In this explore we visit a crazy Mansion that was abandoned over 10 years ago. Not a lot of information is known about the owner other than they tried to set it up as a hotel which failed.
Now sadly left to decay this massive mansion will hopefully get the care it needs.

Some history for you. It used to be owned by the Viscountess Masserene and Ferrard and was one of the first (we heard the first) to be built using a steel structure. It was later purchased by a Polish couple who opened it up for Polish refugees after the war who wished to settle in the UK. It was then run by the same couple as a residential home for elderly people up until 1988 which is when my parents purchased. Together with my parents, my brother and myself refurbished the whole place and converted it into an 18 bedroom hotel. Virtually everything in there was purchased new, there are very few antiques in the house. Unfortunately despite doing really well and gaining a great reputation for the hotel and the restaurant after the first first year of opening we were hit with 15% interest rates and the recession. The bank took possession and tried to sell it as a going concern but it was eventually sold to a private individual who clearly did nothing with it. It has been a real trip down memory lane watching this video but tinged with sadness that this grand old house has ended up in this state.

Thanks for the history Amanda, I'm sorry things didn't work out for your family, it must have been hard to watch this as you obviously have memories. Hopefully the house will be saved as its beautiful but you can see it's now quite neglected isn't it. Fingers crossed 🤞

It actually wasn't a refugee centre... It was a hotel mostly for wealthy English people. But it was also sort of a cultural place where British Polish artists, scientists etc. Would gather or send their kids for camps.
Goddamnit...every time I go out to the shops I come back to find my home full of urban explorers.

Peo0le do this stuff all the freakin time. People like you negative Nancy's need to find something else to do. All yall wanna do is ruin channels by making comments such as this. We all know there is alarms on some of these houses. As long and they don't steal anything I don't see the harm of exploring an abandoned house/building. If you don't live it go watch something else. It's that simple.
There’s properties like this all over the world! And this shows off when someone has to much money! They buy something like this and never sell it but rather let it rot into the ground. Amazing!!

And power is still connected and alarms are still connected. This place isn’t abandoned, it’s someone’s home and they waited for them to be gone and broke in. This is criminal and I’m disappointed the alarm company never sent the police.
Because everything they give you is a MOVIE set or orcastrated EVENT!!

Someone somewhere is still looking after this property let's face it would you walk away from a house of this magnitude the fact that electricity is still on, no dust appears to be on the furnishings and the outside area appears to still be getting attended to.

Yeah they are looking after it that well that it has rot and mould Everywhere. It's most probably a foreclosure by the bank and the only value to the bank is the land

Someone is paying the light bill and the alarms are going off. Those two things alone should tell you that this is not an abandoned property.
The Alarms have been going off for weeks or months. NO one is paying any mind to the estate.

I would call it Edwardian style with all the peaks! Pretty cheeky wandering around in a house that looks like it’s still being taken care of. The power is on…someone’s paying the bill!

The walls are covered in black mould in many rooms, which is really bad for you over time
The place is closed for the season. Notice most of the upholstered furniture and beds have dust covers on them

Bro someone is living there. You could tell by the little to NO DUST in most of the rooms, the clean bathrooms and tubs. No bugs everywhere. This looked more like someone summer place or something like that....lol
There are people still looking after this property. Everything still pristine. Magnificent.

*BREAKING AND ENTERING* IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT!! You hit the nail on the head. It baffles my mind, as to how these "Urban Explorers" have taken it upon themselves to determine what is, and isn't abandoned. I've seen videos of these "marauders" in houses they have deemed abandoned, 'Bcuz hey, they passed it three times, and three times they saw no one there. Yet insude, fully furnished, No dust, at times there are shoes, clothing. Linen on the bed. Look at this. It's abandoned. I really feel this is the umbrella they will attempt to use, if they ever get caught. There are more than one alarms going off. Plus, these people here actually show themselves breaking in. Usually they show the outside of a declared abandoned structure. Next view, they are miraculously inside. There is NO way all these homes are unlocked. The AlarmsvClearly State They are Tresspassing. Talk about a violation of one's privacy. The effing *GALL* and entitlement to just violate ANY ones personal space is beyond comprehension. There is going to come a time. Mark my words. And the defending person will be in the right. Let's not forget the young 20 yr old that was attempting to pull a prank unbeknownst. Pretended to rob a group of people , in the HIood no less. Well. He is now pushing up daises over trying to pull a senseless prank. Not to mention the devastation the defending young man must feel. The trauma of fearing for his life, ultimately defending his life by ending the pranksters ever so young life with a bullet. Some one will be in one I f these situations here.. It's also one thing to urban explore (break and enter), Then to have the nerve to go through these peoples belongings. I don't for one minute think they are leaving All articles of value behind as they all claim. Listen to this idiot. They still got clean laundry in there. What is going on?

