I love the title, the song is inspiring, I love the last line, "and all the broken hearted, I sing for you", I don't think there needs to be a back story, actually; because the song tells the whole story and stands on its own; because once you hear the song; and listen to it over and over; which is pleasing to do, you will understand the title of the song, Princess of Ruins, a girl that stands or sits in the middle of her ruined dreams, that this is beyond sad and wrong, this is sad that any person be in the situation, dreams give hope, if your dream or dreams are taken from you, yes taken, it's like someone comes and steals it from you when they say, no you can not do your dream, yes, this song is for all broken hearted, the book tells its story and now this song tells its story, different from the book; but the same; but the song goes further and sheds light on all broken hearted people that sit in the center of their broken dreams; one more thing, Princess in title is good; because it shows that this girl is important, and the line "I sing for you" that Angelina Jordan will keep singing her message for those forgotten or pushed aside by whoever or whatever, because this is her talent, her gift, singing, using her voice for those who do not have a voice; hopefully lifting up those who hear this song to action, the broken hearted and those who have ❤️🔥
I make no apology for my disinterest in reactors who refuse to take the tine to check the back story behind Angelina's performances. One of her greatest gifts, and one that places her in a league of her own, has always been her ability to infuse immense emotion into any song she sings. She does this to a level which I have yet to see any other artist even approach. Therefore, without knowing the background, it is not possible to fully appreciate the full impact and power of the performance. The cliche, "Let's dive right in", has become an off-switch for me. Particularly in songs like "Million Miles", her otherworldly performance of "Unchained Melody" at the Narges Mohammadi tribute, most recently "Princess of Ruins", to name just a few, you would lose a lot of the impact if you don't know what's behind it. I remember being particularly disgusted when a someone reacted to "Always On My Mind" (a song that meant so much to her, and affected her so deeply), starting off with a big, happy grin on their face, diving right in (the reactor, I mean), blissfully unaware of the pain she was fighting through when she did that profound tear-jerker. Every time I wrote a comment to a reactor doing "Unchained Melody", I implored them to go to James's brilliantly constructed video. Is it just me? Is my position on this unreasonable? I don't think so!

Maybe it's unreleased because the song is actually part of the full alum that should be coming out some time this year. Well, that is the hope for me. I was 40 before I could say that I had any maturity at all and Angelina at 6 had more empathy than I will ever have! I found Angelina just over 3 years ago and she has made my life way better! I was at her last 3 concerts and it was almost like some sort of religious experience for me.She is incredible!!! Excellent work Mr Papier.

I have checked this out with many sound track's and I just don't hear "an old". Still waiting for James to get back to me on this.

Alan - Thank you for creating this video. When Angelina performed the song in Vegas it was amazing. It has me in tears every time I hear it…
When I see that 9 year old girl reading from her diary she penned 0:02 as a 6 year old is pretty much incomprehensible to me. I mean what six year is able to keep and write in a diary? And then the depth of emotion and empathy… She is naturally blessed with the goodness and kindness that I believe all human beings are capable of. It’s taken me a lifetime to begin my understanding.
Then she’s raised million dollar for charities for children, and also for environmental causes, and a great humanitarian a great example for all of us. Yes, I will watch her since she’s one and a half years of age for ever cents, never took my off ever because I knew that she’s gonna be the greatest singers in the world and very popular, famous singer, and she worked hard to where she’s at, she practicing practice and practice. Uncle Mike said he was stopper for practically because she wouldn’t do that she wouldn’t even eat so she determined to do it at the age of six. She knew what she want to be in wahoo she has.

Allen I’ve been on her very long year before she was one shot that thing when she’s threatening her at Macy’s put on my Facebook you got released OK long for you even Angelina and I’ll still gonna follow her long as I can. I’m back in USA now several times her concert and lost and no way, we flew from USA medal a nice state to Barcelona Norway three times to Spain. Pontus Osterlin on “wrapped in a warm blanket” made a comment that some people stutter but don’t when they sing. We are all different and when Angelina speaks at 8 or 18 -she is still young and may have some nerves-but when she sings its angelic, mature and beautiful.

OK we all seen this on and she working as a shoe bender or freak bender. And she had a white people on the store because her mom and dad had died and he had she had to feed her siblings and then ask grandma I guess great grandma to why the hell the street with no shoes on the feet scarf is cold and they said some people don’t have food for money or clothes that was a revelation of her cause you never heard of such a thing that’s first time she induced so she asked to go speak to her she did, and grandma told language and They called Persian that was called positive then, and he spoke to her for a while and she asked her why she’s want to be a doctor, but I can’t because my parents are dead and I have to have enough money to pay my siblings anything Angela gave her shoes to her and she come back and she wrote the book but she’s on the bridge and all and all right and she explains it to in detail why she worked no shoes on stage that that’s why wearing her shoes. Yes I seen all that and I was at the concert too so I seen the both of them all she did want to Matthew or two alsoso great I love her I love always folder. Thanks as always Alan. I'm sure we all expected that at some point Angelina would revisit "Between Two Hearts" in the form of an original song. It's such an integral part of who she is; how could it be otherwise? And yet.... To have that foundational life event happen at such a young age, and then to memorialize the experience for posterity by writing and publishing a book about it as a grade schooler, and then to pen a touchingly emotional song about it and debut the song at her first live Vegas performance - all by the age of 18? It should astound me; it should astound Angels everywhere. But it all just seems perfectly in keeping with everything we know and love about Angelina Jordan. And it solidifies my confidence that she'll continue to go her own way, to be true to herself. She's such a gift to us. Thanks again.

