I lived 22 years in Spain and then last year decided to move to Greece. I lived in Greece 1999 and 2000 and then been travelling here every now and then. I love this country! Being aware of the pros and cons, it´s not so different from Spain, except food is better and people are friendlier. I am from Finland but I have lived over half of my life abroad around the Mediterranean. Moving to Greece was an easy decision! It´s just so beautiful here.
Damn how old are u now?

People are dying while visiting Greece because people are lacking common sense about hot summer and hydration. If you want to go hiking in Greece then visit Greece in the Fall and Winter. Also living here in the USA as a Greek American for my whole life but visiting Greece every year for long periods of time; I can tell you that if it wasn’t for my pension I would have already moved to Greece. I cannot wait to live my life in retirement in Greece! 😊. I am grateful that I can retire at 52!
@@nikokatos precisely! Tourists think the Greek sun is somehow different than their own. They do not take into account that Greece is closer to the equator and without plentiful green canopies, therefore hotter and humid.

I wish u good luck into moving back to ur homeland at the right time. Ur country is lucky there is no war to make u not go back. As a Greek American born and raised in Greece until 18 years old I can relate 100% with this video. I love America but Greece is a different world. The good part is that I am able to retire in 2 years and I will be able to enjoy the best of both worlds staying 5-6 months in Greece and the other half in America. I do have kids here so moving 100% in Greece is out of consideration.
There was a year where lots of people died in Germany in extreme heat....because they don't THINK....where has common sense gone?

Love Daniels page here...because he explains how I felt when I came from Canada.
Born in Greece but left at the age of 4 I NEVER knew Greece. I was raised in Canada and only heard the hardship stories. (tip: Never believe all the negative stuff they say, people that have negative things to say...reflect themselves). Moved to Greece at 24, had a culture shock, because I knew nothing about Greece. But as soon as the plane landed, I felt a type of magnetism, ran in my blood ..the sun...the energy was SOMETHING ELSE! ....After living 25 years in Greece, I realized how programmed I was about how Canada was the 'best' country (far from it now on every level!). I was forced to return to Canada at 50, for a job. What did I discover? That life was as boring as heck, in every city/province I went, that the highlight of a week was going to a bar again!!...and getting drunk!!! Try, as I might to enjoy myself, it was very difficult...even though this is where I was raised till 24! I have travelled to many countries in Europe, many countries in the States etc. I have NOT felt that feeling of content anywhere but in Greece.
If you need to go shopping and spend 2k each month for shopping therapy > >> Greece is NOT for you!. Greece is NOT for everyone.
No one can tell you to move to Greece or not, but if your heart doesn't speak to you... change when you come to Greece, ...then Greece is not for you.
Only after being a real immigrant 25 years average in 2 countries, (and NOT BEING RAISED IN MY BIRTHPLACE) ...did I realize my soul needs Greece, no matter what. When you stop comparing Greece to another country, that is when you will know where you want to live.
Everyone's health improves with the sea, sun and good food, found in Greece. Like Danial says....reinvent yourself...what are you afraid of?...(finding out that you might actually love it here?)🤣
BTW I lived in a small town across from Nafplion for 11 years..at the beginning...now in Athens but maneuvering myself back to the little town for good! Was in Nafplion on the weekend. Best winter town to live permanently. Great weather all year around, and always something happening to spark your interest. And of course that 50 shades of blue in the sky/sea...
What is there NOT to love in Nafplion?!!!
“Greece is not just the sun and sea” … YES IT IS!!! Best line ever!
I’m putting that on my t-shirt! 💖🇬🇷. Love from Montreal!
Im dying to visit crete because of the palace of knossos, the cretan clothes, dance, music. I wanna hear it in person and talk to them in greek 😊❤
Surrounded by water with over 2000 islands....there's def a lot of sea and sun, 😆😆😆

Greek living in the US here. Thank you very much Daniel for sharing your morning walks with us as well as your thoughts and experiences. One thing that most Greeks living in Greece don’t realize is that “the neighbor’s lawn is not always greener than theirs” as we say here in the US.