There is a difference between abandoned and no-one home today.I think this is an intrusion on someone's privacy considering the amount of technology in the house. I love to see abandoned buildings but I don't condone breaking and entering.
Completely agree with you. I wont even finish watching this one and wont subscribe. They're not respecting the code of urban explorers and they're breaking the law.
@@laurie4275 You do not know if it is lived in or not so stop this saying it is.I would think they asked around a bit to see if it was lived in. i walked into a big old home about 5 years ago and the lights and water were still left on, but i asked the closet neighbor about it . and she told me that not one person had lived there in more then 20 years.Sometimes the electric company simply forgets place out of the city once it was ordered turned off and someone just plan forgot to go and do this.The tech you see in the house is not new at all most is more then 10 years old and that includes the flat screen TV i had one many years ago the same model.

It is clearly owned by someone, whether they have been there in recent years, or not. This particular property was an obvious break in, therefore illegal, any way you want to condone it.

How awesome this place is. I hope someone restores it before it gets worse. Seeing old to modern things inside is so strange. I love the pool table and would have had to shoot a couple balls around. Great walk through. Thanks

The furniture were covered with sheets. The occupants perhaps just went away for a vacation for a long period of time. Sometimes people go to another country for half a year to visit relatives. In addition, the alarm should have been a warning to trespassers!!
it's been empty for at least 7 years but is being remotely monitored. Ground staff are likely still employed to do routine maintenance

Someone is obviously maintaining that place. No dust anywhere. This whole thing had made me uncomfortable. Don't think I'll watch any more.
I’m an American boy, just stumbled across this. Cheers for showing parts of the UK that we all never see. I think there’s a world view ( at least one held by myself at any rate) , that there are no wild or hidden places left in the U.K. Pretty mesmerizing stuff, mate, good deal.

Don't believe all you read Peter, just go on Google earth and look around the South of England, so much countryside, and nature reserves. And of course, places like this 😉👍

That place isn’t abandoned, it’s owners just aren’t home. You don’t keep paying the light bills and alarm for a place you never want to see again.
Absolutely loved this house, I'd need a Tomtom to find my way back out though 😄
It was strange as there were some beautiful rooms and parts of the house, then you'd find some really basic old damp rooms. A lot of mould growing in places so if the people who own it don't get that eradicated soon, the house will be ruined. The views from some rooms were just beautiful, I hope the house is saved as it has so much potential.

Hopefully the owner sees this video and decides it’s time to be more present. Love these old properties. They should be nurtured and loved or have a team look through thinking it’s abandoned.
So none of the doors were locked? These guys crow barred their way in?? If you don't want ppl in your home, lock the doors and windows. Who leaves the front door unlocked when they leave?

This land would be mega bucks in todays market for sure! It baffles me as well, but as long as I'm getting to look around these places, I'm not complaining 😉👍
Could be a foreclosure, the land would be the value to the banks not the building. Part of foreclosures also means leaving the valuable asset behind.

If it was truly abandoned, they wouldn't have the electricity on and a working security system. These fools are trespassing on private property.

It always bothers me when explorer's touch and move stuff without putting it exactly the way they saw it , that's a beautifully kept property by its caregiver.

You guys should look at the dates on things.. you missed taking a good look at a calendar, and batteries that have a expiration date. This could give you idea of when someone was there last.

at 30:25 that look like the Weihrauch HW77K Laminate air rifle, a fairly expensive and very good air rifle, quick note, dry firing usually doesn't do it a great deal of good, truly cant believe people would just walk away from this place

Why does this happen ? Can understand Family disputes , legal disputes etc, but they seem to go on for so many years and everything is just left to rot. Really sad and really it’s criminal waste.

Honestly doesn't it make u wonder what happened to these people to just leave everything there like that and for the alarm to be going for so long and no one to be checking on it, what's the point having one if u don't have it watched by anyone like security and finding that gun wow and all that stuff, wonder if his in prison or something makes u think doesn't it, great explore Alex enjoyed this one thanks for sharing 👍🤘💖
It's a very strange situation this one, I mean, at one point they had the cctv and alarms working. But must have just got fed up with the upkeep of security.

@@VacantHaven its a seriously odd one - why or how would you just feck off and leave a load of gear in the house that belongs to you and just not return for over a decade? it makes no sense, i think someone might have been squatting there but nobody is "living" there - no chance, alarm going off for weeks on end etc doesnt indicate anybody living there or even taking care of it - the amount of disrepair around a lot of the house and damp etc again does not indicate anybody looking after the house or living in it - parts of it appear to have been covered up sheets over seats etc which again is really strange, i think someone with dodgy money has bought it on the run an then had to move on again...
