I appreciate your still photography setup. Most travel-lite videos still include a TON of equipment. I've found the X-T20 with 16-80 f/4 and 23 f/2 to be a powerful combo. I also sneak in the 35 f/2 because it takes amazing dreamy portraits. But all that fits in a small canvas bag and keeps me low key.
When you don't care about the metal construction then you can also buy the XC35 F2. Same optic as the XF35 but with a plastic construction and a 200€ prictag 👌
Don't shoot video, but I went with the 16-80 over the 18-55 and it is my goto walkaround lens on the XT-3. Also use my 35mm f2 the same way you use the 23. Fuji has made photography fun again.
XE4 is a great little rig. Used mine for over a year and then shook up my gear. Kept my XE3. Would own a XE4 again, though. The 18-55 is great lens -- thanks for not pushing it as a "kit" lens. It is so much better than this label. The Samyang 12mm is a nice ultra wide. The 27mm pancake is a Fuji street classic - recommended. All the f2/f2.8 'Fujicrons' are useful. I like small gear, so I also carry the Sony RX100M7 and Sony ZV1. So much better than what many gear heads imagine when they hear 'point and shoot'. Keep it light and keep it small. Don't carry extras that you don't need.
If I get A7RV as my first camera with 70-200mm F4 macro G ii and just use standard Yellow iPhone 15 to shoot closer things with its 13mm, 26mm and 52mm, is it good setup if I'm just hobbyist with good understanding of photography and compositions who want to enjoy shooting and use for personal products shots too? I choose Sony over other brands because they have the lens with unique feature I want like super tele with macro ability that I mentioned, power zoom lens and standard zoom that start from ultra wide 20mm and I love Sony as a brand too. I choose this over A7CII/R because of its good EVF and 4 ways tilt screen and smaller body don't give benefit with big lens other than weight saving and people still notice you have a camera, A7RV is like just as small but with a big EVF attached, the silver top of A7C is nice looking tho. Should I get another lens right away, I have the 16-35mm F4 PZ G in mind, or I should get something faster and prime that still light weight on gimbal? I don't really care for bokeh, that tele will able to do it too if I want to, I like my photos and videos to have story and creativity and not blur out the contexts. Also, have you wonder why put so many effort just to take photos and videos and not just use phone camera to record here and there if it's not your primary work and also your content not all will get pass down and value later? And what camera setup you bring in everyday life and travel, some people use less bulky and performance camera for their own life but use fancy gears for clients and travel, why, isn't everyday life is most parts of our life and important too?
@@mattyloucas We're so spoiled. I remember lugging around my big ol Nikon DSLR with a big ol lens. Here we are complaining of mirrorless being too big now. lol.
would you recommend to take the 24-70 F/2.8 (Tamron 28-75 F/2.8 G2) or the 24-105 F/4 as a daily lens on the Sony on travel? I´m not sure what is better. F/4 with OSS and a little bit more range or 2.8 for better lowlight. Maybe you can help me out. Also got a Canon M50 as an small and light alternative.
I have Sony 24-105mm f4 G and 20mm f1.8 G lenses. 24-105 stays on my Sony a7iv Camera 99% of the time. In low light situations, I use 20mm and 20mm APSC (making it 30mm). These 2 lenses cover all my needs. I want to buy a7iii as my second camera so that I don’t have to change lenses and can use as a backup too.
Do you use Iridient or a similar tool to convert the fuji RAF's to DNG's? Or do you just bring the RAF files straight into Lightroom? I hate having the extra step of converting the files and I can't really tell the difference in LR converting them vs. not converting them so I stopped using it...
You need to look for certain kinds of detail to evaluate Iridient or any other software. When I did film scanning, I tested almost every software. C1 is still the cleanest and renders the highest detail. LR is fine, but generally softer and mushier. There's also chances of colour bleed between edges e.g. rooftops and blue skies. LR and Iridient also have problems rendering diagonal lines properly. LR is particularly bad at foliage if I remember. Anyway, too much fussing around and I switch to a Sony A7C.

Consider the Sigma 18-55mm f2.8, small and awesome for travel!

Enjoyed that, useful to see what you packed as I think about minimising my kit as well
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks homie!

Really want to see xe4 with 35mm f2
Your vd are awesome❤
I def feel sometimes that my A74 is too big to lug around. I have a a5100 with the kit lens that I carry for backup when I want a SUPER light set up.
It is a big carry, but it's miles ahead as a tool for hybrid shooters!

The DJI wireless Mic system is something Rode needs to emulate. It's the perfect minimal on the go setup.
Great recommendation! I'll check it out :)
We use the same A7IV lens combo. Awesome!

I’d sell all the Sony kit and replace with XH2S or XH2, Tamron 17-70 and 33 1.4.. lose the weight and go with one system.
Unfortunately, the Sony is too important to my professional side of work Rob! Moving forward I might consider the XH2S for travels for sure :)
