Yes you can but not necessary. Popcorn is locally eaten. Just say “popcorn for making popcorn” or better still show them an already made popcorn picture 😘

I do it this exact same way and my auger gets burnt always, although it pops to an extent.

put the stove in low heat until the first popcorn pops, then medium-high heat and shake every couple of secons (like 15s) so that they don't stick to the pan or burn. That's what i do!