I find that a lot of folks don’t understand fully what it means to live abroad. They only hear about the high salaries people make in some countries and they get mad at their own country for not providing the same. When I tell my friends and family, what the living expenses are here in the US they get shocked. For example the average Greek is livid for having to pay annual tax for their home (ENFIA) which is something that was started about 15 years ago. When I tell them what I pay here in the US for real estate tax, county tax, local school tax annually they realize it is more than an average greek salary. And that is in addition to income taxes to state and federal government. That’s where the extra money you earn is going!
My point is that most folks don’t really know how good they have it living in one of the most beautiful places on earth. As you have witnessed, us Greeks are very emotional people. The same person that is bitter about their country is likely the one that will defend that land when they step foot overseas.
Thanks again for your content!

@@PenelopeRigatosVery true Penelope.
I'm 59 years old born and raised in Canada to Greek parents. Since I was a child I have returned many times and I absolutely love Greece and my fellow Greeks.
Since I was a child I have always made it my goal to retire and live my days out in Greece. This decision was made when Canada was still a good country that I loved, well those days are long gone and I can't wait to retire.
Unfortunately my family treats me like I'm crazy and nobody is supporting this move, I'm fine with this and I'm doing this within the next couple years. Well not all family, I have a cousin who also was born in Canada that lives in Athens and she tells me hurry up and move, life is much better in Greece than it is in Vancouver where I live.
I'm 61, born in Greece, came to Canada at 5 years old and you're absolutely right # 1 Canada is not the same country it was when we were young and our parents were able to improve their life situation. My parents brought me here so that we could have a better life, yet I feel that for me and my family to have a better life, we should move back to Greece because #2, Greece is the best country in the world when it comes to natural beauty- sea, sun, mountains , adventure in moving to a new country and enjoying a wonderful simple lifestyle with an amazing culture and history. If you live beneath your means and as Daniel says enjoy the simple things in life , then I believe it's possible for diaspora like us. Congrats on your decision and I hope in time your family supports you. We only live once - you must do what's in your heart.
@stevegavrilos21 Nice to hear from a likeminded fellow Greek Canadian. I doubt my family has the courage to follow me but I do believe we have a shot at a much better life in Greece than we do in Canada. Good luck to you as well, my family is from Thessalia but I have no idea where I'm going to settle. Nafplio has been on my list as well as Thessaloniki and Crete.
Interesting, my parents could not understand my obsession in getting my Greek citizenship. They thought Canada was great. Key word "was" great. After they passed, I got my citizenship and looking at making the move. Being retired makes it easy.
@gianni1632 Well I secured Greek citizenship for myself years ago and for both of my sons.
I understand it would be a tough move for my boys but after selling our house we'd have enough money to secure a home for each of them in Greece. We would have the means to give them a good start at least.
My brother and sister in law are leaving Calgary next year and making their permanent move to Greece next year.
I keep praying my family follows us as I'm positive they'll enjoy their life a lot more in Greece.
Good luck with your retirement I wish you all the best.
@@chrisnivo Well done! Thank you for your wishes.

Good morning Daniel!
