Will definitely incorporate the post run routine going forward - mine was previously a cool down walk with protein intake soonest thereafter. At least I don't need to be reminded to smile - I'm that talkative guy in our club pack runs, photographer urging smiles, and quick to encourage when I see someone hurting / struggling. Boom shakalaka - greetings from Addis Ababa where I'll be based for the next 4 weeks : altitude training an added bonus ahead of the Cango marathon in February where I'm aiming for a new PB and improved qualifier for Two Oceans & Comrades.

Another great video..thanks Nick. Watch functionality is incredible now… I remember running in the early 2000’s with a ‘brick’ Velcro’d to my arm to send a fairly inaccurate measure of speed and distance to my watch!

Haha you gotta love what we used to do back in the day. I do in a way miss writing in a good old log book!

Cheers Nick, this vid was what I needed at a time I was starting to feel like I was overcomplicating training - this helps a lot!

Really enjoyed your videos during the runs - I think the mental challenges and ways to deal with the minds during hard runs and races will be of great great learning value for the rest of us. Keen to see some dedicated videos on your advise around that! Thanks in advance :)

Ooof yes that’s a whole different can of worms. Those demons we face during our sessions 🤯 we all deal with them. Yes, sure, I’ll do a video on it soon.

    Howzit Nick
Thanks for the video, appreciate it.
Wanted to ask which Garmin watch are you using?
I got the FR 55 off takealot, was on a good special however i feel the watch face is a little small for me.
I am looking now at the FR 255 vs FR 265 that being the main difference of the MIP screen vs AMOLED screen.
Wanted to get your opinion and experience please.
    Thank you

Howzit, I’m using the Garmin FR 965 and love it 😍
I’d say it’s up to you between those too. Anything in the FR is great 👊🏻

Loved the video, but it would have been even better if you used some footage pieces of YOUR OWN running (maybe even from years ago) so that we don't have to watch some random person with poorer running form.😉😆

Thanks Nick, great content, I'm looking to break 20 min 5k for the first time ever this Sat. What are your preferred shoes for a 5k race?

    • @justalilbester
      @justalilbester  8 місяців тому +1

Amazing! Good luck and let me know how it goes. My preferred shoe is the adidas Pro 3. But the Sen’s are just as lethal for shorter distances

@@justalilbester Cheers for the reply. Adidas has never been on my radar, ive currently been using Saucony Pro / Elite and also Nike VF 2 for 5ks. I wondered if they are quite right for 5ks. I like the look of the Adidas Sens 9s will order a pair 👍🏼
