    I always look forward to watching these videos when I get the alert. For me this is the best one yet. The subject, wild location, the narrative and the awesome pictures. I think these captured Corey perfectly. I’m not a fan of twisting the model into exaggerated poses these looked so natural it made me feel inspired. Thanks for sharing

    You have another subscriber. This was a beautifully done video. I am a control freak and rarely shoot without my own lighting but that location and model worked great with natural light. The back-lit shots of her kneeling in the field were stone-cold gorgeous! Great work.

    I have seen many portrait shootings of you but I like this one the best. Everything seems to be perfect, the model, the amazing connection between you and her, the environment and the gear! And to be really honest, I don't know why but I love the pictures done with G9II more than with the S5II. You should definitely shoot more portraits with the G9II...😊

    Always great to see the Nocticron in use. Barely any of the people testing out and making videos for the G9ii even attempted to use anything but the press kit new lenses that came with the camera. It's a shame, MFT has some of the best portrait lenses for the price you can get that produce amazing results with just enough subject separation that it isn't a distracting blur. The Sigma 30 and 56mm f1.4's along with the Olympus 45 and 75mm f1.8's are 4 great lenses for a decent budget if you hunt used that take great portraits. The 42.5mm f1.7 from Panasonic is also good, but I often find the Oly 45mm for cheaper and fine it has a tad more character, similar to how the Nocticron is "worse" than the 45mm f1.2, but it's not as sterile, the 45mm f1.2 is almost too sharp for portraits.
    Honestly, if it weren't for camera makers being afraid of losing the consumer market to rapidly advancing phones (I'm talking still around 10 years away, but that's not that far off), they would be pushing APS-C and MFT a LOT more than they are instead of creating the cult of full frame with marketing to sell higher profit margin lenses for as long as possible until that consumer market fades away. With current and advancing technology, both in camera and in post-processing, APS-C/MFT should be taking on the role that 35mm film did back when Leica really pushed it. Full frame would act as 120mm film did being a higher quality option that kind of dwindled down to people that actually needed it past just marketing buzz. Leica already tried to push this idea, then dropped it later one without a word really, when they launched the CL, saying it was the camera that Oskar Barnack would make today.
    Currently, I have 2 MFT bodies for work, an E-M5.III and G9, and a Pentax 645Z if I truly need more sensor for the niche situations it really does well with (dreamy portraits for the most part). The difference in price for me to pick up an Olympus 45mm f1.2, or even a 42.5mm f1.2 Nocticron, compared to a similarly solid 85mm optically speaking on any mirrorless FF system is pretty massive. That's not even mentioning the Oly 75mm f1.8 that's basically impossible to replace for even half the price.

      In fact the Olympus 45mm Pro f1.2 has even smoother bokeh, along with silent and faster AF.

    • @kosmidts
      @kosmidts Рік тому

      @@slows728 I think you didn’t use this lens clearly! I used it on my Oly and it is very fast. Bokeh is top!! The Pani is the sharpest with micro contrast!!

    • @slows728
      @slows728 Рік тому +1

      @@kosmidts I had both, I sold the PL almost as soon as I have bought the Olympus. Bokeh is very good but the Oly is even better, visibly smoother, you should try it.
      And my sample of the Oly is also slightly sharper wide open than the PanaLeica I had.
      About micro-contrast, you're right, the Oly 45mm Pro is not the best about micro contrast (the 25mm Pro on the other hand has great micro contrast), but my PL 10-25mm and especially my PL 25-50mm destroy both the Oly 45 and the PL 42.5mm for micro contrast.

    Tx for this - was looking for these kind of work with G9ii. I am keen to get a MFT due to its size - but wanted to know about portrait output in it - at India there is no market for MFT, even Panasonic dont say anything about it. With ur video i made my decision to book it😊

    I've just subscribed, that is stunning work. May I ask, you said that the images were shot using the Leica Monochrome profile, but are the displayed images, straight out of camera JPGs or are they processed and edited from raw?

    • @adventureStaley
      @adventureStaley  Рік тому +1

      Really appreciate it Alex. I was using a very early version of the camera and the Raw images were not editable in Lightroom so on this rare occasion I edited the JPEGs. Didn’t really do anything other than tweak the contrast very slightly and add a smidge of sharpening.
