32,000 Dominoes: Beating The Odds - Reactica 2022 Official Topple Video

- This year’s build features 32,000 dominoes, 200 machine steps, and a super talented team of twelve builders. With domino techniques from many different decades, and machine tricks with many different levels of complexity, this is the best build and topple that Reactica has had so far.
This year's theme is "Beating The Odds", with tricks and ideas centered around probability. There are trickshots, launches, and lots of risk! The setup is divided into four main quadrants, with a spinner wheel and arrow at the very center - which section will the arrow land on? The grand finale is the unofficial World Record for Longest Structure Chain, with 36 domino structures connected by string that fall in sequence.
From June 27 to July 3, we were hard at work setting up this build at The Tech Interactive in San Jose, CA. Throughout the week, we also hosted workshops teaching the venue guests how to build dominoes and machines. On July 4 at noon, we toppled everything for an in-person audience of hundreds!
I've waited so long to bring Reactica back as a live event and I am so proud of what we accomplished this year. I can't wait to potentially bring it back in the future and keep pushing the boundaries of live domino and machine event builds!

Creativity check, originality check, awesomeness check! ♡ :)
Wooo thank you!! :)
Such an amazing project!! There were so many great moments throughout, including some of the most innovative tricks I've ever seen included in a live event. The idea to break the setup up into distinct colour sections was awesome too and I love that all of the machine tables stuck to the colour scheme as well. This is probably my favourite Reactica event so far, great work to everyone involved!! :)
Thanks so much! Yea the machine builders knocked it out of the park with their theming :)
Wow great job to the whole team!! The whole thing was so well done! Love the style of this year's build and how it's slightly more spread out, yet still highly complex with some very clever tricks. I have a lot of thoughts so here we go...
- I particularly loved the ones that shoot things in the air like at 1:12 and 5:51 - it tricks you and makes you think it's going to hit something afterward... but it doesn't, and that's very fun and playful.
- 6:28 The spinner was a nice centerpiece and I really like how the entire project is separated into quadrants following specific colors schemes.
- 5:48 was also very cool to use the transparent pieces, it's almost like the ball is floating and defying physics!
- 1:21 woww so smooth :)
- 6:38 congrats on the unofficial structure chain WR! I'm so glad everything triggered properly - it was a great and suspenseful finale!
- 8:09 woohoo! H5 Domino Community is a proud sponsor of Reactica :)
Nice to see new team members as well. Overall, was a superb event! 👏
Thank you for all your thoughts and thank you for sponsoring!! Glad to have made the H5 Domino Community proud
Incredible topple! I loved all the chain reactions and machines, and this is so insane! And I loved the structures at the finale which were an unofficial world record.
Thank you so much!! Glad you loved the world record :)
Unbelievable! This is the kind of thing I can watch over and over again. I hope I can watch an event like this in the future and maybe I'll even be involved some day. Great work!
That’s awesome to hear, thank you so much
I don’t know what to say. I am totally mindblowed!!!!!!
Thank you!!
You're abitilty to make all of this possible while also balancing creative elements with reliable ones is absolutely insane! You seem to impress everyone all the time! All those other builders working with you have made incredible work in the past, and yet it seems like you hosted it all, while also letting everyone else express themselves. It's also impressive how the contraption king was in there. Keep it all up. I also hope Brady starts uploading to his channel again.
Thank you so much
Creative, colorful, phenomenal DOMINO structure!
Thank you!!
DUDE THIS WAS SO GOOD!!!!! The team did an absolutely incredible job with every part of this project, and the amount of creativity you guys were able to show, while still being restricted to what you guys had due to the colors, was absolutely incredible! Very very well done Alex and the rest of the Reactica team :D
Thank you so much! Color coded event sections were something new I was eager to try, I’m glad they ended up working :)
Obviously it's impressive for being huge, but it's also impressively elegant. Great job!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you liked it! :)
Bravo!!! That arrow…
Glad you like it Paul! :)
Seriously insane everyone! I'm super impressed, I can only imagine the number of times those tables were tested beforehand. I'm speechless! Definitely one of the most impressive domino and chain reaction run I've ever seen. Love the new faces on the team too! Cheers Alex and everyone involved
Thanks, that really means a lot :) I told everyone to finish their tables two days before the falldown so they’d get a full day to test!
YOU....JUST....MADE....MY MIND....EXPLODE! THIS IS OUT OF THIS WORLD! Congratulations! 👏 You have the skill of everything you have done and now you did this in a big event! I'm very proud of you for making this happen! Congratulations. You should tell this to the builders that have done this. Well done! 👍
Thank you so much!! I’m so happy to have made it happen and I appreciate the kind words
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! This is amazing work from every builder!!! Congratulations!
Thank you so much!! :)
The best design & topple I have ever seen. The arrangement of surprises is awesome! Yikes can hear the audiences cheers at the exciting surprises. It’s such fun to watch this topple. Excellent work of all the builders, & specially the leadership & design of Alex’s outstanding domino skills. I was totally impressed by the topple. IMHO, I think this is the best topple I have ever seen, congratulations, Alex! A job well done. 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Thank you!! That means a lot! :)
I am (very) late to this, but you guys did amazing. The subtlety of this build is beautiful, really requires the full attention of the viewer
Thank you so much Gabe! :)
Epic! :)
Thanks!!
Flawless, nice job!!!
Thank you!!
Brady’s smile is something else
Yes! 😊
Nice!
Thanks :)
This was so darn awesome! I wished I knew about it to be at the Tech to see it! Loved the towers crashing and Rube Goldberg components of this amazing build.
Thanks so much!! Hope to see you there next time :)
Really splendid and incredible!
Thank you!!
Steve's too tall for the photo lol
Anyways great job and the wr was amazing!
Thank you! And Steve is actually photoshopped in since he had to leave before falldown day hahaha
Machine artists scare me, y'all are black magicians or something. I was relieved when dominoes started toppling, that I can understand
Hahaha 😂
Awesome! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Thank you!
やっぱりすごい😆⤴️
We're hosting a kitten adoption event in this exact same space later this month. Maybe we combine kittens and dominos next time? 🤔
Ooh, imagine pulling something like that off!! 😊
I may need a kitten.....we lost our old girl to cancer last month.
Someone made a screen link called cats and dominoes i think
Some part of me wants to see a small terrier come in and ruin it 😭
Lol not even my own pet has ruined mine >:)
