- In this video I feature ways to upcycle Dollar store and thrifted items into winter decor for your home. I show many projects creating budget friendly pieces you can use in your home for Christmas or any occasion. Decorating your home does not have to cost a lot of money and it's also fun to transform items to fit into your home decor style. Lots of decor projects that are easy, budget friendly and lots of fun to make! Many of the supplies to make these fun projects can be purchased from a thrift store, yard sale, Dollar Store or Amazon. I show how you can take simple and inexpensive supplies and turn them into fun and easy decor for your home! I am watching this on Sunday, Jan 8th before I get ready to go to church. Sherry from Cantaberry Cottage spoke about you in a recent video so I wanted to check you out. I am and avid leaf collector going back to childhood walks with my mom in our farm community where I grew up and in the 80s to the early 2000 with my grandmother in Front Royal, VA to now walks with my 84 year old Dad in a beautiful new park the county has made. We have the Gingko trees in the park and I love to make butterflies out of the golden leaves and just lay on the vintage desk in my foyer. When I went to Hungry with my mom in 1995 I collected leaves from one park and I framed them when I came home in non glare glass and gave it to my grandmother. When she passed away I rec'd the framed leaves back and now my mom passed away in 2021 so the framed leaves are extra special. I cannot tell you what type of trees drop a certain pod but when they hit the ground they break open and the inside looks like owl faces. I collect owls so I want to save them and paint a tree branch in canvas and hot glue the pods on the branch.
I am currently in a sea of boxes with inky kitchen items unpacked and clothes and a few art supplies. I am overwhelmed having to move out of my mom's house and move elsewhere. I moved to a little town I have always wanted to live in, it's the oldest part of Arlington, VA. I never ship on Sundays but today I am going to make an acception and hope I will still be ok with God. The Variety Store within walking distance to me everything is 50% off of Christmas decor and Christmas crafts. I sell at craft sales and I always tithe my craft sale money too. By the time I get home from work the store is closed so I can only go today.
I enjoyed your ideas. I use to make wreaths all the time and haven't for a long time. In a vintage bowl I always display the rag rug balls left from an unfinished projects of my grandmother's. She made rag rugs every day and sold them at a large sale every Saturday in Winchester, VA. Her fingers stated straight and I am getting arthritis already but I work in a very cold warehouse and my carpal tunnel is so bad I have given myself a break from the glue gun as I have so much unpacking to do. You are the perfect example how creative and outside the box ideas and inspiration float into your mind. We are surrounded by woods on all three sides up in our little cottage home in Northern Wisconsin. I am an avid bird watcher and gardener and spend as much time outside as possible. We cut the grass and rake the leaves multiple times every year. Not once in my 50 plus years have I ever looked at a leaf the way you have shown me today with your leaf diy. Teresa you have a gift from the good Lord above and bless your heart for sharing it with all of those people out here like myself who only wish we had a fraction that gift. I love all your projects. The leaves remind me of my childhood. My dad would take us on a Sunday drive and we would get fall leaves and other outdoor stuff and come home and decorate. Good memories.

Adorable trees made from leaves and your winter wreaths are so pretty. I mod podged plaid paper napkins on small stretched canvas frames. I glued button trees sitting in button snow with wood pieces from the yard for the trunks. I made 4 for friends and had quite the assembly line🎄
I'm chiming in with everyone else that the leaf trees are genius! I might be able to still find some that would work if they don't end up getting too buried under the snow that we're supposed to be getting right before Christmas. That project won't end up happening until after Christmas because I'm too far behind as it is.

I absolutely love the little trees from leaves. Those are so pretty. This is the first year I'm thinking about winter decor. After Christmas I usually just wait until spring but have always hated the after Christmas emptyness 😅 I want to find more winter themed decor that will work until I'm ready for spring proper. Your projects are so inspiring.
I love the oak-leaves-turned-pine trees! We have a foot of snow on the ground here in southern Minnesota but I can probably find some good leaves still on the trees since oaks hang onto many leaves until spring. Great way to use up small leftover pastel colors and white yarn pieces too, make snowballs!

A less expensive option on the feather boa wreath is picking up the fur infinity scarfs at DT - they fit those wreath forms perfectly!

You can start your yarn balls with a ball of crunched tin foil. It's easier and uses less yarn... or you can make bigger balls.

*Great projects, Teresa...the trees were my favorite❣️ The leaves would also be beautiful hot glued onto a pool noodle wreath and spray painted gold, embellished with a large white poinsettia blossom instead of a bow. I would add gold glitter to the stamens of the poinsettia for added sparkle, too.*
