I’m a menstruating perimenopausal woman. I read your book Fast Like A Girl and I began to fast with excellent results. Then I decided to go against your advice of no fasting the week before my period and fasted to speed up weight loss. Not only did I stall weight loss but my hair began to fall out in strands!! You’re advice is solid!!! This week is my progesterone week and as much as I want to fast, I will not (lesson learned) and will just patiently wait until my estrogen week to do a 36hr fast. ❤

I am currently 9 hours away from completing my 36 hour fast. My question may seem silly. But did your fasting schedule go , fast for 36 hours eat for 12 hours, start your 36 hour fast again for 30 days ? I can't seem to get on a schedule. I'm 187 pounds and very much carry my weight in my stomach I'm perimenopause and would love to be healthier and drop 40 pounds as well. I just don't understand how to schedule my fasts

I put 1 TBS chia seeds in 8 oz of water with lemon juice and 1/2 tsp of ceylin cinnamon. Let it sit 15 min until the chia seeds expand. Drink before a meal, then wait 15 minutes for the fiber to get into your gut. Then eat your meal. The cinnamon also is great for blood sugar.

That's how the French eat... Salad with vinaigrette comes 1st then comes the 2nd dish with meat and 3rd little carb and ends with French cheese and a little espresso. (LOL) That's why eating at a restaurant in France takes forever. I was shocked to see how Americans mix everything like a doggy dish (no offense) but no wonder why we all get bloated and gain weight. It's time to take our time to eat one dish after the other... buffets are fun but not helping us to stay healthy. (borned and raisded in France 🙂)

After 4 weeks I lost 8 cm hip circumference and I lost 4 cm on the waist. My scale is broken, so I haven’t weighed myself. I was shocked about the weight loss on the hips 😅 they gotten so fat. I still have too much body fat, a little pouch on the stomach which I want to lose. I also overhauled my cooking and make now very healthy food for me and my son. It makes me proud and I can totally see the results. Thanks again.

I have started to play the "add-good-ingredients-game", however, I won't count them.
I start with lettuce and cherry tomatoes and cucumber, then I add what I like: nuts, herbs, onion (fried or raw), peas, olives, presley, seeds on and on it goes.😅
The good thing about salad, I am unable to finish my plat because I feel full. The hunger is gone.
When I have stopped to feel hungry because I eat more (fibre), I started to drop weight.
Oh and I do plank pose exercises, just a little like 5 min, but every day. No need to push to the edge. I started with plank on the knees. It makes me feel good to have more strength in the middle section 🥰.

#1 fasting and how to come out of fasting
#2 vinegar and water before meals
#3 eating vegetables as my first meal started of the day, then healthy fat, protein, healthy carbs and maybe something sweet last
#4 eating probiotic every day before or during meals
#5 adding healthy carbs like sweet potatoes
#6 understood when I should focus on lifting heavier weights and when to rest (the rest part I am still working on it)
#7 added some important supplements like magnesium 3 types

I’ve been 18-20 hour IF for 3 years now and running 10k every other day in the early morning. Lately I’ve been feeling more tired when I run. I’m 51yo and just hit menopause. Is my fatigue linked to my menopause w/ running on an empty stomach? Is it recommended to run on an empty stomach? I read a lot of things against that. I run after 14 hours of IF and I break my fast 3 to 4 hours after finishing my workout

I have been using IF, combined with low carb diet and following guidelines from you and glucose goddess food hacks (ACV before meal, fiber before eating actual meal and then eating clean carbs after protein/ fats). Walking daily 30-45 mins and workout (weight lift) 3 days/ week with cold bath few days/week.
I have lost all the weight I wanted, however I am trying to figure out a sweet spot for maintaining the weight loss as I continue to keep same lifestyle.

Post menopausal and have been following the reset in Fast Like A Girl. Have been doing IF for a long time. Eating 35 to 45 grams of fiber a day - lots of salads, greens, and veggies. Doing strength training with dumbbells. Nothing is shifting the excess weight. Particularly the meno belly. Very frustrating.

@@DrMindyPelz thanks! I used to be a member back in 2019 when I did a heavy metal detox through your clinic. I have been using the Keto Mojo to monitor my glucose and ketone levels. My glucose is all over the place. 83 upon waking then 95 before I break my fast. Then reverse the next day. Then up to 103 upon waking and stays there. Clearly insulin resistant. Can’t seem to clear that hurdle. I do primarily WFPB and have had to adapt your reset. Going to try a couple 36 hour fasts to see what that does.

Hi! Great question! In my book, Fast Like A Girl, has a good bit of information on the thyroid, but the generalized advice is longer fasts are not recommended. Hi, Since you're on birth control and don't ovulate, traditional cycle syncing might not fully apply. Still, you might experience hormonal fluctuations that affect fasting. Your readiness to fast on days 24-27 and difficulty during your 'power days' suggest your body has its unique rhythm. Consider tailoring your fasting schedule to these cues instead of a fixed cycle.

It could be what you're eating during your eating window? I'm 55 and was prediabetic 6 months ago. It took about 4 weeks for scales to shift because of the amount of sugar in my system. I've now lost nearly 10 kilos. Keep going is all I can say and break your fast with fat.

Have you been changing it up now and then so that you don't get stuck? Cycle in and out in other words. Maybe 16:8 then 18:6 or 20:4. She suggests 5- 1- 1 as well. You may just need things shaken up a bit.
Personally, I need to restart again. Did great first 8 months, lost 30 and gained 10 after holidays. Just had my gallbladder removed 5 weeks ago and need to see how my body handles the stress of IF. Just got used to eating fats and normal SAD again. Tine to cut way down on grains and bad fats again.
I hope you find a way to get the boost you need to see the weight and inches start going down. ❤

Make sure you're not fasting the week before your period. I was doing well on fasting and then I started gaining the weight back, but it was because the week before my period I wasn't eating more healthy carbs. I was continuing to fast long and not giving myself enough calories or carbs. 3 weeks of fasting is good, but that fourth week as women we need to eat more calories and more healthy carbs or it'll actually throw your hormones out of whack and cause you to retain the weight or gain it back. That's what happened to me. I seen her video about increasing your carbon intake And calorie intake the week before your period and she said it sounds counter intuitive but you need more calories and I thought well I might as well give it a try, I'm not losing any weight and seem to be going in the opposite direction. I ate more calories that week and I weighed myself and I had lost weight! I kid you not. It freaked me right out. She knows what she's talking about! balanced hormones is key. Omad works wonderful for men all the time. But only good for women 3 weeks out of the month cycle. And like another person commented. You also need to switch up. You're fasting so that your body doesn't start predicting when the meal is coming. Our bodies are brilliant and start learning patterns. We need to keep our metabolism on its toes.