I'm watching from Ohio, USA. Greece, without a single doubt, is the most beautiful country in the world. The people of Greece are the kindest, most gracious people in the world. The lifestyle I believe exists, has to be the least stressful in the world. I was born in Greece and the last time I visited was in 2017. Right now, today, I am desperate to return, not because I'm in any trouble where I live, but because I crave the sun, the sea, and the people. I live in a country full of hate, ignorance and selfishness, and it's getting worse everyday. There is nowhere I can find respite from the daily gray sky that suits my mood. There is nothing to look forward to- no money for vacations, no place that doesn't have muddy lakes and rivers, no place where I can feel safe. People are getting shot in the grocery stores, theaters, churches, during concerts and parades. Gun violence has become an epidemic. Violence against women and children has become an epidemic. I can list a hundred more reasons living in the US is slowly killing me. I would be living in Greece right now, but my 28 year old daughter can't afford to pay rent on her own. Everyday I daydream of living a life filled with daily visits to the sea, eating fresh, delicious and healthy food, and enjoying a daily siesta. Daniel, please continue sharing your mornings with us because you inspire me in so many ways. Much love to you and your family. 💙🇬🇷💙
I resonate with your situation, although remember this, glory favours the bold. Ο τολμών δίκα.
I was born and raised in the US (specifically the South), and I feel the same way. I feel as though there is no where to turn for myself. Though many of my friends live in the US, I don’t feel welcome by my own country anymore.
But Greece seems to be the right place for me. They have the hospitality my home used to be known for. The weather is so similar to my part of the US that I feel prepared for the hot summers and overcast winters.
I’ve had an interest in Greece ever since I was small, and now I feel I know why. Ελλάδα is calling me

My two cents to anyone looking to relocate to Greece is to visit the country as a tourist. If you start comparing things between Greece (or any other country) and the country you currently live then you are not ready to relocate. Relocation requires you to get a mindset of problem resolution and adapting yourself to the culture and lifestyle of the country you are looking to relocate. The country is never going to adapt to your own lifestyle. If you don't get that mindset, you will be living a miserable life and you will regret your decision - and most probably, you won't last long. My cousin was visiting last year for vacation and was also thinking about moving to Greece from the States. During his stay, all his thoughts were about how better life is in the States compared to Greece. I told him he can't relocate to Greece because he is unable to relocate anywhere else than within the States. Simple as that.
I totally hear you same thing with my cousins that go to Greece always thinking USA is better for this that and you know- annoying and when they are in the US complain about US and how Greece is better 😂
Dear friend. I have watched 2 of your videos so far and I am still trying to understand how you are thinking. I know that you are not just trying to convince someone to come to Greece, just you believe that you have to express your personal experience to the foreigners mainly. From my point of view you are right to everything. First, no one likes his country until moves to another country and then face new difficulties there where again will complaint and so on. Secondly, about Greeks yes, we are not satisfied with our country but mainly not satisfied with our state. Not the mountains and the sea. The way the state is working and although the last years working better (after the long crisis things are improved little by little) we are still not absolutely satisfied. Third, I do believe that Greece is one of the best countries in the world and I have visited many, believe me. We have the most beautiful nature which you can see/enjoy anywhere. We have a very simple life without extreme situations. We have real freedom. Even the law is not always an obstacle. We have high standards in Health, Education, Hygiene environment. We have the ability to enjoy every moment of our life. Of course there are people who will not agree with me but, the 10 years crisis left much hate to the people heart. I am blessed I live in Greece and I grow up my family here and I do recommend anyone from abroad (foreigner of Greek) to relocate here and live for ever.
Hi Daniel from Halkidiki. Well said! I have new neighbors opposite of my house, a couple from Austria. I asked them why they chose Greece for their retirement.
They said exactly the same, the sun and the sea. They stay outside at their patio all their free time and enjoy the sun. Greece is one of the best places for retirement.
On the other hand, young Greek couples are right to complain about creating a family in Greece, especially in the big cities because they are facing a lot of difficulties. But you are right in one thing... If you don't like your life, you need to find ways to change it, and it has nothing to do with living in a specific country. Greetings from another sunny place! 😊
Greeks are #1 when it comes to complaining especially he women 😵💫
I will come to Greece in 3 years. I Love ❤️ Greece 🇬🇷!

Everything you are saying is so deep and well thought. Everybody in Greece tells you not to go back if you left or are a foreigner, but they take for granted the excellent climate, food, and customs that contribute to a good quality of life and longevity. Keep spreading the word. Some struggle financially and this is all they can think about. Thanks for sharing!
