Battle passes really take the fun outta everything, I had to quit both cod and ow2 just to get my sanity back because it felt like more of a job than my actual job

Yeah. Battlepasses became such a chore at a point in games like paladins and dauntless. I got to a point trying to play more than I normally would just to get cosmetics....honestly at a point it was draining. And now I'm a lot more busy with work and real life responsibilities. If these companies want to include microtransactiins into their game then the game should be a total of $40 max on release. $70 games should be reserved for games that are complete on release with added on content being unlockable via unscarce in game resources. These companies lied in our face talking about new technology more resources but yet pump out incomplete games and look for ways to nickle and dime the customer at every turn. We are too passive as gamers, we need like a legal gaming committee that signs a CBA every 7 years or so with these big gaming companies to ensure that the players are not being taken advantage of. Fighting games have always been "live service" even when it was not technically feasible. Remember buying Street Fighter II on the SNES for $74.99 back in 92' then Capcom immediately releasing Championship Ed. to still vacuum your Quarters? The have SF Turbo come out about a year later on SNES for another $74.99 only to immediately release Super SF to vacuum your quarters. Then Super SF at $74.99 on SNES only for Super SF Turbo and on and on for the entirety of the 90's. I am surprised fighting games have not had season passes the whole of the Internet age. Especially considering the lack of growth in the FGC, if these companies can't count on new customers to buy their products they will milk their existing customers. The reality is if you don't like the season pass, don't buy it. No biggie.

I have mixed reactions when it comes to SonicSol and the whole situation. On one hand, i understand where he is coming from. He was doxxed, harassed, bullied all simply because he talked shit (and was a bit of a coomer.) However, his reaction to the whole situation saying he was hoping to meet some of the people who had been messing with him irl in tournaments ON STREAM where he proceeded to have a full blown meltdown. It's one thing to be the victim, but you need to keep your cool especially if you're a competitor. Otherwise, places like evo see this shit and if you don't keep it cool as ice, they may see you as a potential threat not only to others, but even to them as a business.

The video that got Sonic Sol banned was a clip of him threatening all of EVO Japan and everyone there. It was in regards to a player named "Gnar" and has nothing to do with Punk. I have nothing against Sonic Sol, in fact I actually do agree he gets a lot of unjustified hate. However, you can't go around saying you're gonna show up to EVO and hurt EVERYONE there. Good on EVO for taking any threats seriously and keeping people safe.

The reason sonicsol had a meltdown is not because he was getting harassed or baited, he challenged someone to a ft10 in snake_eyez's chat and lost in front of everyone. I literally watched it happen live. Twitter somehow convinced themselves that the reason sonicsol is getting banned is because he got bullied into a meltdown and responded back, but its completely wrong and I'm getting tired of seeing sonicsol pretend to be the victim here. Challenging random people to sets and crying foul when he loses has happened multiple times with him already and this is no different.

This issue with micro transactions has always been an issue for years in general, but we normalized it so much that the younger audience wouldn’t see it as a problem or those who support that “hustle” and getting that money. These comments complaining about it are valid and I would agree, but why does it sound like they’re surprised this happened.
My thoughts on this: - Sol is incredibly toxic but he doesn't deserve to be doxxed. - That said, you can't act like a crazy person who might shoot up a tournament and not have consequences. - Dude needs to step away from streaming because he can't handle it. I'm noticing every community of every game is perpetually complaining. I'm starting to think it's just easy content and attention. Wow, three people who play Tekken 8 seven hours a day have something to say about the most commercially successful Tekken probably of all time. Let's change the entire game to their liking. These are the same people who like the idea of a low parry leading into 40-50% combos. Then when the game is relegated to an insanely small niche of people and gets discontinued people will lament that the game isn't made anymore. There's literally a thousand casual players for every pro, maybe even more. Let them play tournaments and make zero money for winning and see how long they want to be pro players. Some Tekken pros enjoy Tekken 8 and prefer this playstyle to Tekken 7, I am still a newbie but I'm having more fun with Tekken 8 than I had with Tekken 7 and that's what matters to me.

