    The best optics for the price for my 22lr Tikka T1x.

    If your looking for a FFP scope for under 500 with a bullet proof warranty, turrets that track with the scopes double the price,glass thats surprisingly good and a zero stop that works you just can't beat the element helix for there entry level scope.if theres an issue with them contact there customer support and if needed they will repair or send on a new 1 no questions asked.works well on airguns,rimfire and centrefire.The only thing missing is illumination,something that I've never once used on any other optic.If these were out 5 years ago they would probably cost double they do now with there quality turrets and zero stop.

      The Helix just couldn't handle the eye box and the glass quality simply wasn't good enough for my use for long distance and neither was their more expensive Titan. It may be good enough for close range shooting under 50 yards for a 22 though.

    • @commonsense5709
      @commonsense5709 Рік тому

      The Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 I bought for $450 blows away the Titan and Helix in both glass clarity and tracking with 85moa range adjustment in only a 30mm tube. They are now in the $500 price point but really worth it. It's a personal preference about my glass quality and eye box requirements.

    Another totally honest fantastic review. Appreciate you calling in as a normal customer scenario. All these Chinese BS warranty scope brands sounds like they don't care about the paying customers to give any excuses to give a hard time. There's other companies out there who will give you grief as well even when purchased and received dead on arrival such as WestHunter they are the worst and nobody should buy their brand period. Careful what dealers you buy from too. Some will screw you over through eBay and Amazon saying they aren't authorized sellers for their brand even when they have a lifetime warranty. Some sellers who are authorized sellers for the brand through eBay and Amazon are fine.

      What I do notice about this Continental line of Vector Optics is they aren't well known and barely any reviews out there and you don't hear people raving about them and I've seen them on sale for close to half price off retail. This 3-18x50 I've seen at $369 and recently the 4-24x 34mm $429 and 5-30x56 34mm at $449 the 30mm 5-30x $299 and $279 depending on 2 model options one was a tactical designation. Still very few customer reviews makes you really wonder and even how often they sell for half price is why I didn't buy one even for 50% off and free shipping. I think people are nuts who are actually paying what they sell for at fill price on Amazon.

      What I will say about Vector Optics is that I have been dealing with them for a while now and they do seem very receptive to feedback, so I have to give them credit on that. I told them about everything that happened and they informed me that they were very accepting of the feedback and thanked me for being honest about everything. I do not know if they changed anything as I have not had to deal with their customer service again, at least as of yet. I do have some more of their products that I am testing, so we will see. I really don't think that these guys are out to screw us over, I think that was more of just a business model because their are a lot of US manufacturers in all industries to include firearms that have a very similar practice as well. I do think that your foreign companies are capable of making really good products as long as we hold them to that standard. look at Leupold, Burris, (some of) Vortex, Athlon, etc. even companies that started out making meh products are making phenomenal stuff now, for example Holosun. Over the years I have started to care less about where things are made and caring more about the quality of the product and and the quality of their customer service.

      @@TheThinkingShooter They are like Vortex, do not own their mnf facility so they are bound to the OEM they bought scopes from. What they are lacking is knowledge of what scope company should be like when the sell stuff worldwide, using Chinese business logic is not working, unfortunately.

      This isn't the only lifetime warranty brand that has such iffy practices some others are Monstrom Barska BSA Mueller Discovery Bushnell just to name a few there's many more and worst of all WestHunter zero warranty even if your brand new scope is defective right out of the box you just got ripped off if you pass the eBay and Amazon 30 day return window. Always buy only from legit and authorized sellers and keep your purchase receipts in a safe place unless buying scopes from better more trusted brands who already have years and years of proven no questions asked lifetime warranties.

    • @OC_Lofton
      @OC_Lofton Рік тому +1

      @@commonsense5709 Monstrum must have recently extended their warranty beyond 2 years. I wasn't aware they were offering Lifetime.

    • @commonsense5709
      @commonsense5709 Рік тому +1

      Monstrom now states they have a lifetime warranty but good luck with that since they wouldn't even honor their 2 year warranty in the past even with a receipt well within their warranty period when their scopes failed to track or their turrets unscrewed completely out of their housing.

    • @commonsense5709
      @commonsense5709 Рік тому +1

      The lifetime warranty is only for new condition products purchased direct from Monstrom with a valid invoice number. According to their website so I guess their brand of scopes purchased from Amazon and eBay won't have any warranty. I knew there was a catch. You HAVE TO buy it directly from Monstrom and have a valid order number already in their own system.

    did you test the 2nd scope?