I love your mindset! It reflects intentionality and risk-literacy, showing you're aware of the opportunity cost of inaction. You said at some point: "There's nothing bad that's ever happened to me that I haven't turned around"; so incredibly hopeful and inspiring! Keep sharing your journey! From a Greek who moved to the UK. Ευχαριστώ!
Thank you for sharing! I moved from Greece to the UK 20 years ago...now the only thought that gives me strength and keeps me going is that of leaving!!! Here I exist, in Greece I am alive (regardless of difficulties).

You're absolutely right when you say that fear is the default mode of humankind, and people will always try to tell you how to live your life based on their fears. It's obvious then since you (or anyone) live your life and no one else's, you must follow not their direction but you own heart. Thank you for this confirmation. All the best to you as always.

i came to Greece in 1996 at age 24 from Melbourne Australia. I was born from Greek parents i had never come here before i came on my own not with my parents. Greece is a beautiful country. But if you dont have money from abroad to invest in real estate and collect rent never come to live here no Jobs and pay is really bad. But if you have money and you know what you are doing and purchase apartments in average areas in Athens and rent them return on investment can be as high as 20%. Also get some near metro station and run a few airbnb amazing return. But you need to know what you are doing it took me a good 10 years to learn this all but now i have an amazing lifestyle good luck to all my fellow ex pats

You imigrated to Greece when I emigrated searching for a better future for my kids. You like Greece now. Imagine how beautiful Greece was at 80s & 90s. This is what we lost and the reason ppl advise their relatives to stay abroad. I was living in an island, I was going to beautiful beaches every single day. Now I live away from the paradise I used to live and I blame Greece everyday for that. But I dont regret I left because where I am now, I have future, my kids are able to dream.
It's such a personal decision really!!
We are both Greeks you met and lived in the UK for years.
We had our friends, work and life there and it was fine. But something was missing. I was so homesick. We came back to our family, friends and life as we know it. There are many times/days that I regret the choice of coming back... But still today 8 years back here and with our daughter being 3 years old ... I really don't know what would really be the best place for us to be.
I believe that many places have pros and cons. Greece has many contradictions. But for me the key phrase is: home is where your heart is.

GOD BLESS YOU DANIEL!
Remember in life you can't please everyone.
Thats how it is.
You really make a lot of sense, you are very grounded and realistic.
You are truly a sincere person and you speak from the heart.
Keep on Keeping on brother!
Dan, people like to project their own fear and negativity to you and your plan. "Misery brings company." But it's your own life, so you should pursue whatever dream you have to wherever in the world you wish to live. Don't let other people's negative projection deter you from your own goal. Thank you for posting your daily videos.
Don't worry to much about those Greeks from aboard
Many " fresh" Greek immigrants are bitter about their situation and always off the rails
Just don't think much about it
Having said that I believe that if someone really wants to move to Greece or any other country must have a sound plan, be committed to goals and be ready for a harsh reality checks 😉
But the rewards, well the entire channel one can say is about those rewards 😉
I completely agree with you about propaganda from abroad to bring Greece down. I lived there for 5 years and realized it was the home for me in proper time. I've got my little home in Athens waiting for me 😊
Daniel if you run for election to be the Mayor of Nafplio I'll vote for you.
