I lived in Göreme for 4 years or so. Cappadocia is a very special and unique part of the world. I left part of my soul there. I see it in my dreams sometimes.
What a great day! Starting with the breathtaking sunrise with the hot air balloons and ending the day at a restaurant at dusk, with the moon rising over Goreme in the distance. Thanks for this amazing and interesting tour of Goreme, so beautiful! ❤✨🌙
We have come to understand your love for this place. It’s truly amazing. Anyone who doesn’t understand why you keep coming here has never been here. We totally agree with you on the sauces! Again it was great running into you. Safe travels.
Have you ever thought of exploring the Black Sea region of Turkey? This is the least explored part of the country by travel vloggers and it's a very long coastline with ancient cities like Trabzon and Amasra that looks amazing!
Ok. About the food, have you ever tried İskender Kebab and Aiı Nazık? My two favorite Turkish dishes. İskender has a tomato pepper sauce with butter and shaved döner kebab., Ali nazik has a roasted eggplant with yogurt sauce base with tender lamb cubes on top. Absolutely delicious!
I probably have. I had one with eggplant recently that was quite good. I've definitely had some tasty Turkish meals. But I decided to have Indian food tonight for a change...no regrets.
Fascinating, Amazing, Spectacular, Mysterious, I can't get enough of this place. And another thing, 55 Euros will get you a spot in a caravan park here in Australia. Thank you Gabriel, keep safe.
They developed it very nicely, without clashing with the ancient feel and landscape. The hotel room decor was beautiful. Stunning carpets. I never knew about the pigeon roosts. We used to eat raised pigeons, don't think they do it anymore now, but they were eaten grilled or boiled with the stock used for tomato flavoured macaroni. Re sauces, they eat yogurt with a lot of foods, and most sauces are from the juices produced from cooking meats and vegetables, such as in stews. Turkish cuisine is so much more than kebabs, there are so many different stews that are not 'dry' and which bread is used to mop up the sauce. Rice is usually cooked in a tasty chicken or lamb broth, not plain water, and with added orzo or noodles sauteed in butter and olive oil. Ask for pilav, not pirinc. Maybe they think you want rice the way most of the world cooks it ie in plain water. Dolma is Turkish, by the way. It comes from the Turkish verb for filling, dolmak.
By the way major props to Gab's barber he/she did a excellent job! Cappadocia is a magical place I've had to pleasure to visit there for a week and had an amazing time. You really need a rental to explore though.
In Turkey rice is traditional cooked with butter but restaurants are cheaping out and using sunflower seed oil or some other type of vegetable oil instead, usually. Sometimes people, when eating rice at home, also mix it with natural yoghurt. The way food is presented, especially the condiments that come with it, in touristic restaurants are not a really very traditional way of presenting Turkish food. Traditionally you'd get some sort of assorted meze dishes such as ezme (a sort of salsa), and haydari (a natural yoghurt based cold meze dish) that would be eaten together with the main dish.
Your dinner of Turkish Ravioli ( looks like it has yoghurt mixed into it) and that big trout and sides look delicious. That is a big meal which you deserve after all of that climbing.
Looks like mantı. Funny, of all the things to critique in Turkey he chose the cuisine 🤯🤯 First time I've heard a travel vlogger complain about the food there. Maybe it keeps his friends with anti-Turkish sentiment happy. I appreciate all good cuisine in moderation, whichever country it's from.
That is an awesome tourist center. I guess some of those are inherited by locals who use it store clutter for they live in nice modern homes today? Not all UN World Heritage sites, but did some people lose their properties and land to it or where bought out by imminent domain?
Hi Gabriel, it seems like Cappadocia is like Niagara Falls, a romantic hot spot to get married or engaged. The homes are remarkably familiar to Adobe homes of the U.S. Southwest specifically, New Mexico where the homes are cool for day heat and warm for the nights. The rice is definiley something you can mix anything with like beans or meat with gravy you can't go wrong.
If you would prefer your Turkish food with sauce, try the Iskender Kebab that is served in a tasty tomatoe sauce with hot butter poured over and eaten with plain yogurt to make it more moist. The best Iskender Kebabs are served in the city of Bursa but are also available all over Türkiye. Afiyet Ölsun / Bon appetit ! 👍🍽
Turkish cuisine literally has hundreds of ways to cook rice (pilav) and I can assure you that boiling it in plain water is not one of them. Maybe they do this in touristic areas, I don't know. Rice can be cooked in chicken broth, lamb broth, with sauteed vermicelli or orzo, with lentils and onions, with chickpeas and onions, with tomatoes and broth, with bits of lamb and onion, with bits of eggplant and onions, with carrots, almonds, cinnamon and chicken pieces, with zucchini and all the above combined, the list goes on. Gabe, you need to interact with the locals (not the waiters or hotel staff) and let them make suggestions on where and what to eat. Condiments like ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise are not needed when the food itself has flavour. Testi kebab is not dry, it's cooked in a tomato sauce, so I'm not convinced you've eaten it.

Why you are mot showing Indian History Forts, and many other old water well and Palaces. Jaipur , Udaypur, Jodhpur, and many other city of India has many old palaces which are still in very good conditions.
What spoils these places is when they become too tourist focussed & I would find that noisy racket going on annoying even though appreciate its part of their culture. Also its all very beige & dusty looking. Definitely not for me but thx for showing it.
It is weird, I love it. I am from Christian background, but parents lived in Turkey, and got used to the call to prayer, and so when I hear it, I think of my parents.....so most of time maybe it is annoying, but in my case, it is nostalgic beyond words...
Growing up Orthodox Christian, the chanting occurred inside the church & wasn't broadcast 5 times a day. Imposing religion on others is more of an interference, not an attraction.
Rice? Just add a little butter or olive oil and salt and suddenly it's tasty. Or tahini or soy sauce or another kind of sauce. That's my preference anyway. I hope you're good. 😊✌️
