Suge knight dropped the ball big time . He had one the biggest record label of all time and had some amazing artist but let his ego and crazy ways get in the way. Look at him now he has nothing to show for it and in prison for the rest of his life. No female on that label had a good chance of having a promising career with Suge. He had Nancy fletcher, Lady of Rage, Jewel, Michel’le, Storm & even Left eye at one point. Dre don’t know what to do with female artist either. I remember he dropped Dawn from Envogue because he told her he didn’t know what to do with her & he had Eve too but gave her to Ruff Ryder’s. I remember when Jewel said Dr Dre supposed to help her with her album but instead he asked her for a threesome. She was so hurt over that … she cried in that Vlad interview. The industry definitely cater more to males than female artist. They have no respect for female rappers at all. They be wanting the female artist to have sex with them for a record deal And til this day it’s still like that.
We agree that they didn't know what to do with her/how to market her. But they really should've just dropped her album right after "Afro Puffs" was featured on the "Above the Rim" soundtrack. The fact that they didn't leads us to believe something fishy was going on behind the scenes.

Awesome insight, and great coverage of her career. You hipped me to some things I didn't know about her. As far as the L.A. Posse - They Come In All Colors (1991) album, Rage stood out big time On "The Winds Too Def To Die" & "Total Chaos". Lady of Rage represented Virginia well being a rapper on Death Row Records. Did good playing in movies too.😁 Definitely proud of her as native Virginian from Farmville, Va. Small town lady that did it big in music!
The Lady of Rage is one of the most underrated emcees in the history of Hip-Hop music. If Dre would’ve been able to get her album done b4 he left Death Row, she would’ve shut the game down. Believe that...
It seems the time frame and quantity of men and their ages of immaturity and rise up and egos pushed rage to the side. Some say the world wasn't ready for rage, but they never tried to keep her audience of fans to find out that was a lie. All grown up now, I hope Rage knows she has still some great talent and I pray she stays healthy and well to venture out what is next for her. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Crazy that you did this topic. I was just listening to Doggystyle on Thursday. Afterward, I asked my wife if she knew who was the first person to spit on the album. She had no clue it was Rage. Sis was supposed to be here for the long haul.
When artists aren’t in the industry anymore, what do they do? Do they get a job, do they work behind the scenes?? What do they do? She’s a fire lyricist.

This happens to MILLIONS of artists every day, why are yall throwing out the gender thing? Artists have huge hits and then disappear. Every day. RAp is MOSTLY enjoyed by young males. Just like sports. Just how R&B is mostly catered to women. Why no complaints there? I love Rage and wish she wouldve came out but there are other factors than just "because shes a woman".
See, this is a cautionary tale about how bad management can ruin a promising career. She should have been just as successful as Queen Latifah, Viatica Fox, .

After watching this, Master P and No Limit truly changed how albums came out in the late 90s. They were releasing albums every week or two and nobody had to wait on the shelf. I'm guessing Death Row was releasing albums quarterly and Rage just had to wait regardless if she was promised a release or not.
Very well done video. Became a lifelong fan of Rage after hearing her verse on "Lyrical Gangbang" off the Chronic. It's a shame she never really got a fair shot.

The actress Jackee could be their aunt. They all look like her too. Her and Kim Whitley almost look like twins. Gorgeous and talented women.
She's a genuine, down to earth young lady. Love her music and acting. I actually liked that she ventured off into acting after rap. Very talented and shows her versatility. I'm praying she's gets a movie role or deal. Shout out to PECHS Alum. Humble beginnings.
Prince Edward Eagles in the house!
The Lady Of Rage's album Necessary Roughness was straight fire to me. 👌🏾 Unfortunately it just didn't get the proper promotion to back it. Hopefully she will bless us with a second album in the near future. I'm definitely wishing her the best in whatever she decides to do in her life and career. 💯
Did she play baby D in the movie Friday?

