I had no idea Yves Tumor produced AAA Powerline. I think you would really like their solo music. Yves Tumor’s “Praise a Lord Who Chews” was one of my favorite albums of last year. Highly recommended. Also “Heaven to a Tortured Mind” is incredible Edit: Yves’s music is nothing like drain gangs music. It’s more punk influenced with elements of indie & shoegaze put together in a really unique & psychedelic/ethereal way. They also had a lot to do with the production for Yachty’s “Let’s Start Here”
The drug addiction thing is definitely not the only theme throughout. Ecco talking about this built-in insecurity he's been left with as a result of growing up somewhere where he's the only person who looks the way he does is really interesting to me (Peroxide, Security, Blue Eyes most notably). Its pretty heartbreaking honestly, and a perspective i'm not sure i've ever heard on an album. For such a stripped back project, there truly are layers here. I've played this album countless times and still don't think i've got it all. Glad you enjoyed it!
Guess he was "odd one out" because he grew up in a central and finer part of Stockholm then, I can imagine it was very white unlike where I grew up in Stockholm that was way more mixed.
E actually does have a somewhat happy ending, on the CD version there is a bonus track called “life after life”, it’s the most beautiful track from the album.
Been waiting for this for so long this is such a beautiful and vulnerable ambient album. next stop is his collaborator Yves Tumor who came from the european ambient scenes and transitioned in to making full on glam rock records. You'll love his 2019 record Heaven to a Tortured Mind
Omg I didn't expect you to listen to drain gang stuff ( I haven't finished watching, but I hope you like it). Edit: Their stuff was pretty hard for me to get into at first too, however E and Crest are really what got me to relisten through DG projects and appreciate more of what they are going for).
You should listen to Foreign Exchange by Rx Papi and Gud, the guy who produced a lot here. It’s short but it’s like experimental gangster rap it’s good asf
51:53 on the cd/lp version of "e" there's a bonus track called "life after life" which feels like a resolution and hope for a better future, I definetly reccomend you check that one out since it's a perfect closing track to this album!! You can find it on youtube and also on spotify:) great reaction I appreciated your input on a lot of the tracks
if you like this and not icedancer crest would be great because it has bladee but most of the songs have the same vibes as this project, maybe a bit happier
Hey Bob, I’ve been a fan of your channel for a while, and you never fail to entertain me with your reactions. I don’t watch every video, but I do watch all the ones of albums I know, and occasionally I pop in for albums I’ve never heard of (like this one). I don’t know what is it, but your content is always just wholesome to watch, keep it up! There is one album that I’ve always wanted you to react to but I know you’ll never even hear of it if I don’t tell you specifically. It’s an extremely interesting album. It’s called ‘Verità Supposte’ by Caparezza, released January 1st, 2003. It’s an italian hip hop album, entirely sung in Italian, with some of the most interesting beats I’ve heard on a hip hop project, never heard anything like it. I don’t even know if you’ll see this, but it would absolutely make my day if you reacted to it. If you do cover it, I would owe you a big thanks as not only would it introduce you to Caparezza’s amazing music, but everyone else who watches you. Again, love your content and I always will!
mentioning that you like ambient music made me wonder, have you ever/do you listen to DnB? breakcore? I'm a huge fan of ambient music myself and I've noticed I enjoy listening to artists like sewerslvt in a similar way. That sort of get lost in the sound and think about nothing else sort of music. I think "Drowning in the Sewer" is a good starting point for it. Also! I think you would LOVE Nujabes if you haven't listened to him already, one of the best producers of all time, a pioneer of the jazz hiphop fusion, and in my opinion some of the most beautiful music too. "Metaphorical Music" is a good point to start listening to Nujabes, and also an absolute classic and must listen for any hiphop head
You should totally react to crest by bladee and Ecco2k if you like this! It’s soft and sweet, it feels like you’re in a magic fairy world and it’s nice and short too. I think it’s the best work either of them have put out by far.
Great job with the múm reference. Great band! With that being said I think you’ll love bladee’s ep Exeter. A lot of ambient múm type production on that project.
I feel like the drug theme is prominent throughout most of the album as it was likely a coping mechanism for some of the issues he talks about during. I think that’s where the ambient peaceful sound comes from and the album is quite relaxing, and then I think the album ending on tracks like time and blue eyes is Ecco getting out of this drugged up state and actually having to face these problems, despite how he felt on the drugs and as much as he wishes he could stay there forever “the clock won’t stop” he has to “get up wake up stand up” and he comes out exactly where he started having to deal with these problems, which likely usually ends with him giving in and going back. Which really shows the nature of a drug like ketamine as an escapism. Hence why the album doesn’t end on a resolution but rather the most horrifying track on the album as he doesn’t have a resolution yet rather hes just avoiding these things, and hearing the screams in blue eyes most people probly want to go back to earlier in the album too. Anyway I love this album
I think you have to react to the song “life after life” by ecco, in a way it was the actual outro for E, it was only on the physical copy of the vinyl/disc and it was the last song, and it ending the album with that song rather than blue eyes changes the perspective of the journey of the album, when it ends with blue eyes it’s very harsh there doesn’t really seem to be hope it’s all aggression, but life after life is more positive, it’s showing that there’s a part of him, even if it’s a small part, that feels hope snd feels like things can change, when u said “sometimes there is no resolution sometimes the pain continues” after listening to blue eyes it’s how the album seems to end but there’s more to it, life after life shows that there is the possibility of a resolution even if it’s only a part of him that feels that way. I loved this reaction and ur analysis on it, E might be one of my favourite albums of all time it’s so multifaceted and just beautiful
There's a CD exclusive song (it's uploaded on YT) called "Life after Life", I like it better as a closer for the album, just letting you know :) I could tell beforehand that Icedancer wasn't going to be your thing, I personally would have recommended "Crest", "Exeter" or "Eversince" as an entry for Bladee's discography, I'm sure you'll find those more interesting. Anyway, glad you liked this one, hopefully you will listen to more Drain Gang in the future ❤
you should listen to the bonus track (cd exclusive) called "life after life", it offers an alternative "more positive" ending to "E" !! loved the reaction!
Please do more Drain Gang!? There is more material out there that you will guaranteed like more than Icedancer. As mentioned below by others, Crest is a great combination of the best of Bladee and Ecco2k. Spiderr is also a great Bladee album. Psykos is also fantastic, it's a more indierock collab between Bladee and Yung Lean
Seeing this in the feed made me fall to my knees in Walgreens
Bob, I would recommend Crest, the collab album between Bladee and Ecco2k. They really bring out the best in each other
💯
definitely listen to crest, that album has me kicking my feet and twirling my hair fr
10/10
One of my favorite albums of all time. Life changing

