Thank you so much, yesterday my husband rang a plumber and left a message about our machine not draining , I said give me a chance to look at it…. All done! The plumber called us back and I said I have fixed it-thanks to a video on UA-cam… he said that’s awesome! So you are my hero! Thanks so much!
In 7 years i have never known to clean my washing machine filter. The "trickle" of water for me was a gushing river and totalled 1400ml! Haha. This video is amazing, thank you! I feared I would have to buy a new one but with your guidance I did it on my own. So proud of myself!! I found 6 hair clips, a coin, button, plaster, and lots of sand (I'm a beach girl)!!! Amazing. Plus really appreciated your humour too.
Great demonstration and great video. I have a beko old model washing machine and I was having problems with the draining. The machine was performing all functions except draining. I saw this video and cleared the filter and found so much rubbish and cleared it. Then the machine started working as usual. Thanks and keep up the good work...
Fantastic Lurgs, saved us a call out fee! We found a metal clip from a pen and a “colour catcher” which we often use. Drained, cleaned, screwed back 8n and working now drains and spins again. Thank you!
Thanks for this... My machine wasn't draining and was stuck on 1 minute for about half an hour. Two sink bowls of water later, i find a sock wrapped round the filter!
Thank you so much! Knew I needed to clear out the filter but it was a bit stuck, knowing it can get that way helped. Had to use plyers, gently, to open it. A small (cheap) cushion had burst in there but I also found a coin and hair pin from the previous owners! Time for another clean of the machine once all the crap is worked out. Still loads of stuffing in the pipe, managed to get some out using a small pipe cleaner, running another short wash and will go back and keep clearing it out until it's done. Much appreciated!
You’re a life saver! Didn’t even notice the pipe in the left hand side. Made life so much easier. Managed to drain the water from the washing machine and clear the filter which had a small metal pin blocking it.
Great video, ive checked both the drain and the filter, no result. When its running if I put my hand to the filter i can feel it as if its spinning badly or rattling around, dodgy pump?
Just unscrewed the filter and let water drain out (luckily washing machine I in old outhouse) I found a pound coin and hairclips. Its now running again. Thanks a lot👍
No, not all washing machines have a drainage hose, means you get lots more water out the filter so undo slowly and try to catch as much as possible, have an old towel ready!
Hiya this is super helpful. We have this washing machine and the pipe isn’t there to pull out, do you know how to fix this please or any other solutions as we have no way of draining the left hand side? Thanks so much!
Hello and thanks for the video! What do you do if that spiny thing at the back is a lil tight please? When I move it with my fork it almost has a rubber band bound back feel. So I am not sure if the water can get out. I have ordered that liquid you mentioned and will check the pipework ... just wanna be sure on the spinny thing.
It won’t spin completely freely as it’s an electric motor so it will have resistance, but just check there is nothing trapped around it, like long hair or an elastic band or something
Thank you!!! This was so helpful. And you were right, lots stuck in the filter which made it difficult to remove but got it and all is working perfectly!
No, that is the main drainage hose for when it is running. You will have water inside still. Run a spin programme only then undo filter very slowly and catch as much water as you can with a sponge or a towel. Good luck.
Hey, thanks a bunch for this guide, lifesaver! One question here. Ours was thoroughly blocked with loads of hair bands like you showed in the video. They were mostly tightly wrapped around the turbine which is visible when you remove the filter plug. I managed to get most for these out by pulling them with pliers but there's a bit of hairband which is hopelessly tangled around the spindle of the turbine, and I haven't been able to dislodge it because the pliers I was using just snapped off any length (there is only a mm or two sticking out now from behind so practically impossible to grab). What can be done in this situation? I don't even know if that tiny amount will hamper the filter significantly, but I genuinely don't see how I could remove it anyway if there isn't a way to take that turbine assembly out (I'm guessing there isn't?) because it's just impossible to get to. The only other possibility I could imagine is trying to somehow dissolve the fibres (maybe with bleach)
I had the same problem and I called plumber who cleaned the filter from hairclips the machine look work again fine but it still stuck at the rinse stage not advancing, is it the filter again to check and to drain the water it still not draining?thanks
Tried your first step in cleaning the filter was helpful thanks. But when I put the little blue hose away with that blue cap it disappeared into a hole… 😮. Does it pop back out or is it officially stuck in there? Cause I put my finger in there and I couldn’t touch it so it’s completely gone
Oh dear you need to get that back out, that’s the drainage hose. Hopefully the cap was still on it? Else it could leak. Can’t have gone too far back, try some long nose pliers or similar. Good luck
Mine had a colour catcher in the filter so it wouldn't drain but the little hose only let out a bit of water for a minute then no more yet the machine had a fair amount of water in it. Do you know why? I've never had a washing machine with one of those hoses before so not sure what the issue was
@LurgsHowToGuides I've used colour catcher for 5 years and never had them go into the filter! Putting them in a laundry bag now but I'm just wondering why the drainage hose didn't work. My last machine didn't have one
Excellent video. My beko has been smelling terribly recently. I ran vinegar + boilwash, a bleach + boilwash, a baking soda boil wash, scrubbed the drum and rubber and sprayed a bleach solution into the top of the drum in an attempt to clean the outer drum which may not be getting cleaned during normal washes. I checked and cleaned the filter and drain pipe, cleaned the dispenser draw and where the draw goes but laundry still comes out smelling bad. Also, when I run a drum clean cycle there are bits of 'fluff' floating about as it runs. I'm at a loss at what is causing it. Any ideas? It seems like a major pain in the dick to remove the drum and clean the outer drum and externals of the inner drum.
