I gotta know how much simple got payed for this because the commentary feels so candid, the gameplay looks jank at best and it overall looks like a miserable experience.
Simple took it as a challenge if that's the case, to see if he could stretch this past 15 minutes
eh it's a weird case. It's basically just stalker with block graphics and multiplayer. now the biggest problem here is that 95% of zoomers dont know or can appreciate the stalker jank that molds you. I would play this if it wasnt for the block graphics, since I love stalker. but stalker to me is directly connected to the x-ray engine and all of its stupid bugs and glitches.
I played it back when it had its major release, and it actually feels very nice to play. The area with the fire spouts towards the end of the video really tests your movement abilities if one of the storm things start, forcing you to rush back to a bunker while dodging lava, black holes, and fire spouts.
Shooting is pretty enjoyable and PvPing while dodging the abnormality things was a highlight for sure. You could get up to some pretty crazy shenanigans if you played around them right. Easy to lose pursuers if you know your way around an area.
There's also a late-game high-stakes team-based PvP area. I never ended up getting there because I wasted hours in the fire spout area looking for a specific artifact, and by the time I got it my friends had quit playing. But what can you do about that :P
the story was pretty decent as well, even if questing was a bit of trial and error. you're heavily punished for being wishy-washy, and I found that out the hard way, while my two friends took the hardcore "evil" and hardcore "good" routes themselves.
@@qaywsx583The live service/cash shop aspects are what turn me off of it, overwhelmingly so. The promo simple got for a free scar probably won't be free forever.
Also having convenient death traps that permanently takes all your stuff seems like really really scummy design to push people to buy their stuff back from the cash shop.
Never played Stalker but based on comments it's seemingly a single player version of this but not Roblocks style. That sounds waaay better than this.
@@slimjim2321 Yeah, absolutely avoid this one and play an actual Stalker game if the setting and core ideas interest you. The original trilogy is very beloved but it shows its age and you have to embrace the jank in all aspects: engine, graphics, balance, gunplay, movement, map design... lol. It's still worth playing but you have to be used to those kinds of games or be very able to accept them. For a more modern and polished experience I recommend Stalker Anomaly. It's a free, standalone mod with a completely overhauled engine and much improved mechanics - still a bit jank, and it doesn't retain the story of Call of Prypiat which its based from, but much more solid. The added difficulty and complexity of the mod might turn you off initially but it's super customizable, you can tone all that down and have a more approachable initial experience if you so desire :)
If your game can be described with 100% honesty and precision as "Property A but mixed with Property B" then you've created a mod
I disagree, but having said that, I think it is absolutely possible to combine two things in an extremely lackluster way

I wouldn't say that because mods are an entirely technical term. There's plenty of ways to talk about a game being bad without saying something false and attracting people to correct you cause that derails conversations from the point easily.

Played this ages ago, found a guy that was afk in a bush by making a perimeter through watching the "nearby Player" counter until I had a center point right on top of him.
only took me like 20 minutes. worth it.
the team vs team was really enjoyable, a friend and I would chill out near the enemy's routes into certain zones and ambush them.
Not sure how it is now, it's been a couple years. The foundation was nice outside of trying to farm for artifacts lol.

I played for about 10hr. Pretty fun game but very hard to make content for since you can't really convey the tense moments and build up the way you experience in a live stream
i mean we're talking about the dude who decided to speedrun a shitty horror game where you get chased by a giant chicken. i think simple is capable of having fun in any game, no matter how horrible, if there's sufficient opportunity for comedy in it
At no fault of Simple, this game did exceptionally little to compel me to even try it. My mind filled with static as some kind of allergic response when I started to hear "thanks to the promotion, I was able to claim tickets to yadda yadda yadda". Major mobile game energy there. Even if it was "free", the gun that clearly puts you at an advantage over anyone that doesn't have it as well being locked in a battle pass told me all I needed to know.
Entertaining video though, Simple. I admit that the energy here seems a bit low compared to when you're having fun in the moment of other games, but I get that this is not a game that's really easy to capture those moments for. At least you had fun while playing this! I hope.

not gonna lie, invisible instant-death trap seems like not great game design.
First of all, they are not invisible, they look like bubbles.
Second, you are meant to throw bolts to see them more clearly.
Third, this is a mechanic from a game series called STALKER.
And finally, the don't insta kill if you have armour that reduces that type of damage.
Hope tht clears things up a bit.

From what I've seen so far the grind is essential and the only p2w implementation is skin cases which (technically) can provide you with in-game currency buuut you fall under the category of improving the character like in other MMOs

@@leeldraw6375 He shows himself claiming tickets in the battlepass, the tickets can be used to buy better guns. I don't know if you can buy tickets with real money but there's a button for buying battlepass levels, which rewards the player with advantages.

This game looks like the developer didn't want to work on either modeling anything or creating a cohesive artstyle so he took a default lighting engine and textures and made everything Minecraft-looking so he could skimp on modeling work.

yeah, you can tell when simple actually likes a sponsor, like with idle slayer, vs this, which feels so soulless and not like him and his style, but like he's said, he's taking these sponsorships so that he can pay his team and work on bigger projects
edit: i think what happened was he said so little interesting when playing the game that they had to do a narration style of editing between clips to salvage the footage

Hey Simple, just wanted to say I appreciate the video, though it didn't feel as engaging as your other usual content. It definitely came across as sponsored. I think the story format can work for a particular sponsor/game, but this game wasn't cohesive enough to make it appealing (especially with stuff like the game killing you with blurry environmental hazards). Some parts felt like your usual content (like the helicopter joke) though most felt too bland.
When looking at other sponsor videos you've done, I think about the UFO: Unidentified Falling Objects one. Reactions were genuine since it was a stream, progress was apparent, and most of all it looked like you were having fun. It made me want to buy the game. Here though, I don't know if the gameplay was streamed or recorded, but it feels like your reactions and narrating are a little forced. I don't feel that usual energy and chill vibes you bring to your videos.
My suggestion is to try something that either leans into the narrative side only or the stream/live side only. The mix can work but it was too apparent here. It doesn't help that the game doesn't appeal to me from the start. Maybe if there was a way to bring in a few friends into it like your TTT videos, then it might be more enjoyable and bring your usual tone.
At the end of the day, I know you have to take sponsors to pay the bills and you can't be too selective right now, so I hope this feedback can make the next one more enjoyable!

as someone that's played this, this game absolutely blows for those that don't enjoy MMO FPS Rougelikes with heavy PvP focus, that still requires ample amounts of PvE quests for progress, which can be interrupted by other players at any point or even have people camp the quest locations. I just so happen to be someone that despises that kinda bs. So, yeah. Game's trash. Simple as.
The blackhole mechanic is the main reason why I don't think I'd try this game.
