner carriers often encountered on HF bands. Thanks for the great explanation of how to use the notch.
Great info Mike. Will definitely be trying it. Also I have found that when I listen to a USB transmission, if I select 6000 filter and select Digital I get a much clearer sound. Why is this ?
A wider filter will allow higher audio frequency to pass through. I usually just match the width of the filter to the width of the transmission in the AUX SP.,
Is there a way to control depth of notch, also a little of subject but I would like the "Main SP" window to auto center on my carriers but so far haven't figured that out, any help?
@@SDRplayHamGuides Thanks, I see now the depth of notch filter is not really needed while the BW is and easily changed. I also found by hitting the "clear" button in "RX Control" window that it frees up the bandspread (ruler looking portion of "Main SP" lock. This seems to be because when you select a band in "Main SP" it locks the bandspread to that band and the clear button unlocks it. BTW, thanks for helping us out!
@@SDRplayRSP Ah! Huge help! Thank you! Warning though; I may not be finished asking questions about certain SDR functions. There's a lot going on there and I want to understand the radio as fully as I can.

I agree, noise reduction and notches work so well at shaping/customizing audio
@@SDRplayHamGuides Great example!! starting at 8:20 , thanks for explaining.
I'd love to echo this sentiment. You've single-handedly made my listening experience so much nicer!

Glad you found this video helpful.
Just discovered this channel, it's great. Doing some research while waiting for my first SDR dongle, rabbit hole ...
Thank you :) and welcome
I am so insanely envious of your HF signal reception! Thanks for the explanation of the notch filters.
What type of antenna are you using?
Mike, Watching this vid I can understand how notch's work. Have about 4 hrs on uno. Got my RSPdx today. I'm a converted console user now.
That is great news. I am not trying to pull anyone away from other sofrware but I am happy to read that my videos are helpful... Keep going :)

Thank you very much for demystifying this feature for me. I simply could not figure out how to properly use these filters.

Notch is a great feature to have when listening to ssb and one or more cw signals are within the ssb signal bandwidth.
I agree, Notch filtering and Noise blanking can be very powerful

Also, can I manually set the frequency spread of Main SP?
The width of the notch can be adjusted via the BW (Bandwidth) in the AIX SP. The VFO will auto center by zooming in.