Album was mid. Had no direction. I always wished she linked back up with Dr. Dre on Aftermath. Too bad that didn't happen.
Awesome insight, and great coverage of her career. You hipped me to some things I didn't know about her.
As far as the L.A. Posse - They Come In All Colors (1991) album, Rage stood out big time On "The Winds Too Def To Die" & "Total Chaos".
It would of been dope as hell to have had a Lady Of Rage album back in 1993 before all the Deathrow procrastinating.
This was a nice tribute to rage. I hope she is doing well.
I loved the music and It was sad. That she didn't get the
shine, That she should have RECEIVED..
Thank you for giving her the flowers she deserve 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I loved her. She didn't get to shine like she should have. She would have been huge. It's ashame how Suge did his business. I love you Lady of Rage. You're a superstar 💕💕💕
My sentiments EXACTLY!!
Thank you!
Music wise, she was literally on death row. The label really held her back.
Ayyye she had me rocking afro puffs proudly! 🙌🏽❤❤❤
Me to
Lady of Rage represented Virginia well being a rapper on Death Row Records.
Hell yeah she would've
Necessary Roughness is still a dope album though
Believe THAT!
I think if she had the same backing like Lil Kim (Biggie and Junior Mafia) and Foxy Brown (Jay-Z, Nas/The Firm) did, her rap career would’ve been different. Her acting took off though
She didn’t because she sold lyrics not sex and wasn’t available to be readily slept with ..
Right even w.how cube was first behind yo-yo
Thnx for sharing 💘 you keep on rockin🎶👑Lady Witchu Badd Self👏💨
Not her challenging other artists on the label to do a VERZUZ before verzuz even existed!!! Yassss Queen ✨💕🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 she definitely was robbed of an epic career
Deathrow at that time was the worst label for a female rapper or singer. They did the same thing to Michelè and Jewell smh
I think that superbowl idea is PERFECT!!! My daughter was around 3 when we were playing her and she always sang along to that chorus! Hopefully uncle Snoop will do right by her!!
YESS! He needs to make it happen!
DEFINITELY 💯💯

Thank you for this episode. Lady of Rage was always one of my my favorite unsung rap artist. It always saddens me when an artist is unable flourish due to their ties to a record label. Continue to rock on with yo bad self. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I bought the necessary roughness album and I don’t regret it. Only because it wasn’t promoted doesn’t mean it’s not good, it’s definitely a vibe
Thanks for watching ❤️
I agree shitty promo....dope album!
Yes and she would have made more money if she made more albums but she only made one you can always take a second Mike and make albums and promote them yourself
Juveniles 400 degrees wasn’t promoted well but is well respected as a Hood Classic.
To me it is a classic. Definitely one of the best post Dr. Dre death Row albums.
Always been a fan!! Always will be a fan! Rock on wit yo bad self ✊🏾❤️💓🙌🏾
So many hidden gems in the music industry, they deserve to shine too.
We agree!
I like this video.... Im glad you made it💪🏾❤️
All of your videos are SO well done. Love them. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼💖
Thanks for watching ❤️
Yes, this was a beautiful commentary. While acting might not be her first love, she is an excellent actress. Steve Harvey signed her on, I feel this is what she should focus her career goals on. Acting will take this young lady to places she never dreamed of.
Thank you for doing this. I was a little kid when her singles came out. I liked her but i never knew why she never popped off on the mainstream like she should’ve. Appreciate how you shed light on how females are treated in the industry.
She didn’t get shitted on because she female she got shitted on because she wasn’t loyal
Such a beautiful tribute to Rage..I loved this. Been a fan of hers since the first day I heard her. It hurts to see she didn't get the shine she deserved. Peace and blessings to you Rage. Please continue to "Rock on witcha bad self" ❤️
Lady Of Rage went hard... She seemed very Down to Earth As Well.. Her features on Snoop's DOGGY STYLE album Were Pure Classics!!
Crazy that you did this topic. I was just listening to Doggystyle on Thursday. Afterward, I asked my wife if she knew who was the first person to spit on the album. She had no clue it was Rage. Sis was supposed to be here for the long haul.
She and Kym Whitley favor in the face.
Twinsies 😂

I been waiting on someone to do a video on LADY RAGE. Thanks
thank you for doing this video .. a lot of ppl prolly don’t even know about this queen 💯💪🏿🤍
They know she baby D
That video was done in great taste and beautifully done. I really enjoyed it.
When artists aren’t in the industry anymore, what do they do? Do they get a job, do they work behind the scenes?? What do they do? She’s a fire lyricist.
With Snoop in control it could happen
@@torrencemeeks1162 I agree. With the poor direction of music today, do you really think a Lady of Rage album 💿 would stand a chance?
thanks for another good one rrg!
She laid definitely a foundation for upcoming female rappers . She charted the path in a world of male dominance back then. I happened to listened to her music for the first time. Be blessed you all . Love from Senegal ,West Africa. I just happen to educate myself in black musical culture. This is channel is of great help !

