    I wish the Lakers were contenders during the 2006 & 2007 seasons. These were Kobe’s best individual seasons of his career and both ended in the first round. Imagine him averaging 40 for an entire series against the Spurrs or Mavs . My first season watching hoops was 1991 so I missed out on young Mike so these prime Kobe seasons were the most impressive offensive displays I’ve ever seen. When he scored 40 you’d half expect it. You’d be more surprised when he didn’t. These weren’t James Harden empty stat stuffing either. The Lakers needed him to score at an all time high as well as play all league defense . Most impressive 🤔😅

    • @wangtang12
      @wangtang12 9 днів тому

      @vanslang5385 not the that impressive. He sacrificed the team success to score a bunch of points while not even shooting greater than 45%. Not that impressive

    • @vanslang5385
      @vanslang5385 9 днів тому

      @@wangtang12 you got it backwards my guy. The little team success the Lakers had those years were primarily the result of Kobe’s brilliance. These Lakers were between the 3 peat squad with Shaq & the back to back team with Paul (a playoff team, in the loaded West) Typically if a player was just gunning with no regard for winning he’d be putting up a bunch of empty stats (high FG#s while having a worse record when scoring at or above your average vs when you score less) One of the reasons these seasons were so special for a team that lost in the first round in back to back seasons was watching Kobe will the Lakers to wins they had no business having such as beating the Mavs in 2006 (who went to the Finals btw🤔) while out scoring them by himself by the end of the 3rd, 62-61. That same year when he put up the video game stat of 81 points he brought his team back from nearly 20 points down to a comeback win. Just the two most famous games he did this over the course of these two seasons. As far as his shooting %, that’s what was the biggest difference between Mike & Kobe. Mike was more efficient from the field than Kobe. That said for the vast majority of Kobe’s career 1998-2013 he shot 45-47% from the field which is just good enough to consistently win titles in the NBA (look it up; since 1991: the year I started watching no team has won a title without their best player shooting at least 45% overall from the floor: except maybe the 2004 Pistons, who might be the exception to every rule & stereotype there is🤔🙄😆

  • @CJ-vh2hf
    @CJ-vh2hf 15 днів тому

    I did wanna point out also the comment on Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 point game was off, the Knicks actually tried to slow the game down by holding the ball so he couldn’t make it to 100 points! Also the running myth that he played against players are much shorter is a little overstated, actually presently the discrepancy between the tallest and shortest players is greater now than when we played!

    He was absolutely the best player in the world when he was in the Finals without Shaq. Never let a LeQueen stan or a lack of MVPs tell you otherwise. A reminder that in 2008 he torn a ligament on his shooting hand in the regular season, wrapped up and learned how to shoot with it. Ended up all the way to the Finals with it and beat that Orlando Magic team easily. The same team LeBalco failed to beat and make it to the Finals to meet Kobe, which would have settled this stupid argument. R.I.P. to Kobe Bryant, one of the most influential and one of the GOAT 💯
