She’ll come clean and tell Kenny that she costed him the Spot to be part of Miyagi do for Sekai Takai. Maybe she’ll talk with Tory and try convince her to come back to Miyagi do
She gets injured due to not being ready/prepared for the Sekai Taikai. Both physically and mentally. She didn't rightfully earn her spot. After being injured, Kenny replaces her or at the least, substitutes. I believe Chozen will have Kenny brought to the Sekai Taikai. If you remember, he presented himself as a Miyagi-Do sensei when the dojos were being interviewed by the Sekai Taikai representatives. What do you think about this?
Really liked Devon in season 5, how she understood that she was not on Sam's level but still went all out and fought with honor. Really didn't like Devon in season 6 as she did have reverse character development and, as you said before, became someone who will stoop to lows to achieve victory.
I don't wanna sound like a Devon "glazer" but I feel like Johnny's pressure low-key played a part in her cheating all simply because she didn't wanna disappoint him!! That's just my opinion though and while i know Anthony had nothing to do with it i still feel like low-key he was in on it!!
She will likely come clean and admit she was cheating, but she’s definitely not ready for this, she’s not as experienced or skilled as the others should be and she’s not as ruthless since this tournament is going to be tough and dangerous. Good video Mr Warrior
@@StryfetheWarrior I certainly hope so too since it's heavily implied that Devon may have unintentionally reignited their rivalry. Tensions between them were amiable even when Kenny playfully teased him every now and then but now that Kenny believes that Anthony put laxatives in his drink, he might blame him for humiliating in front of the Miyagi-Do's and ruining his chances in going to the Sekai Taikai.
I get why people are upset at Devon but it’s important to understand that she hasn’t learned the same lessons that Robby, Hawk, Miguel, Tory, Sam, and others had to learn. All of the other student fighters did something bad because of karate and had to redeem themselves or become better people. Devon is a very competitive person and the scale and grandeur of the Sekai Taikai drove her to go against her morals. She’ll have to learn honor.
True but like Johnny tried to teach Miguel, Hawk, Tory and the other Cobra Kai students in season 2, there's a difference between showing no mercy and showing no honor. While Johnny mainly focused on teaching her to hone her aggression, it seems odd that Johnny never taught her what he himself taught Miguel and the Eagle-Fangs. What's especially jarring is that if Johnny didn't want to repeat the same mistakes he made when he taught Miguel to show no mercy, then why repeat that same mistake with Devon (whom is undoubtedly much more younger and much more susceptible to the no mercy lessons)?
This is a good point @observeman24 but in "Minefields," Johnny made it clear by saying "Today's lesson is about cheating. At Eagle Fang Karate, we don't believe in fighting dirty." While the lesson was more about how Cobra Kai would cheat, it would still apply that cheating in any form would've been a no-no for Devon. Not to mention, Devon was willing to call Tory a cheater in "Downward Spiral" (S5E4) and complain about the ref favoring Tory in "Ouroboros" (S5E6), but she was ok with messing with someone's water. The writers flubbed her character, unfortunately.
@@StryfetheWarrior Great points as always Mr. Warrior. Yeah I think due to Devon's age and inexperience, she didn't take Johnny's lessons to heart as he hoped it would.
My perception of Devon is that she is smart and seeks validation. She always knew deep down that Cobra kai was not good for her so it was no problem for her to take Myagido's side. I think she does her utmost to always be the best and is used to always receiving praise. So when she doesn't get it, she becomes insecure and hungry for praise
I agree with you say Stryfe. For the reason why Devon cheated I go with jealousy of Kenny rather than an actual dislike. A jealousy overall, as she was pissed when Mike called Tory & Sam fierce. She will most likely come clean about using a dirty trick. Otherwise- Why would Kenny be there? He is probably replacing her this is my assumption. Devon is having her eyes on the prize just like Master Kim said. As a martial artist myself I know how important the way is, way more than some tournament however big it is. Devon should learn that. This franchise I love for a reason it's fantastically smart and beautiful. Speaking of Master Kim he looks similar to Pai-Mei from Kill Bill, which is another brutal master.
@@StryfetheWarriorYeah it seems odd that they changed her character from a proud, slightly overconfident karate fighter whom doesn't seek validation from anyone, not even Johnny, (which is understandable since they barely know each other) to someone who wants approval from her peers/equals even if it means cheating and lying to get it.
Devon 100% cheated. While Devon technically didn't break any spoken rules, where is the line exactly? She drugged her opponent *before* the exercise, forcing him to forfeit, which the show itself portrays as immoral and foul play (she hides the container from Johnny). This is like tying your opponent's sneakers together before a race. Devon should also be held accountable for letting Anthony take the fall. He and Kenny have history and the latter is very violent. Even if it wasn't cheating technically, it's still cheating in *spirit*... I mean, giving an unsuspecting competitor laxities isn't exactly a rite of passage for a martial arts tournament, and just because Johnny/Mike didn't explicitly say "don't drug Kenny", that doesn't mean it wasn't an obvious violation. I can't blame the fans for saying that she shouldn't be in the Sekai Taikai, and I think people are right to be concerned that this current roster is not their strongest too. To conclude, Devon cheated. Also, hi, Stryfe. Giant Cobra Kai nerd here.
Rather than wanting people to tell her she’s a great fighter, Devon should know that she is and have the attitude that anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong. In Season 4 (and 5 for the most part) she had that attitude.