Same. Love the last 2 yves albums
Heaven to a tortured mind is my favorite
yall sleeping on "safe in the hands of love"
@@charmofknlypithe most revolutionary pop album i’ve ever heard!!!
Heaven to a tortured mind and safe in the hands of love are his best imo

Wow completely did not expect for bob to bless us like this
i did a double take bro the bob dg days are coming....
yves tumor, who produced the song AAA powerline, creates some amazing rock music and i HIGHLY recommend listening to their solo work on your own time
the blond of cloud rap
I think that would be Die Lit tbh
@@Pizza_Rat most rtard thing ive read in a minute i hope ur day is going well
I feel like it's more like IGOR than Blonde tbh with the short runtime and unusual song structures.
@@Pizza_Rat i beg ur finest pardon
this is not cloud rap brother
Unc was getting a lil freaky 😭14:03
10:13 the way Bob's laugh was synced with Yung Gud's production made me floating
this is crazy
he did the exact same thing with molasses by earl when he reacted to doris lol
lmaooooo
And on 745 Sticky when he did 1000 gecs
He syncs up every album that’s why he’s the GOAT
this is truly one of the best albums ive ever heard
i love the way bob articulates his thoughts, like bro can paint the picture easily
I'd strongly recommend Exeter if you're into the trippy "draing gang sound" it's an album from bladee, but has some ecco2k features on it
E actually does have a somewhat happy ending, on the CD version there is a bonus track called “life after life”, it’s the most beautiful track from the album.
It's sad that wasn't included on the reaction. It's what made me like the album
You should definitely react to some Yves Tumor, their material is great as well
bob reacting to yves tumor would be transcendental, i hope his discord gets him hip
I commented this too & was looking for someone else, that would be amazing
@@BREATHER_ i feel like he might assume yves is drain gang and just not check it out😭
@@BEASTYMUZIKyeah I was thinking that too. I put an edit on my post kinda loosely explaining his style, hoping he sees it
BOB prepping himself for the goated collab album "Crest"
listening to this album made Ecco2K my favorite artist.
one thing i always think about with this album is all the crazy imagery ecco describes constantly
Doom pfp listening to ecco2k

Yves’s last 2 albums have been some of the best modern rock music being made rn imo. So unique

My favourite album ever. This is such a gentle and personal album, I literally love Ecco so much
Unexpected Múm namedrop, I LOVE that album you're thinking of.
i checked it out when he mentioned it and all i can say is bob has some great taste
I never thought this day would ever come, amazing reaction
51:52 idk if anyone has told you but the resolution is the secret final track, life after life. Please listen to it
You definitely have to check out Yves Tumor, the producer for AAA Powerline. Their albums are insane
U ARE FINALLY DRAINED, i hope u do more album about drain gang member bobobbob
I think doing trash island next would be great that way you can hear all members of drain gang together, productions great.
Trash Island is great
