    I'd use button loops and barrel-shaped wooden buttons like on a duffel coat. Or maybe in a winter white. Keep on with the bias binding on all the edges. And that's it. It's beautiful.

    Hi Luz,the jacket is beautiful. I wish that it would fit you. I think that it would look great on you. Maybe next time you make a quilted jacket use a cotton or bamboo quilt batting. The cotton and bamboo batting is thin and more drapey. I wish that the jacket would fit me but I am afraid that it would be way too small on me.😂❤

    I enjoy following your sewing journey. Your patchworked jacket is beautiful. I've made quilted jackets before, and the lesson I learned was that the fabric 'shrinks' when you quilt it. So you need to allow an inch or so extra all round, then quilt it. Then, you can cut the pattern the intended size.

      Thank you lovely, well I think you are very wise and I have decently learned a lesson! ❤️😁

    Sometimes if you wash it it'll it'll soften it up and make it more flexible have your daughter try it on and see how she feels about the stiffness

    It’s beautiful, I usually just leave it for a day or two and just start something else. Eventually the idea will come through! It takes time! It will come to you!

    It’s awesome! Having made a patchwork jacket of all quilting cotton patchwork, I would say what you used for a batting might make the difference ( for future reference). A featherweight interfacing might be all you would need then it might be less stiff. They do tend to be a little stiff though, by the nature of all those seamed pieces and denim is somewhat stiff anyway. I still think it is terrific.

    Gentle suggestion. Take the sleeves off and keep it as a vest… that would reduce bulk…. Or put in sleeves without quilting…
    It is a lovely piece of fabric…. Very nice. I am once again inspired.

      Thank you lovely, that is not a bad suggestion, I think I like it as a jacket so maybe removing the quilting from the sleeves is best. thank you 😁❤️

    Oh, how I wish that you could still make it your own size, it is so gorgeous! I would keep the longer length and fold over the front piece, but either way it is so beautiful. And maybe the pink could be shown outside in a future project? It looks so good against the blue and white:)

    I love the textile. I love how firm the jacket looks too. How about no bias tape, just fold under the edges, and use loop and toggle to close the front, a bit like a duffle coat, but more fancy. Keep the length as it is. Or just do your own thing, I'm sure the textile will make it look good whatever you do.

      Thank you lovely! what a nice comment! I like the idea of the bias tape! this is why I ask because I know you guys will deliver! 😁❤️

    Another beautiful textile! I don’t have any suggestions for you though. I thrifted a lap quilt recently to make into a jacket, but now I’m thinking it doesn’t have the right batting in it. It’s only tied and not quilted, so I think I will tear it apart and change the batting. I’m guessing from the feel, that it is just fiberfill.

    I was thinking it might soften with a good wash. I don’t know what options you have given the quilted layer, but the quilting may soften.

    • @luzUpcycles
      @luzUpcycles  22 години тому

      Thank you lovely, I will definitely will try to soften it in the wash but I need to investigate the quilting options a bit more. 😁❤️

    Insulated jackets are bulky. Just a fact. I like the length it is, but the cropped length is very nice as well. Get someone to try it on & wear it and give you feedback.

    • @annakasper6141
      @annakasper6141 3 дні тому +2

      Another option in a future similar garment might be to use a flannel as an insulating layer. Denim is fairly warm, so maybe flannel interlining would be enough.

    Ask someone smaller to model your jacket as it is. They can tell you if it is too heavy (stiff) or not. You may have to take it apart. Most denim jackets are not quilted or lined.

    Steam it, rather than iron and that might soften it - steaming relaxes fibres
