The group that restored the hero car for Bob gale, were fans that had built their own cars so precisely that they could pass for the original. after seeing their dedication to authenticity , he hired them to restore the car.
So cool. I saw that exact DeLorean at Universal Studio's Hollywood sitting outside with a single 3 foot chain around it so people wouldn't sit on it. That was in 1998 and it looked normal then and I guess sitting there till 2011 will ruin it. Was probably there at least 10 years before I saw it. Thank you, so rare to know a real fact and seen it with my own eyes. I guess the car beside it was an actual screen used Magnum PI Ferrari 308. I wonder what happened to that with it's faded paint and the top down to the elements? No chain around that one. I should have sat in it but maybe I would have been kicked out of the park so didn't.
I walked past the A car every day going to work at Universal. One morning, I noticed the stainless steel piece in front of the bumper was crumpled. Apparently, someone from vehicle services drove it through the park and hit a concrete trash can.
There's a guy in New England somewhere that has to BTTF 3 DeLorean that was used to drive through the desert with the 1950's wheels at the beginning of the movie
Sorry, this is misinformation. The BTTF 3 DeLorean actually belongs to the Shae's and resides in Massachusetts. Last time I saw the car, it was at the BTTF exhibit at the Hollywood Museum.
Interesting bit of info on that car as well it's not actually a Delorean it's actually a VW sand rail with a Delorean body on it to make it capable of off-road driving for the desert scenes. That is why it has the different wheels and sits so high
I don't know why movie studios just scrap these iconic props (cars, models, etc). If the movie is a hit and the props become iconic, they can be sold for hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars. That's money the studios are just walking away from.
The Twin Pines Mall/Lone Pine Mall is actually the Puente Hills Mall in the City of Industry, CA. I went on quite a few movie dates there back in the day. And nowadays you can’t even get past 15 mph in that parking lot much less 88, even if you have a car that will do 0-60 in 3 seconds. 😄😄😄
'Hey CarStarz you bulit a time machine out of delorean ' ah not this time wasn't your work but at least now your never going to be late for anything ever 😂😂 so thank you my buddy on giving us the facts on yet another icon of the 80s as i felt that franchise was untouchable for all us in our lives but as you know hollywood will reboot into overly tedious, awful, despicable to source material by making it 'for the modern times' excuses 😖😖 that nowadays is why we moviegoers have had it with studios antics anyway thanks for the video and have a nice day bye now.
Heard that the mall scene car was swapped to a Porche engine.Dont know what architecture, whether a boxer or a 928 V8 was used.Seems Micheal Fox stated that in an interview. Not sure.
I don't think that's correct as stated in the video, they never swapped a v8 porsche into delorean it was all stock engine, in reality used sounds form other sources to make delorean sound cool in the movie.
Problem is the Delorean had it's power lessened to meet environmental regulations of California. The European version was closer to 150hp which was more impressive to our eyes, as we were all used to 1.6 four cylinders 100hp aproximatively for sport cars ( but with a poor mileage lifespan ). To have a good idea of what we had : a Peugeot 205gti ( our former little rocket ) was doing the 0 to 60 in 9 seconds which was also the case of a Delorean but with higher gear ratio to be confortable on highway and with a good mileage lifespan. Of course the best performance was with the manual transmission, automatic offered poor results with that car has any other cars that were not at least 5 liters ( Big german cars were the only european models able to handle automatic ). The High end Renault and Peugeot cars used the V6 of the Delorean at that time it was for the heads of salesman in various companies who were often traveling through the country on the Highway to meet clients and suppliers. Good advantage was the chassis is a Lotus frame so despite being less powered than a muscle the car would be beast on narrow roads with tight turns. Ultimately, horsepower stages had been developed for this engine by the new owners of DMC and V8 swaps were done with the original DMC gearbox by some american car enthusiasts who showcased that on UA-cam.

Lovely it's been restored. I have a pic of it sat next to the A-Team van at universal back in '96. Looked a bit worse for wear then

Indeed, yeah, not sure what happened to the 308.

Glad I found your channel just subscribed 👍🏻

Sad for sure, but just considered disposable hunks of metal for most studios.

Bonus tidbit for this fact, they needed a 2 mile run up for the speed.
,,,assuming it made it that far without blowing up the motor 🤣
I always knew that the symphony out of exhausts can't be the original PRV6 voice 😁

Lol, true enough 😉👍
They also only had it all freeze up with ice once because it took so long to do, and the flux capacitor cable are HT leads.
When you look at the science involved in making a DeLorean travel through time like it does in the movie, that's some serious shit.
Lol, indeed 😉
The time circuits didn't work like they appeared to in the movie until the team restored the 'A' car.
the car used in the third movie with the white wall tires still exists

Indeed, if I had one magical wish it would certainly be for a working time machine!😉

What happened to the vw bus? Any details on that?
Lol, that I don't know as I'm not a fan of old VWs myself.
The Libyans blew it up 😅

what about Doc's Packard from the 1955 part?
Yeah, I'll get to that one and Marty's truck at some point 😉👍
The Packard was loaned to the production by a private owner. I believe the Ultimate Visual History covers that in a bit more detail.
The cars engine sound was from a Porsche 928
The car’s engine sound was actually from a 83 Chevy suburban or blazer with a 350ci v8
I heard it was a Porsche 928 engine sound.