😊
The most sincere speech I heard in along time. Thank you Daniel for your kind words and sincerety! Btw you should visit north Greece sometime. Venezuela for Copa America!😉
I was born in the United States, raised in Greece until 14 years of age at which point my parents moved back to the United States. After 14 years living in Greece and 28 living in the United States, the only place I really feel at home anymore is the airplane. Since migrating back to the US, having been exposed to the Greek way of life and what it is like living in Greece, at the age of 42 now I can say with certainty that I never really adapted to the United States. During the last four years I have been forced to travel to Greece twice a year in order to "push" the inheritance process that started when my father passed in 2020. What I mean is something that I'm sure all Greeks will understand as well as you, due to Greek beaurocracy and the slow moving status quo needing a lot of time to take care of stuff when compared to other countries. Having said that and having created a comfortable living here in the United States, I must admit that I have never been more ready to move back to Greece and give myself a chance to experience what you are experiencing my friend. With all its faults, no place can compare to living in a country like Greece, especially on a Greek island or a place near water like you are. I've been your subscriber for about a month now, and I have to admit that watching your videos are pushing me to start decoupling myself and my family from the US in order to move back to Greece. Thank you for doing this. Keep going. Quality content!
I'm born and raised American but plan to return to Greece permanently in a few years, if God allows.
Hi dear Daniel,
Thank you so much for your effort to create this channel and content.
I found you as I am thinking of relocating to Nafplio and it was the moment you uploaded your 2nd video. You're helping a lot!
As Greek (Athenian) living abroad there are things I could argue about your perspectives. But at the end of the day I could not agree more with you as what you share I believe is common sense and life-based-values way of thinking.
People have priorities. If what you deeply lack (and it might not necessary be your fault) is money and a sense of tidiness then this is your priority and Greece is - probably - not going to fulfill it. At least not in an easy and natural way. If you value sun, sea, quality food relationships etc a northern country is also not going to give you this experience in an easy way.
What would be nice to share - I believe - is about your mindset. Greece is not a nice country to live I believe. But it is a beautiful one. And this is why so many people - mainly Greeks - got hurt and they need to blame the country in order to get the courage to move abroad. I don't think anyone is right or wrong and I don't believe there is a "perfect place". Otherwise everybody would have already move there.
Till the next one :)
I am an American, and I want to move to Greece one day. Your perspective is very helpful for me to prepare myself! Thank you ❤
Daniel, thank you for your videos. I'm enjoying watching you early with my cup of coffee. Saludos, from Los Angeles ☕✌️
I live in Greece now for 11 years and could not imagine to return to Germany, except for an exceptionally good job position or in case of very complicated health problem. Some things are extremely out of order here in Greece and some things are far below standards for a developed world country. Some of these problems are hard to tolerate even for me as a Greek citizen. Contrary to other people I see considerable improvements every year and a good outlook for the Greek economy.
My family spends summer holidays camping close to Nafplion. For eight years already and no way that we are giving it up.
Love and respect from Belgrade, Serbia
Daniel, your passion, commitment and courage are inspiring! I was born in Athens, grew up in the states and will be retiring to Greece in less than a year! I plan on a visit to Nafplio once I relocate, would be great to have coffee or tsipouro with you!!! cheers!!
See you in a year Taki.
Daniel, we simply are the sum of our choices. I am Greek and was living in London for 5 years. Came back 7 years ago. Never regretted it because i know myself and what matters most in my life. Negativity always comes either from the need to reassure one's decisions or simply being bitter about the outcome of these decisions.
Its a HUGE mistake to believe that Greece depends on tourism, which is 18% of the GDP ,the country has the no 1 maritime fleet in the world ,is one of the biggest exporter of aluminium, its on the top five exporters of petroleum products in Europe, one of the biggest exporters in Pharmaceuticals ,Electrical machinery and equipment, Machinery including computers ,the third exporter of olive oil in the world...parts producer of the F16 fighter jet and more...
Hi Daniel, just to say, thank you for your videos!
Me and my family have been spending our vacations for the last seven years in Nafplio and we love everything about it. Your channel brings me the vibes when I am not around.
Hope to see you in Nafplio this year. Keep pushing and cheers from Bulgaria!
Brother Daniel
I’ve watched many of your videos but this one hit the spot!
Thank you❣️
AMEN! “The sea and the sun!” 🇬🇷
Love your channel because of your honesty and truth! Keep it up 👍💞
Stumbled upon your channel and i want to share my 2 cents.
