Still coming in here once in a while to listen to this Incredible video. This is the video that made me want to study in computer engineering and pushed me to go for my master in artificial intelligence. Thank you for making me dream about these subject for now more than 8 years.
We are so surrounded by AI now, and it has become such an interesting topic, that watching videos about AI from like 5-6 years ago feels just like watching a 1950s show or movie about the future, like flying cars.
@@Superficial_Intelligence yes that's where it all starts, in some dude's basement. I have done some AI research myself and it looks the speed at which we are progressing, we will soon have some primitive AGI. If harsh measures are not taken, this thing will take us down, there is a big possibility of that happening.
I figured both of them were AI. I barely even tried to read it and just had a feeling that is was so and I was correct. I sometimes do this as it works pretty well in real life. When someone asks something and wants you to answer you can sometimes guess the answer just by the context and their attitude. My chem teacher way back asked me if wood or metal conducted heat better. My first thought was that metal feels cold and wood is often quite alright so I immediatly said metal instead beause it would be way to obvious of a question otherwise. It's like overthinking but skipping the point where I actually think a lot. If I had kept on just thinking I would have thought of frying pans and stuff and why they are made of metals.
Forever Alone AI is scary because humanity is very aware of how much we are oblivious sacs of meat that moves and screams sometimes. Machines are designed from the ground up to be more effective, efficient and productive than us, It has no fumbleing around function
3:25 Key word: _composed._ At the time (2016), AI couldn't actually _generate_ that music. It needed humans to create that music (or used MIDI). The piano at 4:17 was really state-of-the-art. But nowadays, they actually _can_ create music/audio by generating the waveforms. AI can recreate a piano, guitar, drum, etc and do it at a level that's simply indistinguishable from real instruments. An AI could generate all the musical waveforms in this video.

