We spoke to some of the men taking the class, as well as the organisers and instructors. But the classes, which other European countries may also introduce, have been criticised for stigmatising migrant men.James Longman reports.

I think these classes are stigmatising if they are only for refugees. All men and boys should be taking these classes. I think a lot of Western women still wouldn't be able to tell if what they experienced or witnessed was rape, or not. Even though we know what rape is, it doesn't usually happen in ways that are obvious and social expectations can cloud the understanding eg rape within marriage. Also, we still live in a patriarchal culture where the burden is on the victim to provide evidence that the rape happened and the man can just say he didn't do it and doesn't have to prove he didn't. There is still a blame culture on the victim, and when a rape happens in a public place it is women who are advised to be careful and stay in, rather than all men in the area being put under curfew until the rapist is caught.

I think selctive immigration is good European countries used to select qualified well educated people from third world countries. And as an arab, I see(from observing immigrants from my relatives) that educated tend to be more flexible and pragmatic they accept the host country's culture and raise their children well.
While uneducated ppl are want to do whatever they want they are hateful towards the host country even when they give them more rights than their home countries(e.g the US allows women to wear hijab in military wich is porhibited in most muslim countries )

Rape can happen in a married couple, and I’m 100% sure, rape inside a marriage is not even considered a crime in these countries. In these cultures, Women simply aren’t incentivized to report rape, it’s shameful for them to do so, and as I said, the law is not on their side.
They mostly blame the rape victim. If they even consider coercion and forced consent rape. The society you're raised in has a huge impact on how you as a woman will view your own sexuality, so don't presume women from this culture are sympathetic to sexual assault victims.

I used to live in a mixed neighbourhood in Norway. Harassing, groping and raping of Norwegian and white women happens all the time. Me and most of the girls I knew had experiences like this.

There is some interesting stuff out there about this. It’s like a pattern that is used when they were raised. This pattern is totally different than the western pattern. This makes it very hard to even understand how they think. Reforming a pattern as a system (for example Islam) is impossible. You can think of our western society and the trials of the communist to change it. They tried it but have never succeeded in reforming the western pattern.

My country had a war in the 90s after Yugoslavia fell apart. Ask any man who fought in the war if he would have fled without his family. Most refugees from my country were elders, women and children...here and there some men...but most of them stayed and fought for our country some of them unfortunatley never saw their family again...but at least their families were save. Some didnt even flee to other countriea but to other cities which werent affected by the war...like some coastal cities.
Imagine if all these men went away and left their families here ...most of them would probably be dead and our country would not exist.
These supposedly war refugees could have at least try to bring their mothers and sister whoever to one of the neighbour countriea which are safer and then go to Norway and try to bring them over after you fullfill all those criteria.

I fear for the futur of Norway. Mass immigration from a few decades ago had very bad consequences in my country. There are places where even the police can't go anymore because the communities that live there became too violent. And since a few years, we also have to deal with the refugees issue.
As a kid I saw nothing wrong with having people from different culture in my country but as I grew up and got exposed to the consequences multiculturalism... Let just say that some people can't adapt to other culture and will end up causing problem.

As a Norwegian who loves people and have met a lot of very kind hearted immigrants, I must say that the last couple of years there’s been a significant uprise in gangster/magia culture which was almost non existent before we started letting a lot of immigrants in.
A friend of mine went on a date with a girl, a couple days after he was attacked by like 10 somalian teenagers who people can apparently pay to beat people up, ended up in the hospital barely surviving and now have really bad ptsd
I think we should let immigrants in but it must fone properly. Every immigrant needs cultural education and Norway have to stop placing all immigrants in the same areas with no native Norwegians, they need cultural variety.