I have followed and watched several others channel about living in Greece and I do think that you have a different approach when it comes to foreigners who want, or think they want, to move and live in Greece.
I have only moved/relocated once in my life, and that was because i went to university in another city and eventually i found job and settled there, until now.
I watched several channels about Greece, including yours, and i think living in Greece seems like a dream come true for me. A simple and slower pace life, surrounded with beautiful nature. Even now i'm not entirely sure and comitted, because moving to an entirely new and foreign country is a really big move that will have a significant imlact to your life, even more now that i have a family of my own.
My main takeaway from your channel so far is that, for those who want to move to Greece and want some type of "security" you better first secure your financial income, or savings. Coming from a country with far weaker currency than euro, just leaving my job here with some little savings i have sounds very daunting.
Starting to build your income online is a great first step. Once you are able to make good income online, you would have more freedom to move anywhere since you can still work and not lose your income even when you move to another country.
Hopefully someday i will be able to enjoy the beautiful life and nature there in Greece. ❤
Thanks for sharing but there is no such thing as security. We all need to earn enough money to live a good life. I have worked in industries where earning money is almost impossible: music and working online. All of this while living in Greece. That said, I know people here in Greece who do very well. Not everyone is broke or earning minimum wages here in Greece. All the best my friend!
It seems you're having a better day, Daniel, I am happy for you. Love your videos!
Great video Daniel! I identified with a lot of what you said. Ignore the negative comments☺
My thought years before the crisis was every Greek should live at least 5 years outside Greece then they can come back. Only then they will appreciate what they have here in this country
You ar so right in everything!!
Serious job.
I live in Germany and i m Greek
People are always going to criticize and take an opposing opinion for the sake of arguing. I love how positive you are in life and how you love every moment and seconds you are living .Greeks there some not all don’t understand they think life is easy in the USA, Canada, Uk and other countries. There is no life other than work and stress in these countries. I see your videos how relax you are and how peaceful it is there and how you are loving life !Daniel you a good man, god bless you!
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Greek Australian here, would love to bring the work from home arrangement and spend 6 months in Greece and 6 months in Australia. Wonder if my boss will be so accommodating 😁
. Only one way to find out 👍
Yia sou!
Daniel , your excellent sensitive and insightful commentary on your life in Greece is well presented . I am a 2 1/2 generation American of Greek descent . We just returned from our latest trip to Hellas last night .
I must say that my 2nd generation Cypriot husband and I returned renewed and enlivened . We attempt to bring the Greek ethos back to the US each time we return from our Greece vacations .
We see so much “ philotimo” amongst the population as a whole . There is a softness , gentleness , kindness and politeness that is not generally seen here in the States. It warms our hearts and is so appealing .
The faithfulness seen amongst the people as they continually bless everyone they come in contact with . This living kindness is in their DNA .
May I inquire if you are an Orthodox Christian ?
Our experience at the various monasteries has been the highlight of our travels . Since we speak the Greek language , we are able to experience the Greek , the Orthodox Ethos through the continual conversations we are blessed to have . We come home truly changed and more illumined in every way . For us , Greece is a paradise . It is gorgeous in its physical geography . Breathtakingly magnificent indeed. The Greek people are magnificent . The Orthodoxy is deep and life changing .
Tourists are deeply appreciated and they cannot do enough to satisfy you . The food is of superior quality and we didn’t have anything besides wonderful meals for 3 1/2 weeks !
Daniel, I commend you for your desire to bring new ideas and to increase employment opportunities . Greece needs this perspective to provide employment opportunities.Bravo !
BTW: 75% of the Greeks own their own homes . Most do not live in crippling debt .
In closing we give Greece 10 stars ! There’s nothing lacking in our opinion .
I grew up in Rafina and left Greece for Canada in 2001.
Im visiting Greece in October and im gonna try to pass by Panagioti for some tsipouro and maybe have some sfinakia with you re. opa!
