Love this video. In particular, I love it because I'm not the only guy that thinks one thing and says another. Also, I have yet to use a pencil for a probe, but I can feel it coming. Thanks!
Ha - yep, it happens. I used to tell my son when he was little, a professor is someone who says "A", means "B", writes "C", and "D" is correct. As you can see, I don't cut out the dumb stuff I do or say. A lot of my editing is adding the text to try correcting what I say. Probably still miss a lot. Thanks!
Great use of the auto head light for a dim bulb tester. Very interesting video on the auto radio, I have been on the lookout for a tube auto radio to work on someday. Great way of testing the vibrator circuit, the IF at 262KHz is much lower than home radios.
That was a good one, trying to use the pen a a probe. One time i had 2 volt meters close by. I was trying to get a reading using one of them, but was not getting a reading. Couldn't figure what was wrong with my meter. Turns out i was trying to use one probe from each meter! Ha!
Change the HV caps i n the vibrator supply a nd the output section GRID AND OUTPUT XRMR at least Weak spots on theese the ifs are 262kc not455 as ac radios. Looks as if done already on this radio

Thanks Jim. There is some interesting stuff to come in this project. Stay tuned. Thanks again.

Hey PF. Looks like your initial testing was successful. You should have this old bird singing in no time. :)
Thanks Doug. It has always amazed me how they did this with a vibrating reed to drive a transformer to get high voltage.
