Update: live service game did the live service thing. Was fun while it lasted.
came back to this video to say that it rang true lol
It was a good...what, three months? Jesus.
Yup, sure was fun while it lasted.
they played them selves
I feel so bad for the devs. Their game they worked passionately on is getting ruined by fucking Sony
Correction - losing campaigns does not actively reduce Liberation % on a planet. They clarified that it is purely a time based system that players can push back against, so losing a campaign means you're only not helping, not actively hindering.
Take that dad, I’m not a hinderance in this situation!
Theres a community website that monitors the galactic war, theyve written down the actual math.
"Each planet has an internal max HP. When attacking, the planet has 1000000. When defending, this varies from 600k-~2mil.
Each planet regens HP per second, ranging from 2.8 hp/s (bot planets) to 20 hp/s (bug planets). The game master can change these values at any time. NOTE - defense campaign doesn't regen hp, it is purely timer based
Each Operation a Helldiver completes deals damage to the planet.
The automatons can also drop a giant nuke on planets to deplete some liberation. This can be seen on planets such as Tien Kwan. These drastic dips in liberation have been 1-2%, occuring as much as 5-10 times to keep Super Earth at bay. "
Which website is this? I'm curious@@ButtlordExtraman
Thats a shame. The only way I would play this game is if I could fight against the Helldivers and super earth.
@@terraopg8259Such treasonous propaganda warrants a visit to the reeducation facility.

There's no content in this game though.
I feel you’re making a point that gets glossed over in many reviewers minds, live service games can get bad pretty much in a single patch, sometimes it’s not devs fault but their bosses, and sometimes it just happens.
I kinda see a distillation of your thoughts on destiny ftp segments weighting your enthusiasm for helldivers as a product first.
saw many great games turn mediocre in a single patch
I'm expecting it to happen soon, but it's a great game until then
19:10 There was another helmet that also had hidden stats, it did the opposite, increased armor slightly and reduced running speed and stamina regen.
Both have had their hidden stats removed in a recent patch.
From what I understand they were left-over from a time they were considering the idea of helmets also having separate stats, but when they scrapped the idea they forgot to change those two back.
Also what I find funy about the Meta was the tiny itsy bitsy nerf that happened, and everyone who had become reliant on it had a giant meltdown over it, even tough in practice the Breaker, Railgun, and shield backpack were still easily A tier after the nerf.
But, the subsuquent changes to Heavy Armour enemies and Swarm enemies spawn ratio's in High difficulties, combined with the buff to EAT and Recoilles for taking out chargers has also really helped make other support weapons and backpacks more usefull, promoting more varied loadouts than just Shotgun/Bubbleshield/Railgun.
I think the issue is that people had gotten used to high difficulties being like, 3 chargers and 3 bile titans at once, so the insane power of the railgun was the one support weapon that could keep up. Now that they've nerfed chargers by making rockets oneshot them, and nerfed the spawns a good deal while increasing chaff spawns, you can use a wider variety of loadouts now, which all have reasonable tradeoffs.
Your prediction was very accurate. After the Helldivers PSN debacle I’ve lost hope in ever getting a good multi player game out of a AAA publisher or studio that won’t be ruined by corporate greed shortly after
Corporate greed didn't ruin Helldivers lmao.
"I'm doing my part!".
Have you noticed what Ross Scott is doing over at Accursed Farms to try saving the killing of games?
I really wish him good luck as he is too good for this world, but we all know it ain't gonna stop Corporations from doing it. Best you can do is crash the gaming market so we get a fresh start.

The best way to describe helldivers is like a 3rd person version of those sc2 survival arcade maps.

Starfield was AAAA (see that? 4 As). Also, you should apologize to Emil
If you miss an armor set in the superstore just wait a few days and it'll be back on it
The one thing i'd like to see most for individual operations is that the missions you do, and in which order, affect the others within that operation zone. Example:
You're doing a 3-mission operation consisting of:
- An Automaton Command Bunker
- An Automaton Airbase
- An Automaton Extermination mission
You start off with the extermination - killing a great number of bots in the process. Then, as you move on to the airbase you'll get a passive buff of "reduced enemy presence" because you annihilated most of their forces one mission prior. And then when you take on the command bunker, you now have the passives of "Reduced enemy presence" and "Delayed Reinforcements" from both erradicating the main force, AND blowing up the nearby dropship refuelling station/control tower. Which then makes taking the command bunker a lot easier.
Or if you run the command bunker first you instead get "Disrupted Command", reducing the overall effectiveness of patrols and causing more incidents of bots firing on each other.
The same could be done with the bugs. Destroying eggs could reduce the presence of bugs in an area, making the swarms appear less often and be smaller in size
I just wish more people had played the original
i do hope the game still exists in 20 years in some form. i think if its up to the devs, they would probably add an offline mode before the servers shut down.
but i kinda dig the live service in this game, the battle pass is super fair, everyone i know had the premium one unlocked before they even hit level 20 and i think the way events and orders work is genuinely fun and creates a bond between all players that you otherwise would never get.
if the game does get shut down and not get an offline mode, i think we will still be able to say 'remember malevalon creek' for years to come, this is literally the first time where it feels like live service actually added something to the experience.
Im glad you mentioned Enshrouded because I was torn between Helldivers and that and now that I have played Helldivers a bunch and I like it I wanna go back and try Enshrouded
I did love it when the Railgun was nerfed to make it a requirement to use unsafe mode to kill Chargers and other big targets, followed by the more recent (albeit indirect) buff to EATs and Recoilless Rifle in that they can one-shot Chargers with headshots. Not only did the devs promote the usage of other support weapons, they also showed everyone how whiney the metababies are.