What if you can’t turn the power off as it’s behind the washing machine and I can’t move the machine by myself?? Would turning off the power with a switchbox in the garage work? Or does the machine need to be completely removed from its area?
I’ve got a beko washing machine but the drainage was leaking so I turned the machine off mid cycle and now I’ve fixed the pipe the water that was in it is not draining
Good morning! My Beko washing machine will not drain or spin. The cycle is showing that it’s ended but it’s still full of water. I know if I open the door it will all gush out. Hubby is at work 😢 if I take the end off the drain hose will the whole lot come gushing out? I might be better waiting till he gets home, but I’m impatient and want to hang it out.
Yes there will be a lot of water! Maybe try a rinse and spin to see if it clears it. Else it looks like there is a blockage somewhere. If water is below the drum glass you can get it out else if it’s on the glass it will pour out fast
@@LurgsHowToGuides thank you, I managed to empty the drum. I had lots of shallow trays, buckets and towels. So far 2 hair clips came out of filter 🫢 I’m just about to clean it with a toothbrush, so very grateful for your informative video 🙏 then hopefully I can get my washing out.
No that should not be happening. Make sure the filter is ok and your drainage pipework. If it's new make sure when you pushed it back into place that you haven't kinked or bent the drainage hose at the back of the machine.
@@LurgsHowToGuides well I managed to open the door with a huge gush of water covering me, so now I'll pull it out take it out and do the filler plug Thank you for replying
@@LurgsHowToGuides I have now put it back by accessing it through the bottom of the washing machine, and drained it but the filter won't budge when I try to turn it anti-clockwise. The reason I am doing this is because my clothes don't smell of detergent at the end of the wash cycle. It's the same as if I didn't put any in. The washing machine also sometimes stops in the middle of the rinse cycle. It finishes the cycle if switched off, then on again and started at the rinse cycle. I cleaned out the drawer too. Maybe part of the problem was that the flap in the drawer was up when using laundry liquid when it should be down?
No that flap doesn’t really make much difference. You need to check the filter, bound to be a metal hair clip blocking it turning. Undo and tighten a lot and hopefully it will work it’s way loose
@@LurgsHowToGuides The washing machine only stops in the middle of the 40 degrees cycle. There is no problem with other cycles like 60 degrees or 30 degrees quick wash,
Hi, I'm having issues with my beko 5140, the filter and blade part are clear and clean, the pipe on the washing machine is likewise clear as is the u bend under my sink. The blade spins but isn't finishing the wash and just seems to be stuck on repeat. Can't figure out how to change it and my clothes are trapped inside.
@@LurgsHowToGuides meant to reply earlier. The issue was the float inside was blocked, so the machine thought the drum was full of water. Managed to unblock it with a toothpick and gave it an intense 60° wash to clear it. Works fine now.
This video was so helpful when i realised it wasn't draining at 10pm on a Sunday night! But i thought to myself, its probably a bloody sock, i dont have hair clips! Haven't used them since before i got this machine! ...it was a hair clip 😳😂😂😂
I have just checked the filter down there but didn’t find any foreign objects, if I do the 90 degree cleaning but the water doesn’t drain and leave in the drum again, what should I do?
@@LurgsHowToGuides The good news is, I cleaned the filter and the tunnel inside, ran a 90 degree wash for about 20 minutes only water as I didn’t have cleaner on hand, it worked, no water left anymore. Thank you so much for your video!
Do you mean the Impeller at 3:08 ? If so that spins really fast and drains the machine, if that has broken then unfortunately it probably needs the whole pump replaced as I think it's one unit
If there is that much water then pull it out and tip it backwards then use the sponge. Should be able to drain near filter but will be a lot of water if it's full. Good luck
Try untightening and tightening multiple times to see if the object clears. It is bound to be a metal hairclip. If not you may have to get a bit more forceful, but be careful as the filter is only plastic. Good luck.

@@LurgsHowToGuides The washing machine only stops in the middle of the 40 degrees cycle. There is no problem with other cycles like 60 degrees or 30 degrees quick wash,
How odd. Not sure why that happens.
Brilliant...thanks Lurgs 👏🏾
No problem, glad you enjoyed the video. Have a Happy New Year and a healthy 2023.
Thank you
Glad to help.😎
Great video I used my partners tooth brush hers is electric
Even better cleaning! 👍🤣
Just tried this and found a sock blocking it. Not it seems to be working great. Thank you
Great news! Just need to find the other sock now to make a pair. Glad to help.😎
Maybe the pump has failed. You should be able to get the door open, this video should help : ua-cam.com/video/bQdniahf0bU/v-deo.html
@@LurgsHowToGuides Thanks, was able to open it by turning it off at the switch. Probably have to get a new pump.