I have always seen her singing in public barefoot since the age of 7, from her first appearance at the Norwegian talent show which she later won.
At 8 years old she sang for the Nobel Prize outdoors in Oslo barefoot in subzero temperatures.
I would have preferred this vocal style for every performance , the best of the whole night imo . ❤

Robert she really does want people to sing along with her - she asked us to in Portsmouth. She has asked that more than once singing Mercy. The problem is that we all want to LISTEN to her sing, her voice is so mesmerizing. So no one sings along. Perhaps this song is one that will break the spell 🙂

My solution to that in previous concerts was to sing along silently, without making any sound. Angie could see I was “singing” along, but in reality I was listening to her, enjoying the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard ❤
When I first time saw that tv-program where she read her journal I was really impressed. I knew she was still very young but I felt all tihe time like I would have been listening to an adult, not a child. And not even a young adult, more like a little bit older adult. I had never, ever previously seen anything similar on tv.

I was one of the lucky ones who was present at her past shows in Las Vegas...in addition to being an incredible experience for being my first time seeing Angeelina Jordan perform live...it was a second gift to witness the first time That she sang this masterpiece " Princess of Ruins " in public that I am sure from now on, it will practically be her anthem and obligatory theme in all her concerts...

I received a copy of her book as a gift from one of her fans when we were in Norway. Later that night she autographed it. When the English version became available electronically I purchased it. I have watched each of the interviews many times. The new song is a wonderful topper to that very special story about their connection, that day on the street.

Wonderfully done Alan. I will request reactors to watch your video so more people can learn the full story that inspired "Princess of Ruins". I had to wipe away tears by the time your video was done. Brett Rudman, on his channel, has a 15 second video of Sara, Michelle (Michael's wife) and Juliette dancing to this song at the concert. "Princess of Ruins" is a song of celebration, of how the lives of two very young girls were changed for the better. Angelina angels carry the caring and loving spirit of this song with them at all times and try to inspire others to join in its charitable message.

What a great tribute to an amazing song.
Another thought is about her performance of the song - for the first time! - in Vegas, that are further evidence, as if we need any, of her genius in conveying meaning and emotion. She almost whispers 2 words: first "nothing" in "when you have nothing". Beautiful. Then "something" from giving her something, her shoes. Giving the girl her shoes was of course a beautiful act. But sadly couldn't fully lift the girl out of her difficult life - but, humbly, quietly, it was at least "something"....and of course far more than others in her book who simply passed by, or worse accused the girl of putting on an act...

The ONLY other person I could envision doing what Angelina did at 6 years of age, when she took
the shoes off her own feet and gave them to a poor 6 year old orphan girl she met in a 'war torn'
Mid -East street is Mother Teresa, for that's how exceptionally remarkable the act was, and especially when
you realize Angelina's age at the time of the event. Having met a nun who served under Mother Teresa
in the slums of Calcutta, I was given a small photo of 'Mother' that appeared on a 'baseball' card containing
her photo on one side with the following words on the other side, ' God hath no greater love than for those
who come to the aid of a stranger in desperate need'. The nun went on to tell me that 'Mother' believed God
knows we all help family and friends without a second thought........but what truly impresses him is when we
apply that form of giving to someone who is a total stranger. That, my friends, is Angelina without a doubt !

There is one word change I suggest to your posted lyrics. The phrase as you've listed is: "Her hearts and hopes, she keeps them in the know..." I think the word "know" is actually "dark". Take another listen and see if you agree.
Otherwise, this was one of the best AJ videos you've made. It's as though this one song exposes the genuine and admirable core of Angelina Jordan.
Funnily enough, originally I had 'dark' but the audio makes the lyrics uncertain. So if you play the subtitles while reading the captions, one says 'dark' and the other says 'know'. So I covered my bets

Last night , my wife and I went to the cinema and watched Cabrini. I can't help but think that Angelina and Mother Cabrini would have been the closest of friends had they known each other. Appropriately enough, the movie was produced by Angel Studios.

Alan I love the things you share about Angelina’s artistry… This particular podcast(if I may call it that) is among my very favorites!! I just saw Angelina share this song for the first time in a posting on UA-cam that shared one of her Vegas concerts. I was moved by it .. knowing already the background story from that incredible experience at age six in her life. You’ve made the whole thing even richer here by sharing even more in depth and by sharing the lyrics (at least 95% correct as you said) which I had understood less than 40 % of from her concert footage. She is such a beautiful soul in her empathy to others who need help and light. I hope she never loses that as I think it sets her apart and will continue to set her apart as she makes her way to super stardom. Her confidence and her gift and her humanity are all a very incredibly special gift from a much higher entity than any of us can imagine. That a young child at the age of 18 months should be viewed as prodigal or exemplar or the absolute best. My best take away from watching Angelina for the last seven or eight years is that her humanity matches her precious music!

Thank you so much, Alan, for this deep dive into the other side of Angelina. It is one thing to be an exceptional vocalist. It is quite another to be an exceptional human being. AJ is all that and more in the same package, something quite rare today. When we first heard "Princess of Ruins" at the concert in Vegas, my wife, who is new to Angelina, was knocked back on her heels. Her reaction was, "WOW! This needs to be on the radio." I was left with the thought of what it would be like to have the recourses to track that girl down and bring the two of them together again after all these years. Wouldn't that be something?!! When introducing new people to Angelina, I always try to include the "Barefoot Backstory". Your review does it so much better than I ever could. Thanks again, and please, keep up the great work.
