SCP 1510 is a standard bronze Roman infantry helmet dating to the Marian Reforms of the year 107 BCE. The helmet bears no marks to distinguish it from other, similar helmets, and shows appropriate signs of aging. The helmet shows no anomalous properties unless worn by a man of the ages 28-35.
When worn by a man of the appropriate age, SCP1510 -1 will manifest, overriding the wearer's personality entirely until it is removed, whereupon it will return to normal. The wearer will have no recollection of the time the entity had control over his body.
When addressed, SCP-1510-1 will identify himself, in classical Latin of the Central Italian dialect, as Publius Carthephilus Aetius, a Roman soldier formerly under the command of the Consul Gaius Marius, who fought in the Jugurthine War and died under unclear circumstances the night following the triumphus of that war.

@@tylerforehand2983 According to the video, the SCP wiki as well as some history digging. Publius was a soldier who had served and fought for Consul Gaius Marius in the times of the Roman Republic during the Jugurthine War. This war had taken place from 112-106 BC which was about 79 years before the Roman Empire was founded and Jesus' crucifixion had taken 60 more years later.
So basically, Publius died somewhere at the end of 106 BC which is a total of 139 years before Jesus died on the cross. Also, one thing I found really funny was that the Roman colosseum that Publius ended up at when he was arrested by the police was only built in 70 AD, which was 176 years later (37 years after Jesus was crucified) and he really should have no way of knowing that it was a Roman building to begin with.

It was a very good choice to chose an obscure period in Roman history to set this. These days, everybody wants their character to be present and influential in some major historical event, and it breaks the suspension of disbelief, sapping the story of all realism.
It was also nice that they didn't try to make him scary or bizarre. He's more of a curiosity, and one of the rare scps whose life the Foundation actually improved. Really enjoyed this one, I'm glad Dr. Bob is willing to do ones outside of horror.

1st: they should hire the police man since he's such a good historian he knows pretty good latin and has knowledge of the ancient times.
2nd: He could potentially be used for the Foundation for field support. I mean, have a physically strong host or heck maybe even a cyborg. Have him learn English and have him train with people like The Black Knight. Now imagine a centurion, fighting for the Foundation with his only weakness being the helmet that keeps him alive.

Second thing is you don't just get into the armed forces nowadays. Back in the day you knew someone that was in, he "did some magic" and your way in was easy. Nowadays you have to go through the whole written exams, physical tests and some years of academy before becoming a cop.

I just taught of an idea. As he's willing to co-operate, this scp would me most useful in information gathering. The D-class, as sad as it is, is disposable, and with SCP-1510 they could send men into dangerous situations without wasting equipment. Even if the host get's killed, the "helmet" retains the information. The only problem will be getting to the helmet.

  • @TurtleShroom3

I like how the poor Roman in the helmet adjusted as time went on. I like to think that SCP-1510 found some solace in the fact that people STILL talk about "The Dream That Was Rome", even thousands of years later. As a person who actually marched for the Roman campaigns and saw, firsthand, the Roman civilization, it must be bittersweet to know that he played a small part in a civilization that still captures the hearts and minds of people. History tels us that your everyday Roman freeman was patriotic and very proud of his society; he had an education and literacy unmatched by other peoples of the time and would see things ranging from sewage systems to fast food, millinea before they came back.
After all, entire nights could be spent talking to him about the impact of Rome: we use Roman names for the planets, Roman names for the continents of Africa, Europe, and Asia, our governments have direct drawings from Roman proceedings, Rome is the source of endless media and pop culture, precedents dating bsack to Roman law are still in active use in our courts, medicine, science, and taxonomy all use Latin... I think it would amaze him, but also make sense, that his country had an everlasting impact on mankind.
If I were a Roman and I was taken to see the future, I think it would mean a lot to me to know that my country, my home, did so much to change the world. "The Dream That Was Rome" indeed. While you can't bring Rome back, you cannot take Rome out of the beating heart of civilization either.

Is this SCP really all that different from Dr. Bright? It's another spirit which possesses any human which it is worn by, although the helmet is essentially a neutered version of the amulet, since it can just be taken off. However, the basic principle is still the same. This helmet could very well be of some use to the Foundation, whether that use be the warrior's courage and dexterity being put to use as a member of an MTF or SD squad, or just being an immortal employee like Dr. Bright. Since his unfamiliarity with modern technology can soon be ended just by a little teaching, this anomaly could be of great use to the Foundation. Hopefully one person bothers to read this entire essay I wrote in the form of a comment.

The little nicks and texture lines on all of the objects you draw are super cool details that I love and they add so much to the style you've got going. Another thing I really am impressed by is how much movement you're able to pack into a PMV style animation, I definitely have a lot to learn about that and will totally be doing more research on your animations to see all the cool details and try to learn from them. Keep up the great work!

I just wanna point out, the Polizia and Carabiniri are two different groups, his uniform in the video is Carabinieri not Polizia because of the white sash and red strip on the legs.Provincial Polizia have a separate uniform and are not the same as Carabinieri but do work together, it is nice to see such detail put into the uniforms though that is accurate just not polizia.

Its a great video however there is one major problem, the coliseum was built in 70AD, Gaius marius died in 86 bce. So there would be no plausible way for scp 1510 to recognise that city as rome despite the clear roman architecture seen in the coliseum, as it did not exist during scp 1510's first lifetime.
