People are always surprised at how good this soap is, because it looks more commercial than artisan. The puck size is weird, but you can also use it like a shave stick...rub on your face and lather! I agree, this is good soap, with a superior post shave over other commercial offerings. So glad to see you enjoying it!!
Again Jack, thanks so much for this series!! Used my Haslinger sandalholz (Deutsch for sandalwood lol). My SS Karve was my vehicle and the Haslinger was the descending alp mountain road in Salzburg or Tirol. Driving Nirvana! Cheers mate!
Bloody great point about palm oil, Jack. Over here in Thailand and in neighbouring countries, the palm oil industry has had hugely detrimental effects on the local agriculture and ecological balance. Great shave again, mate.
I have tried the Haslinger sandalwood and coconut. I was very impressed with the performance, lathers like a champ and is really slick. The scent is very faint however, which is why I haven't used them much. Didn't know they reformulated, my pucks are from the tallow times though. I also own the sage version from Haslinger which is still in the original packaging.
Thanks for your work. If I may offer a suggestion, Cold River Soap Works makes a similar product named Schapemelk. I find it to be in the same house as Haslinger with a tad bit better post shave feel. The price is also a great bargain. Cheers!
Hey Jack, what's your take on the firmness of the Kaizen base? I get some people saying it's basically a croap and others saying it's as dense as their previous base.
Is that an Imperial Russia strop back there? If so, how do you like it? It is the one I have for my start in the straight razor shaving world. I wish it was 3" across
@@TheVirtualGroomroom I just picked up Razor Emporium's horsehide 3" width. Very new to straight shaving. Like a week of use with straight. I feel I needed that 3" width to help out with my lack of technique. Would you have gone with the latigo instead?
I’m enjoying this series, Jack. I like how you’re including a bit of the history as well. Really well done
Thank you, Matteo. I'm trying to bring something unique!

It's great, certainly one of the better commercially available products.
I appreciate your emphasis on sustainable ingredients.
Thanks for the support man!
Very nice video. I loved hearing the history of the company and soap.
Very nice. I wasn't really aware of the issue around palm oil. Next up you take on badger hair:)

Haslinger is awesome! I really enjoyed using this.
Excellent shave Jack. That lather looked quite impressive
The history and background in this new series is awesome. I've always wondered about how they came about.
Bloody great point about palm oil, Jack.

Great shave again, mate.
Cheers Lee. Thanks for the support
Jack, I'm really enjoying this series!
Thanks William, I appreciate it
Your first 2 timeless Tuesdays are soaps I have yet to try.
Even more reason to do so! Haha
Amazing video Jack! I hope you are doing well.
Samuel Thank you Samuel. You too sir.

J. S. Does the sage one have tallow?
@@TheVirtualGroomroom it does indeed. Has been sitting around for about 3 1/2 years now
Enjoying the basic B Tuesday’s bro

I’ve never used Cold River Soap Works. I’ll have a look!

CRSW make awesome soap. Very underrated as they only sell direct, no retailers.
I have 3 from their SELECT line. Great stuff!
You made a Tuesday series as well 😆😆
Hey Jack, what's your take on the firmness of the Kaizen base? I get some people saying it's basically a croap and others saying it's as dense as their previous base.
Duhizy It’s certainly not a croap in my opinion. It’s a little softer than mid firm
Most people don't know this but there's also a new Sensitive version that doesn't have any Palm oil.
Well done. am curious about Haslinger now. Given the formula, does is remind you of Mitchell’s Wool Fat?
The Old formula certainly does, which is the one I used in the videos. The old one, not white as good
👍
@@TheVirtualGroomroom I'm confused by your statement...did you mean to say that the old Haslinger isn't quite as good as the new Haslinger?
How do you like the Wizamet blades? They're Iridium like Polsilver. No longer made
I’m really impressed with the Wizamets, very good.

The draw is actually really nice. I use it as a back up to the Kanayama you see on the door.

You should review some of the less talked about English soaps like Arran, Edwin Jagger, Bath House.
Can't wait to get that razor tell chris to pull his finger out and send it🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
I’ll let me know 😂
@@TheVirtualGroomroom had a message from dhl it's been picked up must be your influence jack👍👍👍
I believe all palm oil imported into the EU must be RSPO certified to prove sustainability.
Ahhh EU... stupid Britain 😂
Well.....yeah
Good video Jack! I feel like that soap must of been well ahead of it’s time. Solid attempt at pronounciation as well 😉
Thanks bro, I try...
"If you're a type of person who wants to have one soap" who are those people??! :)
Razorock also uses Palm Oil. Artisans should stop uses palm oil on there soap recipes.
I agree, Fernando.
I stopped buying Razorock because they contain palm oil. Hope they stop using it.