It's difficult for most people to understand you, when they have never been on a similar situation or do not have the mindset. I am 40 years old and I moved around a lot. I've worked for at least 2 years in Geneva, Thessaloniki, Alexandroupolis, Chania and now Athens. Each time I had to build my social network and my life from scratch. But, this is the exciting part!
Your heart is in the right place man!
Good morning Daniel! If you have a house and relatives that can help you (most people in Greece own a minimum of 1 to 2 houses), in terms of staying somewhere then yeah Greece is good. Like my grandmother used to say, “The sun and the sea are not going to feed you”. The country and the people are beautiful. The laws and politicians are ugly. I congratulate you on succeeding to live in Greece with your family, well done and I wish you good luck for the future. I hope to go back to Greece and live there again after a separation (with three children), and being made bankrupt after paying a huge amount and having to sell my dream house that I eventually built for my daughters to pay my ex. I love watching your channel as it brings back great memories of what I used to do as well. Heaven on earth!
Visited Greece last year and I was stunned by the beauty of the landscape, people , culture, history and food. When I retire in about a year I like to live long periods in Greece as long as law allows without applying for permanent residency. I don’t know how long that is but probably you can tell me.
Big fan. I love how chilled you seem. I’m hoping to relocate to Paphos soon and wanted to ask you what the broadband is like? And if I should get a Greek SIM, or stick with my UK one? Ευχαριστώ, Τζέισον από το Νησί του Γουάιτ.
You are right. I agree 💯. I’m a Greek and I can attest to what you are saying.
I agree absolutely with you that security is an illusion and that they have created a stereotyp image from Creece that’s not real. You are absolutely right, only if someone has lived for many years abroad is aware of what kind of life Greece offers! I have lived my half life in Germany, because I was married to a german and I can confirm that the life in Greece is more healthy , more peaceful and more harmonious. And last but not least more inexpensive in comparison to the countries of middle Europe. IΕίμαι πολύ ευτυχισμένη που είμαι πάλι στην Ελλάδα! Πολλά φιλιά από την Κρήτη!
There is a difference between people who still are conditioned to live in survival mode. When you start living out of joy and you live out of inspiration… the sun and the sea can mean everything to you! It does to me.
Be able to go for walks daily, feeling safe, get sunlight, a slow life, be able to create a community based on deep connections, etc. that becomes the everything we need.
I’m Colombian living in the UAE for 12 years. I just came back from my first time in Greece. Stayed 20 days, I’m in love with it… and considering it as my next stop …
Same everyone while I was there told me : “don’t move!!!” “Are you serious, you will move from The UAE?” “What’s wrong with you!” Hahaha Clearly not everyone gets it
Strong talk! Thank you, man!
Being half Greek and living in California, and still having family living in Greece (Athens), I totally understand your choice of moving to Greece! If you can live a simple lifestyle and you are healthy, Greece is a wonderful place to be. But, seeing my niece and nephew who are struggling to find a job, it makes you think about the opportunities for young people… they are both thinking about moving to another country where there’s more opportunities… I know we can create our own opportunities but young people don’t see that… they see how they’re struggling to find a job…
Now, there are pros and cons anywhere you go… in the US, gun violence is a big issue, at least for me… but you can find a job that pays pretty well…
So look at what’s important for you and go from there… no place is perfect, that’s what you make of it ❤
thanks for trying to add clarity to how people think when it comes to relocating
Hello form Toronto. Been enjoying your videos. So many expats with Greek heritage want a better life.. Greece is attractive. I've been to Nafplio twice in the last 7 years. I've travelled to Greece and many many cities and towns over the last few years. The goal was to experience different parts of Greece and also scout out future potential locations to retire to. I'm also considering the Ionanian Islands as they appeal to me. I wonder if anyone else is considering this?
@@SteveGarganis when you think retiring in a Greek island, you may want to think of the following: healthcare in Greece is far below what you are accustomed; in an island even further below acceptable standards.
