  • In this video, I replace the Crank Angle Sensor.
For some time, the car has been sometimes hard to start and has suffered with some misfiring, when hot. As a first step to resolving the issue, I have replaced the CAS, a sensor that can cause non start issues.
The sensor can be replaced from the top of the engine bay, and is held in with either an 8mm or 10mm bolt. Use some de-greaser to clean the area, the area is fairly open to the elements. Dirt and other items may actually impede the sensor, so try thoroughly cleaning the area before condemning the sensor.
Later cars have a different, smaller connector. You can solder the older style connector onto a newer style sensor. I was lucky, and managed to buy one of the original, older style connectors.

Sensor available from Joes Garage, Sweden dec 2023.
The hex insert key is metric 5 mm on our Jaguar 1993.
Pins in the connector are circularly placed. Not linear as in later models.

Did you have a video on shifting from a small to a fat connector?