Once Kenny is allowed to join Miyagi Do at The Sekai Taikai when Devon fully confesses her crime of spiking his water bottle with laxatives, there will be no point in continuing any further this fan service karate rivalry between him and Anthony in Part 3 after the latter's innocence is established. The series writers have placed themselves in another conundrum like they did in season 5.
The writing on this show has been on a downfall ever since the Season 5 episode 6. Its feeling a bit of game of thrones now with episodes feeling rushed and character development being wasted.. Especially with Daniel & Johnny. They built those characters up and their relationship with each other for 3-4 seasons just for it to be wasted in 1-2 episodes
Hot take: I think Kenny stole the chicken from Devon. He takes the one she was chasing. THATS why she was upset. If you pay attention the chicken Kenny grabs ISNT the one HE was chasing. Devon was chasing her chicken towards him so he takes hers and makes it look like his. (Also, If you look closely when the camera changes- the chicken Kenny was chasing moves to the left of the one Devon was chasing.) Which in her mind COULD make it justified to her. He stole from her, she sabotaged him.
What happened to Devon and her character is a result of the creators needing to “regress” certain character arcs in order to stretch the show and create drama. Devon is not a bad person at all, it just so happens that the creators chose her to regress for the sake of the story. If not the core 4 characters (Miguel, Hawk, Sam, Robby) then other people (they did it to Tory as well).
This season (so far) is the first time I’ve had issues with Johnny. His micromanaging of Mike Barnes in favor of Devon was cringe. My bold prediction she’s going to be one of the first to be eliminated
If you want to know what I think about this, Devon Lee should not be the one to go. I can tell that she’s going to lose ass psych Tai Termine, but I do know about that. She does not have a prayer for this and the reasons that she is very much New and has no experience with karate West soever that is the only reason why she should not be want to go. I would say we had to be Eli. Moskowitz
"Face" turn --You got that from WWE didn't you? Devon is unbalanced. We don't know much about her...But what we do know is that her mom passed away, and like Tory, the tough exterior is overcompensation. Everyone handles grief in his/her own way, or doesn't handle it at all. Considering what the dojo gave her...stability, skill and friends, she is feeling something different. Could've taken the pain away. With the tournament coming up and an opportunity to receive more, it's something that could help her climb the ladder. Devon's dad is around, but he wasn't at the tournament so Johnny, with his praise, is filling the void and she wants to keep receiving that. It's clear that she sees Johnny as a father figure and she isn't happy with her home life. I agree on Devon's transition...the back and forth with Cobra Kai, but at the end of the day, she is a kid. At the same time, yes the writers messed up. Mind you, I'm still upset over the flow of the story for part one.
She’s decent, but Kenny is better than her. I also don’t think Dimitri is skilled enough to go, but he’s very intelligent and no doubt his strategic mind will be NECESSARY to win the Taikai. Devon doesn’t have ANY other redeeming qualities to make her necessary to be there. She’s hot, and I like her character, but she’s definitely not ready. That being said I’m excited to be proven wrong.
I thought her storyline this season was really annoying and unnecessary. More than half the myagi do students didn’t make it into the sekkai competition and they didn’t complain. Devon was at the bottom of barnes list and she chose to complain about it and cheat her way to the top.
The writers seem to put little thought into her character. I thought Devon’s actions in 6 pt. 1 would make more sense if they made some changes in 5. For starters she has some interactions with Kenny and Anthony. She becomes friendly with Anthony at the water park. She then sees Kenny picking on Anthony and instantly dislikes him. Then when she joins cobra kai she gives Kenny some dirty looks when he’s not looking. When Kenny beats Hawk with the Silver Bullet she’s shocked and horrified like Tory instead of laughing with the others. And when the referee cheats for her she gets suspicious and tries to bring this up with Silver and Kim, but they strongly advise her that “the ref’s doing his job” implying their cheating. Devon is a little shocked but powers thru and acts like she’s on their side, losing to Sam just like in the original story. When Devon apologizes to Sensai Kim for losing and Kim blames Devon, she gives Kim a dirty look behind her back solidifying her disillusionment. When Robby shows up to face silver and save the other kids, Devon acts like she’s corrupted but it’s clear to the audience she’s lying. Later when Kim and Silver make Tory hit stone Devon hides behind a wall and sees the whole thing. She then meets with Miguel and Robby and tells them everything and the reason she joined Cobra Kai was cuz she wasn’t gonna let them push her around, but stayed to take them down from the inside. When Miyagi-Fang breaks into Cobra Kai she’s there to help. We also get more interaction between her and Anthony. Cobra Kai shows up and Tory and Devon are revealed to be traitors. Devon mocks Kenny to his face on how he never expected her betrayal, getting under his skin. Maybe during the fight Kenny tries to attack Anthony only to be intercepted by Devon and they both engage in a brief 2v1 with Kenny before being separated in the battle In 6 we could see that she’s unimpressed with Kenny joining Miyagi-do making clear she still doesn’t like him. Tho this is more one sided as his beef was never really towards her. So when she cheats he doesn’t suspect her
You're idea actually sounds better than what we actually got. Had the writers gone through that route instead of the one we got it would make sense as to why Devon dislikes Kenny and why she sabotaged Kenny's chances to go to the Sekai Taikai (as she feels he cheated his way) and plays dirty to get back at Kenny. Granted, not sure if that's any better but it would better explain why she sabotaged his chances at going to the Sekai Taikai.
What's going to happen to Devon in Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2?
11/15/2024 - Devon confirms she cheated in S6E7 and S6E8.
