When I heard cd koi nodre and heard one God and jewish songs I had to have the cd. I am Roman Catholic , but these songs and the way JM sings them brings ones to tears . Beautiful Cd well worth owning .
What a sweet guy. So humble and real. The greatest male vocalist ever. I just found an album "I'll Search My Heart" and I thought I had everything he ever did, (even the 24K gold plated guitar CD). It has some real gems on it. So happy I found it on ITunes. That voice has given the world so much pleasure and joy, surely it is a gift from God. Thank you Johnny Mathis and God bless you.
I am one of the multitudes of folks that grew up with Johnny Mathis! I cannot even think of a time when he wasn't in my life, musically! I was still in Elementary School when he literally BURST onto the scene and I've spent a lifetime listening to him and collecting his music. One of the many wonderful things about Johnny is that he never ever went "Hollywood" on us! His life away from the microphone was private and remains so today. He is just a lovely and shy man who has the voice of an angel. Anyone who knows his music gets that funny little tingle up their spine when the beginning strains of anything he ever recorded comes on! They are special songs, special moments and one of the things Johnny actually schooled us in, were the lovely musical introductions to these fabulous songs. No one really sang them with any regularity at all but he always did the intro when there was one to sing! It gave us a more intimate look and feel into the music itself! To say that Johnny is Wonderful, Wonderful is not nearly enough to sing his praises for his music truly encapsulates The Best Of Everything. It's a Small World and Johnny has made it a more intimate world as well. He also has That Certain Smile and way about him that captivates his audiences so Tenderly. Chances Are there are accolades out there for his very unique and special talents but perhaps, It's Not For Me To Say, when all is said and done. I only know that I get Misty eyed, All The Time, when I hear his music and that, I know, will last until The Twelfth Of Never. He's always been My Funny Valentine and if he ever wants to, he can Call Me any time, any day because I'll Be Easy To Find! Until then, I can but say, I'll Be Seeing You, Johnny...and remain, Faithfully yours...from a true fan!
Welcome in the days of records I collected approximately 70 of his albums many of which have been replaced by C d's now. I had the opportunity to see him in concert on many occasions and thoroughly enjoyed everyone.. Somewhere at universities others at the Hollywood bowl the Fisher theater and Detroit but always terrific. You provided many beautiful hours of entertainment and was also special for all of the "Johnny Mathis party's" that I had in high school. Thank you Johnny for sharing your mellifluous tones and for giving so many of us so much joy and pleasure.
I feel sorry for the youth who do not know about this amazing man. They will never know what they missed. Surely the greatest non classical singer there has ever been.
O pior é que sabe! Eu quando era criança, só gostava de brincar e ir para escola. Eu não entendia de música e nem tinha cantor que eu gostasse! Mas aos 8 anos de idade escutei a voz dele e amei.
I agree with everyone Johnny Is the best and I love him. I only wish that going to church was more than just the music to him. I want to see him someday in heaven.
I’ve been enjoyed listening to this interview. I know the recordings in Hebrew that he’s talking about, I have these recordings. I would just love for Johnny to sing Jerusalem of Gold in Hebrew. Just a selfish wish of mine. Love you Johnny.❤
A wonderful interview where Mathis discusses his association with religious music (including his parents A.M.E. Zion church) and his association with Jewish music. A wonderful facet of Mathis' repertoire that has been neglected.
He was talking about the holy roller churches he went to as a small child.he said that these churches scared him.i wonder if he is talking about gilmer tx in east Texas where he was born and lived until he was three or four when his family moved to California.
A voz de veludo, celestial, nunca tive a felicidade de estar ao vivo num show dele, mas ainda hei de estar, se Deus quiser, obrigado johnny, volte ao Brasil, please.
been there loved the area … love that ...a sponge … we all are drawn to the exotic that we never see us as … we fall into what we are not … adore what we hope to be … hypnotized … by something different … never wrong …. the love we find …
I have been an admirer for many years... have found you again through the internet and now have I Pod full of your lovely voice ..... have seen you live twice, here in U.K. , many years ago.... I think John studied opera as well as other types of music. He can sing almost anything if not everything.❤

This must be at his home...theres a pic of himself or his dad in white in the background.
It is a painting of one of his first album covers. Don't know the artist name but he did several of his covers.
JUST FINE....JACK ENGLISH
