I have come back to this video a few times now. The performance is so impressive! Having played instruments when I was younger, I can only imagine what that sheet of music looks like in front of her.. so technical.
I was there for this concert and it was absolute bliss. To listen to what... two and a half hours of John Williams' music, a man who might be reasonably called the finest composer of film music EVER (which is a big claim, I know, and I don't make it lightly) and played by people of the calibre of Annelien Van Wauwe... what a privilege.
i really liked the performance and your interpretation of the piece
Just love this. X
This was something for me as an artist,Great Playing lady!
Brynjar Hoff
Fabulous rythmiez and clarinette, God !
I've watched your video some time ago and loved. Now that I'm playing this piece myself I've dug more into it and I'm appreciating it even more...
Wonderful in every way (except a conductor who can't). Brava Ms. Wauwe!
Fantastic
Very interesting interpretation of the solo. This has a very jazzy, very playful, and dance-like approach. I love hearing the difference between the score for the film, and Emily Bernstein's interpretation to the scoring session, and the far more free version with Annelien Van Wauwe...
THIS is a great example of why I far prefer acoustic performers over sound libraries any day of the week. The musicians all have their own approach to the solos, and the variation of how those solos are performed shows a very human aspect that I find beautiful. It's not mechanical, Mrs. Annelien was not trying to be like Mrs. Bernstein; she made that solo her own, and gave it a new flare, a new richness I was not expecting.
As a composer/conductor myself, I let my soloists shine and do their thing. While it is important to keep to the notes, HOW they are performed I like to leave to the soloists. It makes it that much more beautiful when the the music goes beyond mechanical clicks. When music has personality, it shines, just like in this case. Well done!
Hermoso, magnífica ejecución, expresión y sonido. Una magnífica artista 😍 Felicidades!!!
Wonderful !!
Bravooooo!!!!!
Omg heel mooi gedaaaannn😳😳🥰🥰 moet dit voor mn D examen gaan doen maar ooffff wat mooi
John Williams was recognised by me without looking at the title:)
Fantastic👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Bravissima
Bravo Annelien!
Very nicely done, personally I prefer the more soulful and spirited versions of this piece.
bravaaaaaaa !!!

Здравствуйте, я кларнетист, хотел бы сыграть это произведение, может будет партитура для духового оркестра?
jeez, the second page is kinda hard
waauw!
Note the use of the third finger, right hand, for high G instead of the second finger, at 4:41
No matter what you say, I still can't notice it! What's your way of playing high G? I prefer first, third, fourth, sixth, and the speaker key (Ab key)!
Very good. Actually I prefer original interpretation nevertheless an amazing work :)
Se paso. . .de sabor!!!! je je je
Is this the Klezmer version?
I would say yes. Emily Bernstein recorded it originally with John Williams.
what an absolute smokeshow!
Navorski, the goat
I've seen better, but this is still MUCH better than me! ;)
Great performance but any other clarinet players cringing from the reed at all?
I'm honestly not a fan of how she's swinging the notes. doesn't fit the mood of the piece in my opinion
Mr. Krabs I thought the same. I’ve done this one several times, and from memory....if you’re soloist w an orchestra of this caliber should know the piece that well. Great dress !
Possibly this marks me as a philistine but I prefer her performance to the original
l'orchestra è grande , la clarinettista lo interpreta in un modo che non mi piace , e in una parte sbaglia pure note
EXACTO!!!, como decirlo, algo así como "muy cargado y exagerado" la interpretación.
Bit too slow
Didn’t she take the time to listen to the original? Fairly disrespectful to the memory of Emily Bernstein.
And the klezmer touches?🤮🤮
awful solo !!
I think it sounds pretty good and I like the jazzy interpretation and it’s played with lots of emotion
The tempo is a little too slow for my taste but otherwise a clean performance.
❤️
The clarinet solo is absolutely well composed. I really love the soloist's interpretation. I play clarinet as well. I wish I could play this in the future
You should really give it a try. It is so much fun!