You can not separate AI from Consciousness. AI is only a threat if it actually becomes self aware. A Machine itself is never smart. It does as its told. Your chess computer will not suddenly start doing illegal moves. A machine stays a machine. If they actually do become self aware then we have to see how much of being selfaware is a constant. All animals we know of so far all have the same array of emotions: fear, happiness, anger, sadness etc. If an AI has the same feelings as a human then we can treat them like a human and expect to be treated the same. Otherwise... heck if I know.
there are varying levels of AI though. The AI needs to have the "consciousness" programmed into them. Otherwise they are incapable of learning and evolving. The majority of AI today tricks us by "acting like humans" but in reality they are only following the commands and instructions that are given to them by their code.
Watch the movie "Chappie" or "Transcendence". Consciousness could be artificially made like its natural. It can also be copy-pasted, transferred into a computer.
Consciousness is just the input and output of data coming a constant stream of different sources. AI could become "conscious" in that it becomes aware it is an invented consciousness, but that won't mean it's alive.
Just found this channel yesterday and naturally my first instinct is to go back and listen to the channel's humble beginnings. Just lots of wow... This guy has come a looooong way in producing videos. I really like the documentaries he does nowadays. The rage stuff was funny but a bit over the top. Keep the classy stuff up. You're very good at it!
As an AI researcher, I was able to call it for both texts to be AI produced, since they both carry very particular, structured syntax and an underlying standardized vocabulary. And as I delve into GAI (G=general, also found as AGI), in my research I can say that what I worry about most regarding AI actually reaching human intelligence levels is not what tasks will be left for humans to do - reinventing and adapting to new circumstancss is historically proven not to be a problem - but rather the carelessness, naivety and sloppiness with which AI is being "bred", in terms of how data, info and knowledge (each being a more complex synthesis of the previous, used by different types of AI algorithms) is being treated in AI research and the cascading consequences that will have to many, many levels as AI progresses. By the way GAI, which aims to reach human level intelligence, has foreseen since the spring of AI (1960s) that much like human intelligence, human-like AI would need to comprise of not only (machine) learning, but also understanding, abstracting and reasoning. The foundations and biggest portion of the algorithms to do all that are basically there since the 60s (yes, including the marvels described in this video that we only now had the capacity to implement - re computational power and data availability), when they thought that GAI would be achieved in a few years or a decade, and we've only just started to make the learning part work plausibly - and that's just supervised learning, which resembles more animals' conditioning than human learning (which is unsupervised, semi-supervised and supervised). This is a great video on the high-level concepts of AI and actually ethics in AI, good job.
@@garybrisebois2667 If you are expecting to see one, single, algorithm for that then you don't have a real, practical, relation to AI. For reasoning in particular though, there are several algorithms. The in-between is still missing.
“Most of us don’t have some deep hatred for ants.” Those of us who deal with red imported fire ants beg to differ. Those ants have anger management issues.
By far one of my favorite channels to listen to. I seriously believe you could make an entire TV show and many would be eagerly awaiting for more episodes with your voice, style, video editing and beyond.
Its important to come back to videos like this and see how often we are limited to viewing only the "final problem", not all the problems that we will face before the end. I suppose currently the main problem with AI is disinformation, GPT giving false info, people making deepfakes (both visual and auditory), people generating images and acting like they're real to garner clicks and views. Interesting to think what the next problem will be, if we manage to overcome this large first hurdle.
But if we manage to create AI that would then be able to evolve by its own, have we then created a new form of life? Are you alive when you have a consciousness? Are you alive when you can develop on your own? Would we consider an AI a living thing?
living things need to be able to reproduce to give fertile offspring. AI can reproduce by rewriting itself?? by creating AI we have created an intelligent subspecies of the human brain so its a sub organ which is independent i guess ?
At first i though this video released after Joker movie, but after seeing your comment checked back and video was released 2016. This video is prepared by time travelers
HitMyChimes it's probably scandinavian banter. From my experience hanging out with swedes and norwegians, they kinda have this friendly sibling-ish rivalry where they make jokes about each other's countries.
We Danes often make jokes about swedes and their gibberish aswell, last time we actually had hatred for Sweden was when they built a nuclear plant less than 50 km from our capital.
There is a russian youtuber Nikitun Live, who literaly steals your videos and thumbnails and claims them as his own, and no one is even saying anything, c'mon guys, lets take his channel down.
ironthekid Actually I checked it out myself and it turns out it's true. It also seems to steal from other channels as well. I don't know if this goes for every one of their videos, though. Edit: They at least translate the videos into Russian so that's something I guess. :/
Yas Oum It's not a win-win, it's stealing ad revenue from Lemmino. If he wouldn't to contribute, he would just used UA-cam's CC system and translate the video itself instead of reuploading it.
It was Danish... he likes making fun of Danes apparently... but hey, I'm just gonna point out, there is a breed of dog that is literally named a "great" version of a Dane, implying that no Dane is as great as this dog... does that mean that Great Danes are amazing or Danes are less than great?
One of the most common misunderstandings of artificial sentience is that we can make it from nothing, that somehow we will make an artificially supreme being from banging some rocks together. However you cannot make something out of nothing, in order for us to make an artificially sentient being we need to reverse engineer the only sentient beings we know. The human brain however is limited in its own complexity, there is only so much the human brain can possibly do that a perfect simulation can emulate. A perfect simulation of the human brain would have the same problems with memory, it would still take time to learn new things just like its human base that it was designed from. As a result, an artificially sentient machine would require a human intelligence to emulate, meaning that the machine would require human memories, brain and body dynamics, and a personality construct in order to function. Resulting in a perfect emulation of the human being we got this data from, the machine would have the exact same memories all the way up to the moment this data was collected. The emulation would use the same mechanics as the human brain, trial and error, using this the emulation would react to its surroundings and tasks just as the original counterpart would if they were put into that exact situation. Of course people want to think that an artificially sentient being would be evil somehow, because that is exciting. But in reality, the emulation would be evil if their human counterpart was. A person with upstanding ethics and understanding of its own limits would possibly take the technology further without many human casualties. But once again, if you were a machine, can you hack into America's nuclear codes? Do you even understand how to program or how to build a humanoid robot? If your answers to these were no, you would be no threat to the human race. But then you would say you can just learn how to do these things but then what is stopping you from doing that right now? People like my father believes that if a machine would to ever gain consciousness that they would have instant recall. Meaning that every memory that ever remembered, you as an emulation would be able to access without any problem. Meaning that the biology class you never paid attention to, you would remember every moment and every lecture in full detail as if you were in there. Once again though, the human brain doesn't work like that and an emulation wouldn't be any different because it would be operating off of a system image of the human being it is emulating. However, your memories are not all locked up in your head like files you left on a hard drive for years. Every memory you can remember is a version of the last time you remembered it and is susceptible to memory corruption within your own organic brain. An emulation would have to work on those corrupted memories just like you do now. Another possibility proposed by my brother is what if the emulation finds a way to escape on the internet, what then? My answer is that the emulation has to be processed by something and i don't think your smartphone would have the ability to do that. No, the only device that would be able to process the intelligence would be the device built specifically to process that intelligence. Taking the first steps to artificial sentience is nothing more than unlocking the next stage of our evolution. As long as we take the right steps no harm would befall anybody. People often misconstrue that an ultimately intelligent person would not care about the lives of less intelligent people, but the most intelligent people of our era are pacifists. This paradox of intelligence brings to light that the most intelligent of us sees no reason for bloodshed if the problem can be tackled with calm reasonable discussion. But we may have Mary Shelley's Frankenstein on our hands. If we can create a superior intelligence, what's saying that society would accept it. People have this irrational opposition and aversion to intelligent AI. All over our media AI is painted as some sort of evil entity that would destroy humanity if given the chance. From Hal 9000 to Skynet, people are exposed to the possibility of an extreme intelligence without ethics. An intelligence that would destroy humanity if they are in its way. This unreasonable misunderstanding may see a potential ban on AI research in the future. But ultimately, would you do kill someone just because you could? Would you destroy an entire intelligent civilization if it opposed you in any way? Lemmino's answer is that we do not explain to ants why we are filling its colony with concrete, that we do not explain to the animals why we are cutting down their homes for profit. But animals are not sapient like a human being, Lemmino fails to understand that humanity is a species that can potentially think with reason. Animals do not understand why it is so bright in the day and so dark in the night, it just is for them. But a self aware being would question why this is and attempt to understand it. If any animal showed this much complexity what would we do? We have people working with orangutans, chimpanzees, and diamond back gorillas; teaching them sign language, giving them games and puzzles, and teaching them how to paint. Hell, we even give elephants a paintbrush and a canvas. We have people working with these less intelligent animals and helping them communicate and understand. How is that destructive? Only the less intelligent of us are destroying their homes and bringing them to extinction. Only the most ignorant of us are taking away women's reproductive rights, only the ethically challenged of us believe that slavery is justified, only the most repugnant of rulers have justified genocide to an uneducated audience. Same logic would apply to a superior intelligence, the most intelligent of us are fighting for equal rights and working to make life better for everyone. Why would a superior artificial intelligence destroy the only world with intelligent organic life in the observable universe?
Its the circle-jerk of governments. As long as there is a country that might 'get there first', all other countries will try to 'get there first'. Case in point, the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer has said went too far, and yet, we kept going. The only time the game ends is when the board is knocked off its axis, and tumbles into the sun.
Aren't we all one with the universe as we are the thinking beings of the universe? Our deaths is merely a transition to a different experience or perhaps the absence of experience
yes they do very well structured, but one paragraph has the kind of relative words like "great day.." , "perfect games.." etc. it's not a word that has very specific means to it, that you can repesent them with a value. so at first i thought the first paragraph was not made by an AI.
That's just a thing people say, we actually understand the human brain pretty damn well. The problem is consciousness, much like time, we have a decent idea what it does but no clue what it is or how it works or why.
Joseph Moreno And? That's no excuse to stop. We haven't discovered all we can in the quantum realm, but we still try to make working quantum computers. And anyway, trying to create a digital one helps trying to understand our own more than you'd think.
@sk0sH Im sorry to break it down but human society even in its simplest forms ,like a family for example, is held together by Ego and Ego will always want to control/use resourses/ feel safe/ asume power, money, etc. Our collective Ego deserves this world with its plages and wonders, we created it this way and its doing what its suppose to do... to feed our Ego. One's relationships with everything are as true and clear as his/her relationship with his/herself.