  • @brandonfrostick5430
    @brandonfrostick5430 2 роки тому +3

    How are the rings that came with the scope? Would you actually use them or are they just extra junk you will never use like half the stuff that come with Springfield XDs? I know you had problems with the zero stops, but isn't this the only one so far that has them in these tests for around the same price as the others? If they fix the issue you were having and the cold temp problems, it sounds like a huge bang for your buck

    • @TheThinkingShooter
      @TheThinkingShooter  2 роки тому +1

      The rings actually seem really nice. I mounted it on one of my rifles with the rings that came with it. This is the only one that has had any issues so far, at least to the point of rendering the scope unusable. Yes, assuming these issues got fixed, it really is a nice scope. Also, this is just one example and may just be an issue with the one I received. Its possible that this isn't an issue at all on others scopes or at least very uncommon.

I was impressed by the Vector optics Marksman $250. Scope I got for $150. So a $850. Continental for $650. Should be pretty good.

    Great review man! I have to agree that was a really nice package... I like how you tested the feel of the coating at 4:18....I'm glad for the most part you didn't have any issues when you pulled it out.....
    Could you clarify one thing for me? If I zero as normal with the non zero stop turrets, could I then swap for the zero stop turrets and have it operate as normal or do I pretty much need to pick one and stick with it?

    • @TheThinkingShooter
      @TheThinkingShooter  2 роки тому +2

      You can zero with the non zs turret and then put the zs turret on. Thats what I ended up doing with it once I got done with the box testing. I am glad you are enjoying the content and thank you for the kind words

  • @antongustafsson717

    Great review! You definitely pushed it to it's limits😆
    I have also tried using their T-VIP warranty (Taurus 3-18×50 with malfunctioning parallax adjustment) and there was definitely a lot of questions asked before they sent me a new one😅 Unfortunately the new scope had sloppier turrets and more bleedthrough on the illumination so that was kind of a big letdown.
    How would you compare the glass quality on the Continental against Arken SH4 or Athlon Helos Gen 2(if you have looked through one of those of course)?

    • @antongustafsson717
      @antongustafsson717 2 роки тому +4

      But I should also say that they sent me a new scope before I had sent the old one back to them so that was surprisingly generous by them!
      I contacted them again regarding the new scope and the sloppy turrets/illumination issues but they didn't see it as any form of malfunctioning and were only interested in partially refunding me. By that point I was so tired of discussing with them so I just asked them if it was okey if I keep the old scope and we omit the refund.
      They thought that was a reasonable solution so now I have one scope with really nice, tactile and audible turrets but with a parallax adjustment that won't get me past 100 yards on 18 X zoom without the picture being blurry. The other one is perfectly fine optical-wise but the turrets are mushy and there's a lot of play in them. Really dissapointed in their Quality Control!

      I would say the glass on it is actually very nice, but I think the glass on the two you mentioned previously are better. I actually have a video up on the Arken SH4 Gen II. If you haven't done so already, make sure you check it out... ua-cam.com/video/hOC93-scuJE/v-deo.html

      The Arken SH4 4-16x50 currently direct at their new lowered $289 sale price at Arken is decent see his other review. Don't buy their $299 SH4 6-24x since the cheap low quality "HD" glass they use simply isn't good enough for 24x magnification. The higher model EP5 for $425 last months 25% off sale price glass is fine up to 20x and not that great past that. The Athlon Helos has better clicky turrets has almost as nice glass as the Taurus and the reticle is really fat more for a hunting than target shooting. If you want better glass then the Midas and Ares lines have better glass. The best 3-18x50 scope out there in the sub $1000 class is the Ares ETR and the best Chinese scope model money can buy as well as their 4.5-30x56. If you prefer good quality and not made in China then the Meopta Optica 6 are almost as good as the Chinese Atglon Ares ETRs.

      They sent you a replacement before you sent yours back because they would have thrown your scope away anyway. Interesting to know they gave you both scopes so two for the price of one. They do sell for half price and this shows how much money they can still make even at half price through a middleman dealer. Did you give them your proof of purchase receipt?

    I think it was not the freezing test that killed the scope but the submerging in water. Once the water went inside its game over. I guess if you are not planning to swim with the scope it should be fine. Still this should not happen.