5:27 Yes, I agree, Democracy is a mistake and we live in a dystopia.
Hey, im really excited for the last 3 harry potter games video, is that next?
The armor in the superstore. “You have worse armor than me” it will go through a rotation. Use the super credits that you found for free while playing the game and get it when it comes back. Your light weight throwing bonus armor isn’t the top of the armor. At least it’s not like other games where it does actually disappear for months or nearly an entire year (destiny 2).
23:20 Aaah Generation Kill reference. Everyone will get it I am assured of this
All the warbonds are permanent thankfully
Anyone who takes a meta seriously in this game needs to get checked you can clear max difficulty with almost any build at all I've done it seen it done with many many builds solo. If somone wants to be toxic because you aren't running a certain item can gent bent
Also, when the armor was busted, it wasn't "doing nothing". It was actually that all armor was treated as being 100, so heavy armor gave no bonus defense and light armor was objectively better than it should have been
dusted off my degree in media literacy for this one
I feel like people are massively overestimating their credit gains through normal gameplay because the free warbond inflates how many credits you have by 750. I get about 10 credits per hour of gameplay. As more warbonds start to get added, the grind required to get all of the new weapons and armor will increase and increase and increase. It would require me to play 70 hours to get the necessary credits to get a warbond, and I just don't see myself putting in 70 hours a month into this game because I don't do that with ANY other game.
For what it’s worth to my
Knowledge there’s nothing in the super store armor effects that isn’t already on a battle pass armor.
So really they’re just skins for armors with no unique effects, SOME unique combos tho from what I’ve seen but maybe I missed some.
Hey patrician, I just wanted to know if we could get the reasoning behind censoring your team's locations on the map? Is there something obvious and identifiable there that I'm missing? Great video btw

I played Battlefield Play4Free (BFP4F) from its beta and more or less up until BF3 released. BFP4F was actually a rather fair-and not really pay to win-game in the beginning, with the real-money-only "boosters" for XP and in-game cash, plus "pay to skip" better weapon variants being the worst offenders. With each major update, they ruined it more and more, until one day I logged in and there was a way to buy skill points (significant unlocks previously available only through character levelling) with real money, and new boosters for stuff like vehicle damage and grenade explosion radius. I jumped into a match, threw a grenade and realised that my grenade's explosion radius had been halved. Nerf the free players, add real-money perks to restore things to how they were before. Disgusting. I dropped it and never came back. (They later added real-money-only weapon attachments by nerfing the weapons available to free players.)
It's sad that we're at a point where a £35 pay-to-play game has minor pay to win elements and we're not even offended about it any more. At least it ain't competitive, I guess. Hearing so much praise about Helldivers 2, I'd love it to be great and to remain great, but I can't help but remember BFP4F and how I effectively got to watch it die in front of me, bit by bit. Beware before investing your time in a live service game.

Good video, with some rightful skepticism about the possible future of the game due to the live service model. I do disagree with this, however: 20:20 . The supply backpack is a better option than you give it credit for. The resupply allows you to restore ammunition, stims, and grenades. You can also use it on yourself and not just teammates, so rather than 4 stims you have 12 potentially available at any time, and if you have a grenade launcher, you can spray it into enemy patrols with a lot less concern for ammo constraints.
The shield backpack is more "meta", given that it protects from slows, stuns, and instant deaths from friendly fire, but the supply backpack is still very useful.

"The game is fun. The game is a battle. If it's not fun, why bother?"
Reggie really spoke the truth. This game is simply fun- and if it will keep staying fun, I will keep playing it. Simple and fun is good! I got the impression you like the game but it seems like you lingered over the negatives and breezed past the positives to the extent that it's hard for me to pin down why you liked it. You spent so much time on disclaimers that This Is A Live Service And Everything Could Change And The Game Might Not Be Here In Twenty Years And That Sucks, and then also spent a lot of time picking apart a meta that had already been addressed in a balance patch well before this video went live. Maybe the broader issue of live service games should be its own video because this video just feels like you've been itching to talk about it and needed an excuse.
Okay. It's just a guy discussing a game. You're acting like a political commentator or something to be taken seriously. It's video games. It's a radom guy taking about something that's designed to waste time. That's it
Yet another win for Linux users: if you play Helldivers 2 through wine, the kernel-level anticheat is actually emulated in userspace. They don't actually have ring 0 access to your machine.

This is a great thing to rotate with alongside deep rock.
I hate that everyone was so cool with nprotect. Downloading malware with your games to protect their microtransation stores. Mindless consoomerism.
Good game worth it
They have brought back the same items in the limited menu store. Seems like they will be cycling through them.
It's worth mentioning that the armor on the Super Store is on daily rotation. I have seen the armor you talked about in the video (17:33) several times already. I am not sure, but I believe it's currently about a week-length rotation. While true that it can change in the future and armor COULD disappear from that rotation, I think it's more realistic for new armor to just be added to the rotation, and thus the rotation gets longer overall. This is all speculation, of course.
Bit of perspective on the premium pass, the one booster it gives you is the worst in the game and the weapons are all situational sidegrades at best.
Also the new anti-armor meta is "all options are good with different option shining depending on the faction." Main issue with balance on them was the chargers, AT launcher headshots now kill them in 1 hit so it's a lot more managable.
There are two premium passes now and the new one has probably the best primary weapon in the game for medium range engagements (the new laser pulse rifle) as well as a booster that sounds excellent (decreases enemy spawn rate) but that's obviously hard to quantify. I never got the first one because everything looked so bad though so I got all of the new stuff without paying anything (extra, obviously I bought the game) without issue. It is odd how bad the first one was, though.