People feel like in this 70 dollar game that is selling costumes we have previously had before (Mods and previous games and such.) now have to pay for what they already had, that and they are banning mods so if you wanted cool costumes you cant have em. I defended the Tekken shop initially. DLC if done right can greatly improve a game, but the battle pass thing is too much, we are paying $70-$100 for the base game and on top of that paying $4 per skin plus DLC characters. On top of that they made a whole currency for the DLC. Why not just make it money transactions and you buy what you want? Do we have to be Nickeled and dime on every front? Just make freaking good expansions with cosmetics, stages and characters and sell then at $20.

Can we get the perspective back on how much existing content are in the base game at 70 bucks versus past games? So I'm not saying it's the same level, I am saying there is obviously favoritism and selective enforcement of the rules. Noel Brown literally punched a woman remember but he wasn't banned for it. While others have been banned over unproven allegations or for a joke. Someone like Chris T, LTG, 801strider or Art is way more likely to be banned than someone in the cool kids club or woke club.

Harada has stated multiple times that the servers cost a lot of money to run, they need a form of constant income or we wont have an online experience at all. I'm not sure where the line is cause obviously this stuff isn't ok, but it's also working to some extent as an enabler of this bad behavior, because they are seeing the results and getting what they wanted (The trolls I mean). It just sucks and there should be a better way to handle this, but what that way is I have no idea.

If these companies want to include microtransactiins into their game then the game should be a total of $40 max on release. $70 games should be reserved for games that are complete on release with added on content being unlockable via unscarce in game resources. These companies lied in our face talking about new technology more resources but yet pump out incomplete games and look for ways to nickle and dime the customer at every turn. We are too passive as gamers, we need like a legal gaming committee that signs a CBA every 7 years or so with these big gaming companies to ensure that the players are not being taken advantage of. Fighting games have always been "live service" even when it was not technically feasible. Remember buying Street Fighter II on the SNES for $74.99 back in 92' then Capcom immediately releasing Championship Ed. to still vacuum your Quarters? The have SF Turbo come out about a year later on SNES for another $74.99 only to immediately release Super SF to vacuum your quarters. Then Super SF at $74.99 on SNES only for Super SF Turbo and on and on for the entirety of the 90's. I am surprised fighting games have not had season passes the whole of the Internet age. Especially considering the lack of growth in the FGC, if these companies can't count on new customers to buy their products they will milk their existing customers. The reality is if you don't like the season pass, don't buy it. No biggie.

I have mixed reactions when it comes to SonicSol and the whole situation. On one hand, i understand where he is coming from. He was doxxed, harassed, bullied all simply because he talked shit (and was a bit of a coomer.) However, his reaction to the whole situation saying he was hoping to meet some of the people who had been messing with him irl in tournaments ON STREAM where he proceeded to have a full blown meltdown. It's one thing to be the victim, but you need to keep your cool especially if you're a competitor. Otherwise, places like evo see this shit and if you don't keep it cool as ice, they may see you as a potential threat not only to others, but even to them as a business.

The reason sonicsol had a meltdown is not because he was getting harassed or baited, he challenged someone to a ft10 in snake_eyez's chat and lost in front of everyone. This issue with micro transactions has always been an issue for years in general, but we normalized it so much that the younger audience wouldn’t see it as a problem or those who support that “hustle” and getting that money. These comments complaining about it are valid and I would agree, but why does it sound like they’re surprised this happened.
My thoughts on this:
- Sol is incredibly toxic but he doesn't deserve to be doxxed.
- That said, you can't act like a crazy person who might shoot up a tournament and not have consequences.

Wow, three people who play Tekken 8 seven hours a day have something to say about the most commercially successful Tekken probably of all time. Let's change the entire game to their liking. These are the same people who like the idea of a low parry leading into 40-50% combos.
Then when the game is relegated to an insanely small niche of people and gets discontinued people will lament that the game isn't made anymore. There's literally a thousand casual players for every pro, maybe even more. Let them play tournaments and make zero money for winning and see how long they want to be pro players. Namco trying to make money is bad though.

Some Tekken pros enjoy Tekken 8 and prefer this playstyle to Tekken 7, I am still a newbie but I'm having more fun with Tekken 8 than I had with Tekken 7 and that's what matters to me.
@@chocobolord_ I am an aggressive mixup/mental stack kind of player so I enjoy this game quite a bit. If they removed Heat from the game entirely I wouldn't mind but I'm not going crazy about it. They just need to tone down certain characters when they're in Heat.

