Everything in this message...everything! Churches don't talk or minister to us about. You are so correct I started to question religion and everything else because I was confused as to why women with no standards seemed to be winning and here I sit...still single. I stopped focusing on THAT and started seeking God more. Some days are better than others and I have my questioning moments but I'm going to stay the course...men mock me...women mock me because I choose to have standards. Thank you guys for this word. Its bad counsel which can lead singles (men and women) down a destructive path..smh. Now I'm leaving it to God and just focusing on HIM and the work HE has called me to do. I needed this messages so much🙏🏾
My experience isn't exactly the same but what I have started saying to people is that it's not that women don't know their worth (an excuse often made to explain why women entertain men who aren't good for them). It's that they have seen no evidence anywhere that knowing that worth makes any difference to outcomes in dating - in the church or outside. It's not that they don't know what they want or what they are worthy of; it's that they have no hope it could ever happen, not because they are somehow without faith but because statistics and experience show it's highly unlikely. There's either like Christian Lite guys who aren't committed to growing or super traditional whackos who think women shouldn't wear pants or work outside the home. I think overall women are at an amazing place in history and in the world. They are light years ahead of most men with understanding and maturity, education, ambition and having their you know what together...yet it's not as though because of that suddenly all kinds of men have become amazing. And they don't seem to be bothered by it either!! A friend of mine had an online date with a guy who didn't even bother to dress up to meet her - he was in pjs or sweats or something. For a first meeting. He is in his 40s and a Christian...and this is not a bad person - but that's just so careless! And don't get me started on communication: how is it you can put less care into writing a human being whom you want to win over than a cover letter for a job? It's ridiculous. I don't run into a ton of Christian men with great emotional maturity - some can barely be just normal and social. So while a woman may want a godly man, and may know exactly what she is worth, and have it reinforced by lots of positive messaging (even sometimes from culture!), she still sees no one who is a committed mature human and Christian, yet alone someone interesting to her that makes a sincere effort. It's almost impossible to not at that point open up to the wrong person who may be seeking your attention simply because they are kind and smart and good - even if they are wrong for you. And on top of that it has been implied our being holy/having standards as women - is what is required for men to also be holy or motivate them into respecting us or growing!! That's just crazy: everyone is responsible for their own standard of behaviour and relationship with God. Yes, we can inspire one another but I don't bear the burden of being the Holy Spirit or God Himself who is the only one who does transformation. Why can't the guys just become motivated on their own because it's the righteous thing to do, like we are? Thank you for coming to my TED talk, end rant
Wow this sermon was amazing !! She’s speaking facts. Although I’m 19 and still a Virgin there were people making fun of me , calling me a nun and anything else you can think of. I’m not gone lie before I grew a relationship with God I let that make me question why I’m saving myself for marriage in the first place , I didn’t have a why. I just knew I wasn’t ready, I didn’t want to do anything that people around me were doing. Now I know that was God protection this whole time and I’m so grateful for that. The same people who said those things about me are the same people telling me now how they wished they waited.... I have no reason to feel ashamed of me being a Virgin. I also have to remember to find people with the same boundaries as me, usually people say they “ respect me for waiting” but I need to be with someone with the same boundaries. I now understand my body doesn’t belong to me, it belongs to my loving father !
CONGRATULATIONS to both you sisters! Now while you wait, find your purpose, calling, gifting and get busy working in it. Develop an intimate relationship with Him and know His voice. I will take God's favor, grace, and mercy over merit all day. It took me until 52 to get here. All you kids out there (anyone under 35), give it up for the Flowers who are giving it to you real. I was so worried that if I didn't take that opportunity as a young woman I'd never have a chance to have the family I'd always hoped and prayed for. Don't believe it! I can still have children despite what "science" and "society" told me. If I had waited though, and allowed God to heal my wounds, I would not have passed down to my 3 beautiful children all my hurts and bad habits. Let your loving Father heal you and yes, let Him be your husband. I can't explain what that is like but I do know now it is real. I am praying over all who hear this message that the enemy's voice would be quieted long enough for you to hear that gentle whisper of our Lord beckoning to you to let Him show you why, as each of you have a purpose in His plan.
I have been so proud of myself for being single for 5 years after my break up with my children's father... I terribly failed last year when I thought the guy I was chatting to was from God and my first question was God don't you think I deserved it after I've been so faithful to you.... His answer was very humbling but today I'm grateful that I went through that heartache and this sermon gave me so much more understanding for why I choose God as my everything. God bless you Pastors. Good on you. Just because he seems attractive physically doesn't mean he's the one God has for you. As Jerry Flowers says, if it's not Kingdom, I don't want it. I'm not even appealed just because people go to Church. Anyone can go to Church, but unfortunately live like the world. Women should want an Ephesians 5 man and men should want a Proverbs 31 woman
I believe when we know our why and become unwavering in those standards, we have to be discerning with regard to who is asking [the reason for our why] because they are genuinely curious vs. those that really just want to mock us out of their own ignorance 🙄 I have learned not to entertain fools because I have nothing to prove to them nor will I allow them to disturb the peace and joy I have in Christ Jesus. You aren't alone sis. There's others of us out here like you. We've got to figure out a way to link up and encourage each other and create a safe space to where we can share our experiences. Trust, I've lost baggage over the years once I began to hear AND listen to His voice. Definitely an acceptable loss and I have avoided so much collateral damage by letting go of what was holding me back and down.