@@toko96 Oh dear. If washing machine is old it may be better to get a new machine. Good luck
@@LurgsHowToGuides meant to reply earlier. The issue was the float inside was blocked, so the machine thought the drum was full of water. Managed to unblock it with a toothpick and gave it an intense 60° wash to clear it. Works fine now.
'Lurgs, have you been using my toothbrush 4 cleaning the washing machine again?' 😹😹😹
Indeed I have 🤣
This video was so helpful when i realised it wasn't draining at 10pm on a Sunday night! But i thought to myself, its probably a bloody sock, i dont have hair clips! Haven't used them since before i got this machine!
...it was a hair clip 😳😂😂😂
Good find! Glad my video helped 😎
Brilliant information and funny too 😂
Thank you, glad it was useful and entertaining. 😎
THANK YOU SO MUCH! So helpful.
Thanks. Hope it’s all sorted.😎
Really helpful Thankyou 👍🏼
No problem. Hope it’s all sorted.😎
I have just checked the filter down there but didn’t find any foreign objects, if I do the 90 degree cleaning but the water doesn’t drain and leave in the drum again, what should I do?
It could be a faulty pump or faulty computer board. Or possibly a blocked drainage hose
@@LurgsHowToGuides The good news is, I cleaned the filter and the tunnel inside, ran a 90 degree wash for about 20 minutes only water as I didn’t have cleaner on hand, it worked, no water left anymore. Thank you so much for your video!
@@0_-EL fabulous news! Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you!!! 😅
Glad to help.😎
Eeek! I’ve just put the blue cap on the emergency hose and the whole hose has disappeared into the machine. Would appreciate some advice - thank you 🙏
You need to retrieve it somehow, maybe some long nose pliers or a vacuum cleaner to suck it out, not a great design that it can do this. Good luck
😂😂😂stop using the Mrs toothbrush 😂😂😂. Thanks for sharing I still couldn't open mine 😢
Oh dear. Hope you get it sorted
Whats the function of the propeller behind 2:50 mine has come apart somehow..
Do you mean the Impeller at 3:08 ? If so that spins really fast and drains the machine, if that has broken then unfortunately it probably needs the whole pump replaced as I think it's one unit
thank you. i will have a browse for a replacement. guess i am hand washing for the meantime.. @@LurgsHowToGuides
Appreciate it 🙏
Thanks. Glad to help. 😎
Thank you soo much you save me lol
My pleasure, glad it was helpful. 😎
Open the door and use a sponge? What happens when all the water runs out?
If there is that much water then pull it out and tip it backwards then use the sponge. Should be able to drain near filter but will be a lot of water if it's full. Good luck
Tired this but the water wont drain from the small pipe and i cant get the filter out. Seems to be jammed
Strange there’s no water, maybe it drained ok. Filter will need to be a bit more forceful, but be careful as it’s only plastic
Thanks buddy really help full you are
A new toothbrush for you
As a 🎁
Thanks. Glad that I could help out today. 😎
Nice 👍
Thanks 😎
Thank you so so much! 💪
No problem. Glad I could help.
Merry Christmas 🎄
i cant open the filter its solid what do i do
Try untightening and tightening multiple times to see if the object clears. It is bound to be a metal hairclip. If not you may have to get a bit more forceful, but be careful as the filter is only plastic. Good luck.
@@LurgsHowToGuides Thanks for you help but i broke it so i bought a new one thanks for the help cheers
I just cant open mine! And the blue pipe thing, well it's fallen behind! And i can't get it out!
Oh dear, hope you can get it sorted
shush about the valves in the street ... some idiots might start causing carnage, haha
👍
When I turn the machine on water comes out of drawer
What if theres lots of water and clothes in it when it got stuck??
Need to empty water first, maybe use a cup or sponge to drain it out
I'm running the washing machine for first time after a house move? Won't drain
Sounds like drainage pipes are blocked at the house (if machine worked before)
What if no water is coming out the pipe either? 😬
That’s odd, just undo the filter very slowly as you will probably get a lot of water out of that and will need to soak it up
Mine ubfortunately doesn't appear to be so simple. No blockages. It just will not drain it is spinning but it's sopping.
Oh dear. Could be a faulty pump or computer error. Time for a call out or decide if you ca afford a new machine. Good luck
I can't get the filter open? It's stuck!
Bound to be a metal hair clip. Try undoing and doing up lots of times to see if it clears it, may have to get a bit more forceful with it. Good luck
I've done all this but it's still not working 😢
Not sure I’m afraid, could be a faulty pump maybe
I don't know what happened my machine Don't show end when left one minute starting again and water not draining
Hope you can get it fixed.
I used my wife's toothbrush and now she is mad😂
Best Buy her a new one 🤣
@@LurgsHowToGuides Got her electric one and she is happy as washing machine is working fine now
Thanks

I can’t get the filter out 😭 washing machine is full of water and kids school uniform 😩

Top clip 👍 use missus tooth brush. Got it 😂👌
Thanks. Yeh never use your own Toothbrush!😄