Isolation during the winter months; costs of goods as most are shipped from the mainland; climate change; buying property (a lengthy, frustrating process); maintaining property is another challenge all to itself.
Good luck!
I'll leave a positive comment for any negative one Daniel! lol KEEP UP THE NICE VIDS! ♥
I agree that it's definitely not the most depressed country. I am from the UK originally. The UK feels very depressing in comparison. A country surrounded by the sea and with sun most days of the year is not a depressive country, that's why it gets so many tourists from northern Europe coming here and people that move here from those northern european countries, like myself.
Hi Daniel, born and raised in Ontario Canada to Greek parents. I'm 47years old. Since I was a child I have been many times and I love Greece and everything about Greece.
My Parents would send me to stay with family and I would stay for 2 months at a time.
BTW if you actually look at the article about the most depressed country is Greece. The WHO media is proclaiming that piece of information in my mind is not a very good source ;)
Greeks born and raised in Greece unfortunately think USA and Canada are the best place to live. Yes, at one point it was. Not so anymore.
Also those trolls/haters as you call them . For instance when they do come to Canada they'll work as a janitor and work 7 days a week. Yet they'll never take a janitor job in Greece.
Trust me I see with my own eyes. Like you've said many times in your content Greece has its faults but all countries do. The economy is crap everywhere!
To me and I think you would agree it's about the sun, beach , weather and healthier food by your foot step.
The move to Greece with my family will soon happen.
Haters gonna hate... always!
Greek born in Canada, will be visiting nafplio next week!
Going to Nafplio on July 30th and looking for apartment to buy. Cannot leave Toronto soon enough
People come to Greece for various reasons. I first came to Greece in 2021 and again in 2022 because I couldn’t find a job back home. It was during the COVID-pandemic. I have a master’s degree and live in a rich and wealthy country such as Denmark, but I can’t find a job (applying both inside and outside my field). Thinking about relocating, but I am still in doubt. The only reason to relocate to Greece is if, I don’t find a job in Denmark. When living in Greece most Greeks also became surprised when I told them I’m from Denmark and decided to live and work in Greece.

I’m watching from the Southern US! I want to live in Greece one day, hopefully to work as an anthropologist! This country has captured my heart and won’t let go, and I haven’t even visited yet! It seems like such a welcoming, historically rich country. Your videos are helping me work out a plan to make a move happen, and they help me know what to expect.
I’m currently learning Greek on the side, and I can already read most things. I do not know words or grammar yet, though. It’s slow going, but I am very determined. ❤
Florida
You wanted to go back to the land of your birth? I thought only Turtles or Salmon had that urge. 😂
From Larisa. Opinion is like an ass, everybody got one as we say in Greece. Don't mind the trolls, i am enjoying your content every day and i am Greek. Also it is compulsory to do your military duty, but it is something quite meaningless ,but also good, because that's the last time that you are without real life obligations. Anyone that has served and had family and a job afterwards knows what i mean!
I agree with you. I’m in Canada
Greece is the sun, the sea, the mountains, the clean air, the amazing food and the freedom of having all of that even when leaving in Athens with relative ease via train or bus. No car required.
God bless you my man 👍💪🏻🙏
Excellent....
The morning looks ethereal
Yes it is. I will be recording more videos early in mornings. Thanks for the support!
On the military service topic. When the boys are in the age of 18 they have to go to the army, but it can be postponed if they go to a university or a trade school, and when they finish their education then they go to serve in the military.
I love this video thank you for sharing
Nafplio, Hoi An in Vietnam and Taormina in Italy are my most beloved towns worldwide
i lived in the USA,Lebanon,France and Italy, but i have decided to retire in Crete ,i just hope my pension is enough to live a quiet life with my dog.....
Avanti, Daniel!
Todo uma exageraçao. O calor e igual do k o Rio de Janeiro
