Martin Scorsese: Reel Pieces with Annette Insdorf
Annette Insdorf will moderate an onstage conversation with the legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, including clips from his acclaimed new movie, Killers of the Flower Moon.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio (Best Actor nominee from the Critics Choice Awards), Lily Gladstone (winner of the Best Actress prize from the NY Film Critics Circle, National Board of Review as well as the Golden Globes), Robert De Niro (Best Supporting Actor nominee from the Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards), this epic is based on crimes of the 1920s that resonate today. The script co-written by Scorsese and Eric Roth - based on the nonfiction book by David Grann - dramatizes a conspiracy to steal land and money from the Osage people through murder and inheritance.
Martin Scorsese has made some of the most memorable films of the past fifty years. Beginning with Mean Streets and Taxi Driver, his New York City became a vibrant cinematic turf that continued with Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Age of Innocence and Gangs of New York. Beyond his urban chronicles, he made such celebrated movies as Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Kundun, The Aviator, The Departed, Hugo, The Wolf of Wall Street, Silence, and The Irishman.
Killers of the Flower Moon can be seen in its entirety (206 minutes) on Apple TV+ with a subscription, or on Prime Video for $19.99.
Recorded Jan 24, 2024 at 92nd Street Y, New York.

THE master. We are so lucky he’s making movies even now, and not just any films. They’re self-aware, thoughful and impactful films that can only come from a dynamic mind.

Terrific interview. Interesting that someone in the audience was not happy to have their question heard 😅

Good Lord above ..when two master craftsmen - Mr Scorsese and Robbie Robertson collaborate on a project ,the end product can only be reached by the very finest in their particular fields of art .. filmmaking and music of the greatest kind possible . It's impossible to reach any other outcome . The Maestro and the conductor ..I'll Waltz to that !

Wasn't happy Emma won the Oscar just for being naked & over the top. Lily was so understated and elegant.

KotFM: 3,5hours about gaslighting, poisonous injections and Freemasons…! Is Marty trying to tell us something? Or is he just poking fun of us? The film‘s story is told in an utterly boring fashion. I believe Marty was not interested in the story of the Osage. He was interested in the meta story: showing how gaslighting works, how they do it and who‘s doing it. In that regard, the film is brilliant.