These people also usually carry a lot of trauma, bad memories from the horrible things they have seen and went through. It’s essential that immigrants get the help they need emotionally as well, as people who carry a lot of unprocessed/unresolved trauma may not know how to deal with their feelings, which may end up in taking that anger out on other people, or even disconnecting completely with their emotions.
Not to compare so don’t get me wrong here; but there is a reason why practically every known serial killer ever had some form of childhood trauma and unprocessed emotions, history of abuse etc. We humans are emotional beings, and our physique is everything to us. It’s how we perceive the world around us, every decision we make and so on, which is why it’s so important that when immigrants arrive at a new country, they get the help they need mentally too, for everybody’s sake
You are too kind. I am an inmigrant and I think of an foreigner is already not seeking to adapt and mingle with the locals beforehand then he is a lost cause, because it really is common sense. These classes shouldn't be necessary...if they already don't come in with the mindset thay they are going to a foreign country and they need to respect and adapt to the culture then... you are essentially trying to teach common sense into these people, and that is REALLY hard to do. What they need to do is to vet them and deport and forbid the entrance of those who think like those. The VAST majority of inmigrants don't need this, because the vast majority of people can figure that when in Rome you do what romans do.

It's important to understand the religious part of this, not just the cultural. Islam is the main issue here, not culture alone. In Islam, women are far less valued than men. In fact, men can treat women almost in any way they want (as for the words of Mohammad). Unfortunately, due to political correctness, this is "forbidden" and taboo to talk about in almost any western or nothern part of Europe.
To say that this doesn't have anything to do with Islam, is very, very wrong. My university degree is wirtten on this very subject, so this is something that I can assure you. We must take the discussion about Islam now.

With respect, what you're saying is nonsense. This has nothing to do with "innate, inherent belief/feelings" there is no "trait" that automatically leads people one way or another. We are taught how to interact with people and coming from a culture where the sexes are segregated you don't learn how to interact or behave around the opposite sex. Being young, hormones raging and often misinformed it's not hard to see how certain interactions can go wrong.
Imagine yourself landing in Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan and just being thrown into a society & culture you know nothing about - imagine how lost you would be. What's acceptable for women, how you should dress, and speak, which areas you can access and those you can't. They would look at you like you're insane because to them all the rules, standards and expectations seem natural and normal or what you might mistakenly call innate or inherent traits.

Last year in summer, I was walking home from a sleepover at a friends. It was a Sunday, middle of the day (around 1pm I think), broad daylight. And no, I wasn't wearing revealing clothes, just knee-length jeans and a t-shirt, so normal outfit. I was listening to music in one ear and hummed along, when suddenly I noticed a car slowing down besides me. I immediately noticed no one else was around and then they pulled up in front of me and drove a little onto the sidewalk (fortunately not blocking the way though). I saw 4 arab men in the car, the 2 who sat in the back got out of the car and started walking towards me. In that moment I knew, and it was like a switch flipped in me.
I was ready to fight, I was angry, I felt rage and if they dared touch me, I'd kill them. How dare they underestimate me? How dare they disrespect me just because I am European and wear what I want? I felt a bloodlust in me I never felt before, I was afraid of myself lol.
So when they sneaked towards me (they walked very cautiously, like a predator preparing to attack), I reached into my bag and grabbed my self-defense weapon but didn't pull it out. I looked them both straight in the eyes and internally was like "come on, dare! I'll show you!". They stopped immediately, stared at me for a moment, then shouted at each other in aggressive Arab, sprinted back to their friends in the car and all 4 of them sped off with squeaking tires. I was dumbfounded. I couldn't believe...did this really happen? Why did they run? I was disappointed I didn't get to show them what it's like to suffer and then I noticed I was shaking, but not from fear. It was suppressed rage. So I screamed "GTFO of my country!", even though they couldn't hear me anymore. I ran after the car. I knew it was pointless, but at least I got to burn off a little energy.
After that my attitude towards Arab men changed. I grew up in Germany and everyone knows what happened in 2015. After that my friends and I would generally keep our distance from these people, but now...should one of them ever dare touch me or any white woman before me inappropriately, I'll fight. We've been too nice to these people for far too long.

Every year before classes at my university, all students are required to take a similar (though shorter) course. It's full of important things like affirmative verbal consent is the minimum consent you should acquire as well as stiff gender roles and homophobic remarks being to blame for sexual assaults.
