Taj Mahal was always there forever. During my childhood...We used to visit very often...Shopping at Koti, Abids, Tiffin/dinner at Taj Mahal used to be a very routine thing...
And that Upma is legendary...With lot of ghee and kaju...And to end with coffee... Just Wow!

Taj Mahal hotel is an emotion for many every Hyderabadi middle class family.
But i have heard their foods are expensive
Mainly for vegetarians . Its a nice restaurant don't get me wrong but getting emotional about regular food.....???

Hey @VeggiePaaji I'm a Hyderabadi and this place is my favourite haunt! Nothing like their veg cutlet, coffee and yes their Puri and Thali! I visit it every weekend for their cutlet. Thanks for highlighting this place which is now a part of the city's Heritage!

I love my indian culture where we are taught to eat by hand. Nowadays people sort of see it as a form of indisciplined behaviour and generally prefer to eat by spoon. But I still consider the hand eating method to be the ultimate one.
I'll be honest depends on how u were raised and what u like for ex I eat rotis with hands but rice with chopsticks cuz I'm used to it and it can't be changed

@Neeraj Bhai lekin mujhe kam se kam hindi bolne me sharam nahi aati hai. Lekin bahut sare logon ko haath se khana khane me sharam mahsoos hoti hai aur wo log ise mannerless behaviour samajhte hai. Maine bas English me isliye likha kyoonki South me bahut sare jagah, log abhi bhi hindi bolne ya samajhne me struggle karte hai. But English is a language that people all over the country understand .

But if u are not ashamed of eating rice by hand then it's totally fine and then it's up to u to choose the cutlery : be it a chopstick or nature's cutlery - the hand.

I am from Delhi and have lot of friends in Hyderabad and Bangalore. I love them all as very nice folks so humble and honest. Food is just amazing and therapeutic. I like South India so much. Food itself is a medicine here which will keep you clam and healthy

Two things- rice and podi is main in Andhra meal but a side dish for idli and dosa in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Second, in Andhra meals you start with podi, then move on to pappu, sambar and then rasam and then yogurt rice and finally sweet. Poori and all that is extra which you can have anytime
