I've been a fan since her 1st ablum. Took my 5 yr old son to her 1st big tour in USA. He sat on stage most of the show. It was in a little place in Memphis called Omini New Daisy Theater on Brill at. It was awesome. I saw her again in Reno NV 2016. & got up to stage again & got to shake her hand. She was as awesome in 2016 as I first seen her in 1988. I plan on seeing her again in July this year. It must have been a pretty good concert for my son Ryan because he's been going to concerts ever since. We took him when kids didn't go to concerts. She was playing & seen Ryan on his Dad's shoulders & all most stopped playing & she told the other members of the band to look at the kid.
Connie Marrocola, I’ve been a Melissa Etheridge (more than an ordinary) fan since the first whisper I heard of her in the 1980s. I was a Wild 20 something back then. I have her albums from the first one. Last few years, I’ve fallen behind in my collection. But, I’ll catch up soon enough. You said something about her first US tour? Do you mean Melissa performed outside the US??? I had no idea!! Really? I’ve been lucky enough to be able to see her perform in many venues all over CA. But, even in small ones, I still never had the opportunity to get up on stage and shake her hand. Lucky, lucky you and son! I must admit that I’m jealous as hell. 🎵 💜 😎
Ironic, this. She sings "The tune inside your head that put you here in the first place..." and here we are, watching her sing and rock out this darkly funky tune over 20 years later!
look me in the eye and let me know if u cant to love me then let me go.......baby in ur darkest hour am i the keeper of ur peace well i dont wanna be....so let me go....... love this one actually all of her songs certain lyrics u just gotta love....
Love this album. Love, love this album. For some reason with this song, I always imagined that the ultimate audio compliment to Melissa’s wail & fire would have been, in a longer intro and in the ending instrumental sequence, some “Birth of the Cool” smooth solo by Miles Davis on muted trumpet. The perfect ice to balance Melissa’s blue-hot flame. This is great as is, but would have been legendary with that added piece.
I agree with you about having to 'play straight', but Julie Cypher directed videos of Melissa are a guilty pleasure, amongst my favourites. Great quality on these veve releases, what has happened to all the fans?
@gracina123 She openly admits using weed- medical of course. She's on one of the pro medical marijuana documentaries. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and what an amazing talent. She's the one I get out when my heart gets broken, has been since 1990.
I loved her music before she came out and I love her music after. She speaks to me.
Same, Euni. ~ Tam
I cut my teeth on this woman, vocally....she's the queen...

Yes ; " the Tune inside my head that put me here in the first place". Thank you for an excellent posting, this song's the Limit.
Now *this* takes me back! The bassline always stuck with me; that's Kevin McCormick on bass, there.
Saw her in concert for this album's tour. One of the best show I ever saw. Just amazing performer.

Shame Melissa had to play it so 'straight in this video. great hot summer's night funky hook.
Filmed and released in 1990, directed by Julie Cypher.
tippngthevelvet, IKR?? I saw that, too. It was very strange to watch the Straight act. Thank G*d she didn’t really have to continue with that act.
I fancy myself a huge Melissa fan, but I have never seen this video. Shame on me! 😂
