Thankful for you. As soon as life gets too fast and busy I always find myself clicking on one of your videos to receive the helpful reminder to slow down. Much love from the Carolinas!!
Happy Birthday, Sir. Many years! Hope all is well and you had a beautiful Christmas. You inspire this young man to read more and I have also discovered many books and poems from you. Thank you!
I always find it odd to be enjoy these lost facets of life on one of the many platforms that’s replaced them. You strengthen my resolve in studying English and remind me why I loved it so much in the first place. Happy birthday Mr. Guite.
Mr. Guite, once again you have added to the pleasure of a new day. A volume of Milton or Tennyson I do not posses, however I will be visiting old book shops looking for a well worn volume of each. Enjoy the new years by reading those words you so enjoy. Ron
I was gifted a George MacDonald collection and finished “Back of the North Wind” last night! That story is fit for a winter’s night, a cozy fireplace, and a dram. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!
I love the mention of and literary correspondence to The Waterboys. Mike Scott's sensibility, seeing the continuity and congruity of the pagan and Christian resonates strongly with me.
10.50 "And with your ninefold harmony, make up full consort to the angelic symphony" (reading Milton). Such a lovely reader. A jewel in the crown of UA-cam is this channel
A belated happy birthday to you. I have a re-print of a hiking guide from 1926 which recommends a would be walkers take a pocket size book of their preferred poetry or play providing plenty to chew on without excess burden. A Shropshire Lad was, at Housman's persnickety demands, published in deliberately cheap editions that could be fitted into a waistcoat pocket. I suspect this helped his longevity of sales. I wonder if the publishers of your set, though about 40 years earlier, were aiming at a similar market.
happy belated birthday, rev. Malcolm! Your videos have been a blessing to me and to many, cheers to your good health and many more spells in the library. Co-là breith sona dhut!
Happy late Birthday Mr. Guite! 🙏🏻👍 P.S. I bought your collection of poems for Advent and I'm probably going to do the same for Lent. Thank you and God Bless
Once again, thank you, o star-led wizard! It was especially wonderful to hear the verse from 'The Return of Pan' - one of my favourite tracks of The Waterboys. Mike Scott has kept the old piper alive through his music. As you do through your words.
Your wife has a fine sensibility for selecting gifts - please convey the message that my birthday comes up in January - I should like her to try her level best - Horace, Hesiod, or some other poet? I'd appreciate her effort! (But seriously - Happy Birthday to you!)...
it chokes me to say this but a world of Poets would be a world of Peace and Calm Malcolm, all I can say is thank you for inviting us into your private world, time is but smoke thru a key hole.
Happy Belated Birthday, Padre. I toast the happy occasion with cup of English tea and a pipefull of Old Dublin. A blessed Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!
Happy Birthday! In Glasgow, Scotland you will find a used book store next to a vegan cafe, and a river, I am sure you would feel at home, the books are almost posed.
Wow!! What a wonderful birthday present -- I can't help wondering where Maggie found those! We are halfway through Christmastide when I found time to watch this - it's New Year's Eve still here for a couple more hours... (where you are it is already 2025). I am so grateful to have this little corner to stop by after a difficult day -- thank you for letting us come by for visits, Malcolm... Happy New Year. ❤
Lovely! I am In complete agreement with you that I wish reading poetry was the common practice of us all. There is something comforting in imagining the fairy world coming to worship the newborn Jesus - indeed the whole world united to bring Him glory as one day all of the created universe will be.
Merlin, Gandalf, and Dumbledore as the Three Wise Men?!?! Now you've got me thinking! So what did they do next? Thank you as always for providing such inspiring readings. Happy New Year!
Happy Birthday! Speaking of books, have you ever read anything by Gene Wolfe? He's a bit of a newer author but he's very Catholic in his themes, albeit a bit more graphic in his storytelling. The Wizard Knight is a good one which rings of old beauty despite having been published in the early 2000s.
Very interesting set of books sir! I had a pipe question, if it is not too much trouble. Do you have a preference for a bent stem or straight? I have found the bent stems more comfortable to smoke and hold in hand.
There seem to be two species of poetry, the style with regular rhythm and rhyme, and modern freeish verse. The regular stuff was broadly popular, and people of all classes enjoyed it naturally. The freer and more mdern stuff tended to catch the attention of more supposedly sophisticated people. There is a place for both styles and they don't need to compete, but the regular stuff shouldn't be deprecated. And, of course, Malcolm is doing some reviving of the regular in his own poetry.
Hi Alexandra. I’m not sure that it did, unless it was the copy of Judith McQuoid’s Giant, but I think she may have sent that herself. What book was it? M
Thankful for you. As soon as life gets too fast and busy I always find myself clicking on one of your videos to receive the helpful reminder to slow down. Much love from the Carolinas!!
Time is a precious thing in exceedingly short supply. I am grateful that you choose to share your time with us, Malcolm.
Currently enjoying a bowl of Peterson Sherlock Holmes as I listen to you read Milton.
I love everyone who loves books.
Even the Globglogabgalab?
Happy Birthday, Sir. Many years! Hope all is well and you had a beautiful Christmas. You inspire this young man to read more and I have also discovered many books and poems from you. Thank you!
Thank you kindly!
5.20 "That he our deadly forfeit should release
And with his father work us a perpetual peace" - quoting Milton. A lovely reading as ever
Like a stone skipping across the water, we stare in awe-from the sacred to the profane, Malcolm shepherds us through the darkness.
To be holding a collection of books that old is an honor. But reading them is bliss ❤❤❤❤
So satisfying having a complete set of books. What a kingly gift!
Happy Birthday Mr. Guite, you truly make the world a better place

Happy birthday and merry Christmas, I recently got the penguin book of dragons and I’m excited to dive into it

Thanks so much
Aha. Watching the Wind in the Willows video, I was wondering what that little boxed set was.
Today is my birthday, so really enjoying this! Cheers!
Happy New Year Malcolm .
Great Content!! Happy New Year!
Happy birthday :]
Your wife knows you well. You made me laugh talking about the 3 wizards. I bet they really were like that. Men of faith and brilliant minds.
It’s like if a warm hug became a man and decided to teach us Lit.
Happen Belated Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 My Birthday is also in November!!
That’s kind of you to offer but I’ve already received so many books I can’t keep up. So I can’t manage any more. But thanks for the thought
Watch the "Wordsworth" "Twilight Zone". Fabulous! 😊😊😊
Happy New Year Malcolm. What did you think of Stepheh Knox's poetry book?
Very interesting set of books sir! I had a pipe question, if it is not too much trouble. Do you have a preference for a bent stem or straight? I have found the bent stems more comfortable to smoke and hold in hand.
I prefer bent stems for the very same reason!

Hi Malcolm, did my gift arrive? I sent you a book, albeit a new one. Kindest regards and Christmas greetings from Royal Hillsborough x
Hi Alexandra. I’m not sure that it did, unless it was the copy of Judith McQuoid’s Giant, but I think she may have sent that herself. What book was it?
M
Hi Malcolm, I think I may have incorrectly addressed it? Amazon package.... could you knock on the door of 1A? It's 'The Wager' by David Grann.