This is how the industry does female rappers it’s sad and unfair smh 🤦♀️ they seem to be afraid of the power women have and didn’t want her to take over like they knew she could they wanted it to be all about the men everybody knew death row was a shady ass label from the start she’s an amazing actress and artist

Yyyoo thank you for this vid i have been wondering for years when has happened to rage
I was just a kid when she came out but I loved her songs. It was an anthem for all the little girls rocking Afro-Puff(s) in the 90s
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL ❤✊🏿!!! I gotta try some of that bacon jerky 😁!
Was definitely sexism at play & was worthy of a multi-million dollar lawsuit.
Wonder what the statue of limitations is for something like that 🤔
@@rrg I just googled it, and they said for like sexism discrimination you have three to four years. but I could be wrong and she should definitely look into that. but I guess she's afraid she's going to get black balled from any future endeavors.

My name is Trenton Jenkins. What hurt her in my opinion is when she turned down 2pac's collaboration she didn't truly realize how big that was because they would've been one of the greatest duo of all of times because she was gangsta and other female M.C's wasn't actually coming like her.....put it this way she would've been to 2pac what Snoop is to Dr.Dre....just like Dre it would've been hard listening to a 2pac Song without Rage on it.

Rage was the 1st chick to come out with flows, lyrics, and stamina like the dudes...before her, chicks still had that retro style...lil Kim pays homage to Rage all the time for being an inspiration to her...if you listen to Kim on that mixtape Daddy O produced with the Jr. Mafia...she sounds Alot like Rage... I remember Rage from back in the day, and the song “ Afro Puffs” because I used to watch the video, and she was definitely blowing up the scene, and her hairstyle was unique, her trademark. No one else was rocking her look back then. I wondered what happened to her. She blew up the scene with “Afro Puffs” and then disappeared. I hope things go well for her.

What an excellent video!!!
Those dudes certainly tried their *damndest* to *block her blessings!!* That was dirty.
Thankfully, she's well and is safe from the *massive trashiness within that industry.*
I hope we'll KEEP seeing her in films and hear some DOPE music from her.
Rock on, witcha bad self -------> *RAGE.*
I remember this song and I remember her from the Steve Harvey show as Coretta.
After watching this, Master P and No Limit truly changed how albums came out in the late 90s. They were releasing albums every week or two and nobody had to wait on the shelf. I'm guessing Death Row was releasing albums quarterly and Rage just had to wait regardless if she was promised a release or not.
Afro Puffs is still a jam from the Above the Rim soundtrack 🔥.
We agree!
Yes. I definitely agree with that Lady of Rage should get a shot to be signed to a record label again because .I like to hear music .
Very well done video. Became a lifelong fan of Rage after hearing her verse on "Lyrical Gangbang" off the Chronic. It's a shame she never really got a fair shot.
Thx for this video! I _loved_ Rage, all the girls did growing up in Chicago. MC Lyte was another amazing rapper who didn't market catering heavily towards sex appeal.
Thanks for watching!
I think she didn't have the sex appeal like these new rappers have. Thas why they didn't push her or promote her as much. Sad but true.
SHE didn't have sex appeal??? All those men and her and she was the one who didn't have sex appeal????
Snoop Dogg owns death row records... I hope he brings back all the real artist back
.
The word Death Row is jinxed good luck Snoop.
I hope so to, but we'll see
@@truthhurtshuh5443 they need to change that whole name of Death Row. Snoop bought it now and needs to start his own name with a whole new meaning, with Westcoast artist like back in the day. I loved the whole Westcoast sound back in the day, and that's what needs to go back to. Our own unique sound different from the others.
Lil Kim and Foxy Brown changed the way men looked at female rappers.
Back in the day she was nice it's no secret that alot of artists got pushed to the side for other more popular Rappers in their camps and Rage just happened to be one of them but that was just part of the mid '90s