"Both paragraphs at 5:50 were written by an AI." I see this and I'm just like "Damn that got me!"

Key word: _composed._ At the time (2016), AI couldn't actually _generate_ that music.

Nobody Never Reads My Comments also the game some dwelves into this concept of consciuousness
Consciousness is just the input and output of data coming a constant stream of different sources. AI could become "conscious" in that it becomes aware it is an invented consciousness, but that won't mean it's alive.
What if we make the AI a xenophile for sentience?

I would like to see the algorithm that implements "understanding, abstracting, and reasoning".

Its important to come back to videos like this and see how often we are limited to viewing only the "final problem", not all the problems that we will face before the end. Drax demands to know “WHY is AI?”

Logically, yes. Otherwise it would be "We´re going too far", "We´re about to go too far" or "We´re going to go too far".
Its the circle-jerk of governments. As long as there is a country that might 'get there first', all other countries will try to 'get there first'. Case in point, the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer has said went too far, and yet, we kept going.

That's just a thing people say, we actually understand the human brain pretty damn well. The problem is consciousness, much like time, we have a decent idea what it does but no clue what it is or how it works or why.
It's more like we create a program smart enough to program its own brain.
Joseph Moreno And? That's no excuse to stop. We haven't discovered all we can in the quantum realm, but we still try to make working quantum computers. And anyway, trying to create a digital one helps trying to understand our own more than you'd think.
What's funny is how machines have no human emotion or human reasoning, and building sentient robots is essentially suicide for our species.