IF it were done ENTIRELY through in-game currency that is rewarded by playing the game whether offline or online, sure! That's what Guilty Gear Strive does! You unlock a ton of stuff JUST BY PLAYING THE GAME. All you do is buy the season pass to stay up to date with DLC

He made threats of violence during that rant, there's repercussions from doing things like that. While I believe he was right to be banned, he has a point in that he's being treated unfairly in accordance to the rules and those other situations that resulted in zero bans for every party involved.

I kinda hate this discussion a bit about the micro transactions. Some folks really act like they the first ones who realized "You dont have to buy it." That isnt the problem and if you think it is you haven't been listening to the talking points. People feel like in this 70 dollar game that is selling costumes we have previously had before (Mods and previous games and such.) now have to pay for what they already had, that and they are banning mods so if you wanted cool costumes you cant have em. See the problem here?
Also side note I don't know SonicSol that much, I've seen a few videos and I liked what I've seen but trying this whataboutism is not a good look. I get that you feel like you were banned unfairly but the best thing you can do is just take it on the chin and keep it pushing for now until it gets out of hand.

I defended the Tekken shop initially. DLC if done right can greatly improve a game, but the battle pass thing is too much, we are paying $70-$100 for the base game and on top of that paying $4 per skin plus DLC characters. On top of that they made a whole currency for the DLC. Why not just make it money transactions and you buy what you want? Do we have to be Nickeled and dime on every front? Just make freaking good expansions with cosmetics, stages and characters and sell then at $20.
See, with this whole SonicSol thing, he didn't tag Punk and Cam to insinuate any active anything that needed action. He was referring to a series of past incidents that happened to illustrate the context of double standard he sees. He's not trying to get anyone banned. He just wants equity, and I can't say I blame him.

Can we get the perspective back on how much existing content are in the base game at 70 bucks versus past games? It’s legit everything from the past plus a robust online experience and the continued balances after game releases. But people are still arguing “greed” for optional cosmetics that do not impact your experience.

It's all cliques. If Sol was part of the bigger clique, Punk and RobTV would both be permabanned and it's obvious because both have broken Capcom's code of conduct. But you only get canceled if enough goblins come after you. That's just the reality, some people are allowed to bully, harass and physically threaten others because they're friends with X and Y person.
Sonicsol threatened to legit kill multiple people. Punk threatened to slap a single person. Stop trying to act like the two things are the same. Also Sonicsol's said wild shit on MULTIPLE streams over the years, the latest one was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
@samalton5837 I'm not acting like it's the same, the code of conduct explicitly prohibits players from threatening or insulting any other player. Something many people have done obviously. So I'm not saying it's the same level, I am saying there is obviously favoritism and selective enforcement of the rules. Noel Brown literally punched a woman remember but he wasn't banned for it. While others have been banned over unproven allegations or for a joke.
Someone like Chris T, LTG, 801strider or Art is way more likely to be banned than someone in the cool kids club or woke club.
I don't know too much about Sonic Sol, but what I do know is that almost everytime I was in a stream channel he was in, there would be some controversy that involved him. Why are those situations so consistent with him?

I understand the backlash of a battlepass in a 70 dollar game, let alone a fighting game, but is it really that detrimental? Harada has stated multiple times that the servers cost a lot of money to run, they need a form of constant income or we wont have an online experience at all. Is it really harder than just not buying it? It's not like the implementation of the battle pass is taking anything away from the gameplay. I'm really confused more than anything, can anyone help me understand this mindset?

You know what I love. When pros and ogs talk about issues with the game without talking details. Take a page from Sanford Kelly's book back in SF5 / MVCI. Make a video showing the problem. If you're going to speak vaguely, then it just a pro's scrub quote. Peace.
tekken 8 is definitely is not that good right now, but its still significantly better than mk1 even in its current state
Though not exactly identical, this whole sonicsol ban is the same thing that happened with Games Done Quick and the player Shift. He ended up saying a slur so obviously not the same, but it was the same thing where a bunch of people came and relentlessly attacked this guy until he snapped, and then they sent in the clip of him to GDQ and got him banned.
I'm not sure where the line is cause obviously this stuff isn't ok, but it's also working to some extent as an enabler of this bad behavior, because they are seeing the results and getting what they wanted (The trolls I mean).
It just sucks and there should be a better way to handle this, but what that way is I have no idea.