I miss shows like the Cosby's and Family Matters and Living Single. I don't watch tv and I am not on social media, my mental health is at stake. Too many people faking for likes but dying on the inside.
When I have that Kingdom life and go hard for the Kingdom, the enemy come hard for me. But not today Satan! You need to go through Jesus first! And He's not one to be messed with.

Powerful reminder!!!!! "My Why has to be bigger than me"!!!! Needed all of this!! I used to constantly get made fun of when I was in college for being a virgin. A whole decade later with a few slip ups on my purity really made me question my standard. Tragic loss will make you do crazy things but I'm SO glad to be back in the arms and consistency of Jesus again!!!

I used to be guilty when I was being abstinent because I was saving myself , today I plan to keep practicing abstinence because of my gratitude and love for God alone! I owe him that much, our obedience is the least we can do! I just realized it's not about me this year at 33. I've been a church girl my whole life and lived in a way that if I did things the way the church said I had to I would be blessed. I went through a whole season of rebellion bc things didn't work out for me the way I thought they would. I did a 40 day Daniel fast with hopes that God would give me a breakthrough and He blessed me with an open eye and a deeper knowing of who He is. My body is a temple and to submit it to God's will is my reasonable service. I thank God for opening my eyes. It's all about Him Amen 🙏

Seems like the closer I get to God the lonelier I've been simply for those reasons of standards but i rather stay put with God and trust the process and receive the "new" He is bringing to my life.
I feel u on that loneliness! It’s like I’m looking and evaluating errrrything thru new glasses when I met Christ and He is separating me from a LOT of things and people. Stay strong girlfriend that narrow road to the kingdom is worth it 💜
You aren't alone sis. There's others of us out here like you. We've got to figure out a way to link up and encourage each other and create a safe space to where we can share our experiences. Trust, I've lost baggage over the years once I began to hear AND listen to His voice. Definitely an acceptable loss and I have avoided so much collateral damage by letting go of what was holding me back and down.

@@heather7119 indeed! I hate that even Black producers are pushing the narrative of toxic relationships between Black couples and struggle love. I miss shows like the Cosby's and Family Matters and Living Single. I don't watch tv and I am not on social media, my mental health is at stake. Too many people faking for likes but dying on the inside.

Powerful reminder!!!!! "My Why has to be bigger than me"!!!! Needed all of this!! I used to constantly get made fun of when I was in college for being a virgin. A whole decade later with a few slip ups on my purity really made me question my standard. Tragic loss will make you do crazy things but I'm SO glad to be back in the arms and consistency of Jesus again!!!

Shhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeesssshhh there's so much to take away from this . I used to be guilty when I was being abstinent because I was saving myself , today I plan to keep practicing abstinence because of my gratitude and love for God alone! I owe him that much, our obedience is the least we can do!
Also when she peaks on us not knowing and being set and clear on our why attached to our Christianity, it all really does seem like doing the most when in all we're here to mirror Christ and for people to see him through us.

I just realized it's not about me this year at 33. I've been a church girl my whole life and lived in a way that if I did things the way the church said I had to I would be blessed. I went through a whole season of rebellion bc things didn't work out for me the way I thought they would. I did a 40 day Daniel fast with hopes that God would give me a breakthrough and He blessed me with an open eye and a deeper knowing of who He is. My body is a temple and to submit it to God's will is my reasonable service. I thank God for opening my eyes. It's all about Him Amen 🙏
